Does anyone remember Ronnie played a shortsighted removals man in a comedy set in the 1930's called Clarence. This is a personal favourite of mine that was full of laugh out loud moments. However. perhaps because the humour main came from the character's near-sighteness it never caught on and has rarely been repeated since its first run in the late 1980's.
This is a shame because the show is hilarious and is also the last work Ronnie Barker did before he decided to retire.
Goodnight Ronnie you will be sorely missed

Looking in to the garden, saw a fork handle.
Brilliant guy!
I only saw this brilliant sketch for the first time a couple of years back on a comedy compilation show where I also discovered the wonderful "mastermind sketch" with the man who gives the answer to the previous (or was it the next) question.
Of course being a youngster I only really remember (repeats?) of Open all Hours and bits of the Two Ronnies, did they do a sketch once called "Raiders of the Lost Auk"
I did see a repeat a few years back of "Futtocks End " a wonderful British Seaside Humour "Silent" comedy he wrote and starred in back in 1970 (long before I was born).
Sorry too much woffling here, a true comedy genius and will be much missed.
Harry Jones
A true comedy genius who ranks up at the top with the best that British comedy has ever produced.
A sad loss to us all
R.I.P Ronnie Barker.
The WHOOSH Manâ„¢
anyone fancy a night out next week? I have half price tickets for the two ronnies lol
To have had a full life, entertained more people on national television (17 million) simultaneously than may ever happen again, to always be remembered for having a smile on your face in private and for none of your colleagues to have a single bad word for you and indeed to count so many respectable and genuine people as your friends.... is an almost impossible feat.
Although it is very sad to lose a 'friend' it is wonderful that the memories of that person cannot fail to bring a smile to your face. He desired to be remembered for making people laugh - that couldn't be more true. A fitting end.
A truly unique person the likes of whom none of us will experience in our lifetime again.
