Hi guys,
i wondered what your thoughts are on this. Last night me and my husband played with another couple at a club. Everything seemed fine until the womans husband told me that his condom had split inside me and he came inside me. I was horrified. I know that this can happen, but i just had not thought of it happening to me for some reason. The damage was done and it was no-ones fault i know. Next morning i got the after-pill which cost me 25 pounds from the chemist( not cheap either). This has put me off swinging a bit to be honest. Not sure if i should go to the GUM clinic aswell? Has this happened to any of you? What would you have done differently? Do you think that this is a common thing to happen whilst swinging?
Thanks
Pheline
I would definately go to a GUM clinic too to put your mind at rest hun, and also to make sure that everythings ok before you begin to have sex with your hubby again.
Sorry that this has happened hun, not much I can say really, but hope all works out ok.
This has happened to us..
We know one couple who the fem has a Latex allergy.. (anyone who has played with those latex free condoms may know what i'm saying here)
They can and have split and yes its a worry. Part of all this is a risk no matter what precautions we take.. The fact the guy was using a condom to start with is a good indicator maybe that he uses regularly so I would not overly worry.. Maybe a check up at your local clinic.. (Free and annon) may just help your fears.
One of the main reasons we don't play in clubs is the very reason you stated.. We prefer to get to know people better, helps us justify our fears anyway.. Not judging just personal preferences!
No one ever said swinging was cheap...

Not sure wether its a common thing in swinging but condoms have been known to split.
I think you did the right thing in getting the 'morning after' pill and as Mrs B has sugggested get yourself checked out.
Just a thought, have you thought about using a female condom aswell, double protection?
accidents can and will happen at least you have done the best thing and yes get urself to a clinic just to be on the safe side

Thanks to all of you who answered, your advice makes me feel better already lol . And i think for the future will only use our own condoms, at least i know if they are latex free and how old they are, as they are supposed to get brittle if kept too long in hot conditons. Will go to clinic this week. I could have got the pill for free from my GP but to be honest, she knows us really well and i would have felt embarrased to tell her what has happened.

There are a number of clinics where you can get help free and confidentially ...
Several here in Nottingham if your really worried!
Good luck... but don't go worrying for no real reason yet!

It's worth a timely reminder too- don't forget that anything oily quickly destroys condoms.
How easy would it be to give someone a covered BJ, then go straight onto penetration......without realising that your lipstick has been destroying the condom:!:

Can understand your reluctance to go to your GP. Def go to a GU or Well Woman Clinic though if you have one near. The staff will be very non judgemental and will hopefully be able to put your mind at ease. As Mike says, free and confidential.

i had a bit of a scare a while ago but i went to my doctors surgery and saw the nurse practisioner (cant spell)
i had phoned the GU clinic for advice but prefered to see the nurse
luckily i was ok and had no problems but best to get sorted out
My local GUM clinic is at the hospital. It's free, quick and anonymous!
I'd get checked out if I were you - just in case!
Sorry me again rolleyes
So what do they do to me at the GUM clinic? And how soon will i know that everything is ok? What do they check for? And how long does it take to get the results? I know so many questions, but i am a bit worried. The couple looked ok and he said that he was a bit worried too. I did asked him how many times this had happened to him and he said 3 times in 5 years. I thought that was often, but that probably depends on how many times they meet others to play with.
Thanks again
Pheline
They`ll take swabs and also take a blood sample. They`ll test for chlamydia, syphilis, gonorrhea, trichomonas and HIV and the results should all be back within 3 weeks. They also do an inspection for warts although I`m not sure how long they take to show up if your exposure has been very recent.
The GUM nurses are VERY understanding, they know all about the swinging scene and they dont judge can opt for different ways for them to let you know the results i.e. phone, text, make it very easy and are very discreet.
It`s best to be sure and get yourself checked.
Just from my own personal experience ....

Don't fret, I know that's easy for me to say, but it's really not that bad!
You don't have to give your real name, address or anything.
Just tell them a condom split and you are concerned for your sexual health, simple as.
I don't know if all clinics are the same but I got the full works - blood test, internal swabs, the lot. It was over and done within minutes and I was given a number to ring and a reference number for when the results were due. You can choose to receive the results by text too.
The other patients were a mixed bunch - young, middle ages, on their own and some couples - and guess what, they all looked healthy too so ...
The couple looked ok and he said that he was a bit worried too.
You can't tell by looking at someone. Not wanting to scare you or anyone else but lots of people have STIs and don't even know it 'cos the symptoms haven't presented themselves.
Even getting to know someone makes no difference. So what - you know them - have you seen their test results??
Then again - the same could be said for oral without protection, sharing toys etc etc.
If he's worried, he shuld get checked out too - no offence to you, but I would!
I did asked him how many times this had happened to him and he said 3 times in 5 years. I thought that was often, but that probably depends on how many times they meet others to play with.

