My youngest normally cycles to school but she was running late yesterday so I offered to run her in. On the way, I had an unfortunate encounter with a bloke in a big black beamer who evidently decided there was no way an old Subaru was going to be in front of him and practically forced me off the road in his efforts to overtake me. I had to brake hard as he forced his way in and ended up diagonally across a cycle lane (thank god there wasn't a cyclist using it at the time).
So was it just a coincidence that he was in a BMW or are beamer drivers, in general, really a bunch of tits?

Well it was a BMW driver who almost killed me & one of the kids.....so I'd better :gagged:
In my (extensive) road experience a lot of BMW drivers are idiots who have no regard for other road users.
Indicators appear to be an optional extra they don't wish to purchase.
There are just as many twits driving other brands of car as there are driving BMW's...every day I see impatient driver's doing silly, dangerous things.
I indicate religiously, let other vehicles in from side streets etc - basically, all the courteous things we should all be doing. That's not to suggest I'm an angel, I'm not. But I don't drive above the speed limit in urban areas and ensure I don't do anything overtly dangerous anywhere. And I drive a BMW 335i presently although Porsche is calling me.
I think certain vehicles are stereotyped due to the actions of a minority rather than the majority.
Not just BMW drivers, Audi, mercedes and anyone driving a works vehicle tend to think they own the road too.

some pram pushers i fucking hate them, you might think they dont care about there kids
To be honest when I was a biker babe, I was terrified of all four wheel vehicles. Regardless of what make or model they were. I ended up in hospital with a pnuemothorax because of a bus driver... and nearly wrote off my bike in an argument with a drunk driver.
I used to treat other road users with respect, but because I only drove a two wheel vehicle, did NOT get the same respect. I now walk everywhere I can as I feel much safer.
I was talking to my blind friend about getting another bike, but she got very upset... as its nearly five years since I have been on a bike, and the roads have changed drastically since then.... she was worried something could and probably would happen to me. Her grandson has just had a big accident so is worried sick... oh well.
