Can drinking ruin a good night? I certainly think so. Is getting to the point that your appreciation of the drink your drinking stops and merely the fact your drinking it ok or just a bit silly really?
I mean we all tell our kids that they should'nt eat so many sweets in one go or that its bad for them etc and we are told the same sort of thing with drink. And lets be honest kids being sick after too many sweets is no sillier than adults doing the same after too many drinks. Is it possible to enjoy being really really drunk. I don't think so.
Of course this is not to say that its not upto an individual to do as they see fit or indeed to infringe on they're right to chose. Because as you know it would be no good to not to sit on the fence evil
I remember when I was just old enough to go into a pub and the effect of 3 pints of bitter - everyone's jokes were amazing etc, but as you get older and your tollerence to alcohol increases, those days are a distant memory and regular drinking just brings the prospect of liver disease closer.
So my moto is out with the heaving drinking, in with the heavy shagging.
Nothing wrong with having "one over the eight" as the old saying goes..
Occasionaly I get together with some friends of mine and we all probably drink a little too much but hey....
In my early days and even into my mid-life I drank when I was out. No problems. In the darkest moments of my divorce I drank too much too often. I was a pain in the arse to my friends.
I haven't touched a drop for 2 years. I feel stronger faster fitter. Yep best thing I ever did.
Yes it can and I'm quickly coming to the realisation that a night's drinking (whether I've had too much or not) is taking longer to get over, not just in terms of hangover but how ropey and tired I feel for the next 2 days!
Last time I got drunk I thought I was superwoman and met a sticky end with the pavement. Taught me a big lesson. Binge drinking doesn't work. Just makes the pain worse, in more ways than one!
At had that just happened to you Lost? lol
Joking aside, I like a drink, I like the chilled out affect it has on me... too many and I start talking a load of nonsense drivvel (like I think I did last night rotflmao ) then I see the look in peoples faces as if to say "what the hell is she prattling on about", then I know it's time for homski!.
I've rarely been in a situation where I've been absolutely mortal and embarassed myself, I tend to throw up before that point.
"what the hell is he prattling on about",I get that look all the time.
Not because I am drunk, I do not get drunk, nowadays.
I once a hundred years past got so drunk that I got stopped whilst stripping in the centre of town on a summers evening by two police amazed police officers. Knowing my parents instead of arresting me they phoned the folks (i hadn't been living at home for 10 years) Who rranged for me to be picked up ASAP by a bright blue reliant regal (plastic Pig)!! Somewhere someone has photo's ! its frightening.
I drink very little quite rarely. Though there was an incident this year where I did as Mallock says have one over the eight. And suffered as Calista dioes for two days feeling really shabby after. I would alsu say in with the shagging too nowadays Liasons. And keeno - 2 years without a drop and feeling good respect not easy as with so many of us it is almost an integral part of our socialising !! Cool.

As I get older I feel that having a drink is fine, but I hate the feeling of being drunk. I don't mind feeling a little 'loose' butit's that feeling of being really drunk. Not for me sorry.

Not for me, I hate being totally drunk. I prefer tipsy. Although occasionally, as I dont drink very often, when I do do it creeps up on me quicker than usual redface
Ohh, I hate the spins lol

it is the same as most things... enjoying it in moderation....
I remember when I was younger I was a big time drinker.... stories I could tell you about going vodka shot for vodka shot with russians....lots of beers and plastic trumpets in copenhagen...and everyone i know has some sort of "tequila" story
I think the change for me was working for a while on the other side of the bar watching how drunk other people got that altered my thinking...
I think it is a case of growing up and realising that it wasn't as big and clever as it seemed in the way back when..... but that is something you learn

its right if its at the right time................ i dont drink much in the house but do like to get drunk on a night out derek tho drinks every night and never gets drunk just personal choice i guess
most of us have had times when we have drank to much to forget or dull the pain ect but thats life everyone can drink to much amongst friends
if you know when to stop then you do well
Oh hell yes!!
I dont drink that much, though when I do I really go for it.....last year I went to a mates BBQ, aand we were staying over so i thought right I'm gonna enjoy this.
Now this BBQ was a get together BBQ for members of my reptile website, most of whom I have talked to online, but had never met oin the flesh....so I was really nervous about the face to face meetings (I can talk for England under the relative anonymity of a chat forum, but face to face is more scary!
anyways....we (me, hubby and 4 kids) gets to my mates at around ish, and shes made bucks fizz (champagne and fresh orange juice), cheeky vimto (port and blue WKD) and green frogs (blue WKD, and orange WKD).
To calm my nerves I had some of each, followed by the vodka I had brought myself.......it made me feel dead confident and funny, and sexy lol..... and I loved it.....trouble is I didnt stop......
so
4 plastic cups of bucks fizz
4 cups of cheeky vimto
3 cups of green frog
and half a litre of vodka
later, i was puking my ring up in the gutter outside her house as my members were arriving.....
great first impression.......crying (as u do when your very drink, mascara down my face, puke down my top.....
AND i had to be put to bed by my mate at , so missed the rest of the BBQ, and the late night chats and jokes, and getting to know my site members redface surprisedops:
I still felt dodgy by the monday (BBQ was on sat) ...so went to the doctors, and said i didnt feel well (omitting the fact that I had had a few drinks on the sat - well would YOU have said anything :oopssmile
and she diagnosed a middle ear infection......lol  , so i very smugly told everyone on my website that I hadnt been drunk, I was suffering from a middle ear infection.......and I havent lived it down since.....now my mates ALL call a hangover a middle ear infection rotflmao :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

it can be possible to *get better* though...sometimes wave
Once along way from home I had more than usual to drink. The strange thing was my understanding of the local language improved.
Has anyone else discovered this?

I've got to admit I'm the same, the past month we've had a few nights out, our "diary" has been full. I've lost a few Sunday's or Monday's by feeling just down right "crap".
It's not worth it, my skin is showing the signs now of Saturday nights drinking and curry eating (I suffer from rosacea) so for me I know what'll happen, trouble is at the time I enjoy it too much! biggrin
I really feel I made a mistake in posting this topic I feel I ought to apologise. Sorry sad

I dont drink but it doesent stop me from enjoying myself lol Im not what anyone would term 'T Total' its more a case of, I rarely touch alcohol and if I do, it might be the 'odd' cold cider in summer other than that Im a Diet Coke girl.
When I was younger and did drink on a regular basis, I hated the 'out of control' feeling I used to get but I can say I have NEVER had a hangover in my life and in those days I kept up with the best.
These days I just prefer to know and remember what Ive been up to
Nope love getting totally wasted at the weekend  but do so hate the hangovers :uhoh: do seem to take longer to go away these days.
And the what the uck was I saying last night/morning springs to mind :gagged: redface
mr s
I haven't drunk much since I got pregnant (son is now nearly 20 btw LOL) but my biggest problem wasn't what I did while drunk - it was the fact that the next day I remembered every stupid thing I did and said!!!
I like drink though and a couple of glasses of wine will get me totally giggly, which is apparently hilarious (hubby says so).