It can happen to anyone. 3 times in a row or 3 times in 30 years! It only takes the once though eh?
Thanks again
Pheline

I get checked out every 3 months, regardless. As this incident occurred to recently, they may well advise you to go back in 3 months time too as it can take that long for some infections to be detected.

Mine didn't! She was actually very intrigued by it all and asked lots of questions which I don't mind at all.
You don't have to tell them anything about that if you don't want. Just say you had an accident.
I cannot add to the good comments already made re check-ups etc. But can I put a view form another direction, one of risk management:-
Any life activity has risk - in sex for leisure (if that is the right term) there is a trade off between high expectations of enjoyment to low risk of problems from safe sex. "Branded" condoms may have a lower failure rate than others - did your gentleman provide his own? If so, did you know what make it was?
I have only had a condom actually fail once myself, but some makes tend to "ride up" and come off more frequently than others, they tend to be the cheaper ones - so to that extent it is logical that the man should choose the product, I suppose confused:
Hope this helps.
Plim :?
I've always used Durex and they've always been fine for me even when things have got rather carried away. redface
Any hint of one starting to slip off I've always felt and have attended to.
I'd have thought it takes an awful lot to split them but maybe I've just been lucky and its more common than I realised?
as someone that does not insist on condoms i obviously have regular checks and there has never been a hint of anything wrong i think if you are with a couple thet are also aware of the risks and get checked also i am not saying dont get checked for your own peace of mind but dont be too overly worried
firstly i find it hard to believe any woman would swing and not take some kind of birth control so at least if this does happen you have protection from unwanted pregnancys at least, secondly why go to the chemist when you can get a emergancy appointment from the doctors for morning after pill and get it much cheaper dunno
I would have though split condoms happen to pretty much everyone who use them regular we met a couple and it happened to my hubby and the woman he was playing with, her partner made a right fuss which i though was very over the top after all it could have easily been the other way round and been him it split on, accidents happen if it makes you feel better going to the clinic go.
Thanks for everyones comments, they were very appreciated biggrin It was an accident and as i said before i did not blame anyone. I do though really wonder if every woman who swings uses some form of birthcontrol to prevent pregnancy. A condom is a must for me to prevent sexual transmitted diseases of cause. My husband had the snip, therefore i am not worried about the risk of a unwanted pregnancy from him. I maybe naive so please help me along here sad does every woman engaging in the swinging scene use birthcontrol incase a condom spilts? Feel very naive now.

I don't use any form of contraception other than condoms. For health reasons. Can't be arsed to go into it now, sorry! lol
If a condom split on me, getting pregnant would be the least of my worries and yes, I'd go to the docs and get the morning after for free.

I don`t use any birth control other than condoms even with my partner, so no its not just you.
On a different note, the morning after pill is effective for upto 72 hrs after unprotected sex however the earlier you take it the more effective it will be. My point being if you have a split condom on the sat night for instance and you cannot then get a docs appointment until the monday morning you will be better off going to your local chemist on the sun morning and paying (over the odds I know) for the morning after pill as it will be more effective.
for the most part the advice is excellent on here, however one comment made my jaw drop.
all ill say is you can turn back the clock re pregnancies well done for wearing a condom in the first place.
i dont use birth control other than condoms dek has had the snip so there is definately no need with him if a condom split i would get the morning after pill
Get yourself checked out, if anything it'll put your mind at ease.
Luckily for me i don't have to worry about pregnancy scares due to having been sterilised after my last child.
However if i wasn't, i would be using some other form of birth control rather than just relying on condoms, i see a few here rely solely on condoms, sorry i couldn't, like this post as an example, condoms do and can split/fail, what would worry me is what if it wasn't noticed? or do you take a morning after pill every time you swing?

Care to share which one and why?
well on the packets of condoms, I have one in front of me just to make sure...It says that condoms are 98% effective with PERFECT use.... however the failure rate can be anywhere up to 15%
A female condom is actually slightly worse.... 95% effective with perfect use.... failure rate anywhere up to 20%
Diaphragms, caps, shields and sponges are all worse than that........
now are any of you guys surprised???.......
so back to the male condom..approx 1 in 50 you are going to have problems with regardless.. e.g Splitting.....
I have had it happen to me, so soon as I felt something was wrong (and yes you can feel when it has split) I stopped straight away.......
