Sorry if this has been discussed else where.
Have you been following the Formula 1 sex scandal?
No
Okay this is how I understand it. Max Mosley is the head of F1 and he has been filmed taking part in a S&M orgy. People are up set. Espically the F1 crowd.
So, it seems to me that people are saying
The S&M orgy is okay
The NAZI clothes and themes are bad
Prostitutes speaking german is okay
I'm confused as to what is socially acceptable can anyone help?
havent been following this as such, but i thought their upset was more to do with the fact he was married and his wife didnt know, that the vanilla public are programmed to feigne shock when bdsm is mentioned and that they probally feel as a person in the pubilc eye that they own him and should have known.
i dunno lol
xx fem xx
Oddly the S and M part seemed okay in the interview I heard. It was the WWII theme that seemed to shock.
Because he’s the son of Oswald Mosely who was a brit who openly supported Hitler in 1939 and organized Nazi "brownshirt" rallies in Trafagar Square on the outbreak of WW2, Max Mosley was always going to be a tabloid target. Because of the family connection it’s the Nazi angle that is contentious and the BDSM issue is really just “icing the cake”
F1 is a world wide sport and as such it is shown in many countries that have very strict religious views on sex.
It was not so much the theme of the orgy, more based on the fact he is a married man and used prostitutes. A lot of Muslim and Catholic based countries are members of FIA even the Pope has a vote
As President he should be seen to clean to all the countries members. Personally I think he is to big for his boots now and very much in the pockets of Ferrari and should be replaced, but thats me.
I have no problem what he gets up to in his private life and bedroom and I don't think NOTW have any right to do these sorts of stings on peoples personal life. Its such a hypocrital paper, and the only good use for it is lighting the firepit rolleyes

Yep, when I first heard it this is what I presumed. The alleged Nazi element to it is contentious and added in his family background and I think that is what makes it perfect tabloid headline fodder.
Mosely Street in Newcastle on tyen is named after Oswald Mosely
wench
Some of what Max does/did will not sit well with leaders of countries hosting/bidding to host F1 races and to Bernie that is a bit of a pain...
Could jeapordise future events...

It seems to me that there are 2 issues:
1) is it acceptable, having regard to Mosley being a "public" figure that he engages in sex acts of this nature?
2) Was Mosleys privacy breached?
I have to say that the answer to point 1 is that it isn't.
In relation to point 2 , i would have to say that his privacy WAS breached, but in a way, i'm glad it was.

Max has done more to jeopardize the integrity of the sport than any "Stepneygate" could. The man is a hypocrite, his targeting of McLaren, which may have been an illegal judgement, and his bias towards Ferrari is well documented.
I really don't care what he does in private with consenting adults, it is time for him to go. He has harmed the sport more than anyone else.
mad :x :x
You took the words right out of my mouth.....

1. why can't a 'public' figure engage in whatever sex acts they wish as long as all parties are consensual.
2. why are you glad his privacy was breached - what good has it done, does what he does affect you in any way, has it changed your life for the better or worse now knowing what he does?
curious as to why you believe this 'shocking' expose was a good thing?????

Good point curvynjackb!
Technically he hasn't done anything wrong, and it's all legal.
However we just seem to have this unrealistic idea of how public figures should behave, when really we should be more concerned about how well they do their jobs. Sadly tabloid newspapers make money by selling as many sex stories as they can, which seems to be what the paying public want to read. Maybe this is something to do with the sexually repressed nature of our society..
Personally I don't care about his sex life. I just don't like him.
mad
So MOseley won his case. This means his private life stays exactly what it what it should be PRIVATE
the thing is that technically he has done something wrong he hired prostitutes and that is illegal....as for anything else i couldn't give a flying f...........

I cannot see a problem with the sex acts. As long as it was in private and everyone was consenting.
2) Was Mosleys privacy breached?
Without doubt it was. The courts decided it was breached. Of course the newspaper are screaming as it has implications for them as to what they print in the future.
The guy has been a bit of a fool, but nothing like an old fool though. All those that were calling for his head, let him who cast the first stone.
Morals are a funny word as peoples morals differ from one person to the other. If he wanted to dress up as a chicken and go clucking all over the place, whilst a prostitute is walking on his nuts, who are we to say that is wrong? Good luck to the old fella I say, and he now 60 grand better off too. lol

Hiring a prostitute is legal, soliciting or procuring for one is illegal.
I just had this mental image of Mosely kerb crawling in an F1 Ferrari and getting chased by an Astra jam butty, and losing smile
As regards his privacy being breached and for the people in this thread saying that due to his job he shouldn't be doing this sort of thing (paraphrasing).
To all those people I ask the question, does your life as a swinger affect your ability to do your job effectively?
No?
Then why should Mosely's dalliance with ladies of the night affect his ability to do his job?
So if it doesn't then why do we need to know what he gets up to in the bedroom?
If anyone got to read this sundays NOTW, the editorials and the columnists were all screaming wailing and moaning that this was the end of democracy, a privacy law had slipped in the back door, Justice was dead etc etc etc.
For what?
They lost a case where they basically screwed up.
It was a non-story, it was spun out of proportion and was done purely to increase sales. That's it, pure and simple. They got caught and now they're crying about it and making excuses.
Of course, following this sunday's outburst from various at NOTW, Max has now decided to sue them for libel as well - will they ever learn? It appears not.
Private eye will have a field day with this.
