I downloaded this a couple of months ago and I'm afraid I've turned into a Google Earth anorak redface It's strangely fascinatiing yet scary at the same time ( there's such a clear view of my house, it's a good job I stopped cleaning the windows in the buff  )
Funniest part was checking up on my mum's address and there's my car parked right outside ! :giggle:
you should try looking at all the weird stuff going on at greenham common. i like google earth but wish it was as clear a image here as in the states.
Yep.....I've got the software and actually pin pointed my house.....
CC...... cool
Yep i too have google-earthed about every postcode I know redface but when I looked at my own address there was a red car parked on a piece of enclosed private land next to my house that my gran uses to store her car. Now this area is fenced off with a gate, there are only 2 keys so no-one bar the family can get access. I have a garage so never park there, my gran drives a white car and the only other relative who uses it has a blue car..
So where the fuck did the red car come from ?
Is it a colour problem with google-earth?
How long ago were the ariel shots taken?( It has to have been within the last 10 years because of changes in the area)
Are Martians using my land when I am at work?
Does anyone really give a fuck ?! lol

OK, Binxy. been having a nose round and i've come to the conclusion that the pics were taken at around 4-5 years ago, based on the fact i can see the flats up the road which went 2 years ago, i can't see any of my car collection at my current gaff or at my old gaff. the only time i had an empty drive was around this time.
still can't solve the mystery of the red car though, maybe it's the 'Egg Thingy's' delivery man kiss
(and when are you coming munching this way again?)
The pictures have changed in the last couple of months. Originally there were 3 cars outside our house. Recently there is only 1 (Google scally car thieves???). However, the major roadworks on the M60 which have been going on for a couple of years now are not shown. Maybe they only renew sections of an area at a time after the ink has ben rubbed off the photos by people looking too closely.
If you don't want the large download, will give maps and "satellite" images (the more detailed ones will have been taken from planes) of anywhere you like. They also have versions for the moon and Mars.
Google Earth (the download) lets you fly around a 3D landscape anywhere in the world. It's endless hours of fun for sad geeks like me. NASA have something similar called "World Wind".
The images are updated as they get access to new ones. Different areas will be different ages.
must be over 3 years ago for where i live coz i'm in a new-build and it's showing as wasteland
Yup!
Im a Google earth anorak too!
Bit naughty though, I showed it to my mum & got her to wave at the satelitte at a pre set time when she was off to bingo! Couldnt help it! lol

Guilty as charged redface
Area 51 is really interesting
There was a link posted somewhere recently that showed a car in a carpark floating about 6' in the air
crazy world.
slight hyjack,
with all the controversy surounding the lunar landings, we have all this techno stuff floating around in space, how dificult would it be to divert a satelite or shuttle to take a few pics of the flag, buggy and other debris supposedly left behind dunno seems to me the argument could be settled quite easily?

How would we know that the new photos were really the moon and not Arizona?

They wouldn't have the fuel to get there. The moon is a very long way up. There have been noises about more missions to the moon recently though.
Also, these things are very small. The pictures on Google that show cars and people were not taken from satellites, but planes.
And these days anyone with a computer can fake any picture they like. Pictures don't prove much. I've seen pictures that prove I have white fur and long floppy ears!

quite difficult pete, most satellites are placed in orbit at a fixed point and are designed to stay there, they do have the ability to reposition but only really enough to maintain this orbit (not counting military ones). due to the humongous cost of getting the buggers up there and the limited fuel supply they have, the chances of getting NASA to do a drive by of the moon to look at a flag is next to zero.
on top of this, once the satellite has reached the end of its useful life it begins to head into a decayed orbit towards the atmosphere where it will burn up. but some clever sod worked out that the decay is almost linear and constant, so the satellites are leased out and reconfigured to bounce 'low importance' TV signals i.e. the trucks that you see outside most news and sports events (usually labelled with SISLINK) cunning buggers eh!!!

I know, thats why some of these TV people get soooooooooo upset when they miss their sat window, i did a lot of those during a particular MMI (moment of media interest) back in the early 2000, we had about eight of those vans suddenly arive in the company car park,, We thought it was a raid lol
you would not believe the arguments going on between them (seems that most of these guys are freelance)
 I'm waffeling again rolleyes back to the subject. The lunar landings are one of the US's biggest embarassments, along with the whole kennedy thing, I must be costing them millions just from the distrust it generates, they can send probes out willynilly to the furthest reaches of the solar system. What I am saying here is that if they are so adamant ( pop star  ) that it was all for real, surley it would not be beond the whit to prove it in this day and age?
MMMMmmm -same here Folks - since I found Google Earth - I'm turning in to a bit of an anorak as well - but so fascinating !!!! (Google earth that is ) me too a little bit eh ???
Things are getting a bit too scary for me when you can use a spy satellite to pinpoint your own house...over the internet!!!!!!

Conspiracy theorists will never accept that they are wrong, no matter how strong the mountain of evidence that disproves their beliefs.
Why should the US government waste time and resources taking snaps of lunar debris, just to convince a bunch of sceptics that the lunar landings actually took place?
The mission was an exercise in muscle flexing to put the soviets in their place, which it did. The Soviets wanted mor than anything for the mission to fail, they tracked every move from launch to splashdown. They even had aircraft at the point that the module re-entered out atmosphere. Believe it or not the module really did return from space. The Soviets have never disputed that the landing was a success for the US and that the moon is US territory.
Millions of professional and amatuer radio enthusiasts all over the world monitored the radio signals from moon to earth.
Has it not occurred to you that it would be more difficult and more expensive to perpetuate a global con of this sort than it would be to actually put a man on the moon?
The assertion that the US government is embarrassed by this is laughable.

Blimey, I’d 4gotten about this one
Quote “
Did man really walk on the Moon or was it the ultimate camera trick, asks David Milne?
In the early hours of May 16, 1990, after a week spent watching old video footage of man on the Moon, a thought was turning into an obsession in the mind of Ralph Rene.
"How can the flag be fluttering?" the 47 year old American kept asking himself when there's no wind on the atmosphere on the Moon? That moment was to be the beginning of an incredible Space odyssey for the self- taught engineer from New Jersey.
He started investigating the Apollo Moon landings, scouring every NASA film, photo and report with a growing sense of wonder, until finally reaching an awesome conclusion: America had never put a man on the Moon. The giant leap for mankind was fake.
It is of course the conspiracy theory to end all conspiracy theories. But Rene has now put all his findings into a startling book entitled *************. and it is a compelling read.
The story lifts off in 1961 with Russia firing Yuri Gagarin into space, leaving a panicked America trailing in the space race. At an emergency meeting of Congress, President Kennedy proposed the ultimate face saver, put a man on the Moon. With an impassioned speech he secured the plan an unbelievable 40 billion dollars

Etc etc
I think you misread the intentions of the post. I’m not actually one of the CT’s but there have been some startling and very convincing documentaries aired and books published.
Most recently one included one of the worlds leading photographic labs that “almost” proved beyond all reasonable doubt that at least some, if not all, of the black and white stills of the lunar landing were mock ups (can someone remind me of the name of the docu please”
My point was that in this age of ever increasing global trade, and an ever seaming distrust of anything American, how nice would it be for them (or someone else) to turn round and irrefutably PROVE to the world, that in fact, they were telling the truth all along.
The kudos would be immeasurable, the regained trust in the American propaganda machine would put them right up there, almost untouchable, and the satisfaction gained by the average joe American citizen would ensure a lifetime presidency for whoever was in power at the time.
You may well scoff and put forward economic arguments, but in actual fact the economic benefits from such an action would far outweigh the actual cost.
Never underestimate the cost of mistrust, especially when you are contemplating the global economy. The US started their downward spiral in the trust stakes with Hiroshima and then Vietnam, several unpopular conflicts later we arrive at GWI and GWII. The future of global trade lies within the middle and far east where according to popular polls they suffer the worst “business trust” of any other country in the world.
I could go on but frankly this is all in the public domain and frankly I cant be arsed at this tile of night lol
To sum up, I have not said that the moon landings didn’t take place, what I have said is that for the US to simply turn around and use the tiny percentage of the recourses available to them that it would take to actually prove it, would pay dividends beyond our wildest imaginings.
And here endeth the sermon rolleyes
wave
I watched a chat on the TV about 10 years ago think it was called "For the love of" they did a different topic each week this one being " for the love of putting a man on the moon ". After I watched it I had doubts if the moon landing was real or not. Then about 18 months ago they had a program on forgot what channel and they went through all the main conspiracy theorys. They explained why the flag moved why there were shadows etc they went thorought hem all, it was pretty convincing. So now I am a believer again.

If you live near a city or large town then you should be in one of the more clearer areas.
Yesterday afternoon i followed the Thames from the estuary right up till it became no more than a wide stream
Ye ye i know im getting very sad
you would think so mike (city images being clear) but you check out ng11 when you next go on it is so blurred i cannot see a thing
i think the satellite for my area was having a day off at the time
