Or more accurately has The SWinging Heaven Cafe gone soft? Where are the edgy posts? The topics that we feel passionate about. Is there any cut and thrust to the posts? Are people scarsed to post anything contoversial in case they up set people?
So have we forumites gone soft?
I am new to the forums but like to read different peoples views. What kind of subject would you like to see?..and how about you starting the threads. Just an idea. biggrin

I don't think so hun- I've noticed on a few occasions when I've logged on there are only 3/4 visible peeps in the forum at a time  rather than the dozen or so I've come to expect.
And as for your gritty topic, I feel too crappy to respond with the gravitas it needs.....manyana!

I agree, I'm kind of in the background a bit, I just float in and out at the minute, adding the odd comment on the way - a bit like a bird having a poo really
More of a maturation I think. ie less mental heads slanging it out, more people giving it some thought. wink

I think there's a lot in that comment actually. A lot of people who say what they think, if they debate their corner, can appear to be being argumentative with a person. I know that I've said that to someone recently - mainly because I've been there and I know that's what I've been told. I do feel as though some of the newer 'arrivals' to the forum, feel as though the predominantly forum people are being clicky when they make a comment on 'their' thread and take comments rather personally/not in the way they were intended.

I think I agree, but it's also the case that the normal forum people only seem to respond to comments from the usual suspects, and perhaps newbies feel excluded.

maybe the fear of going missing in action is making some members hold back on what they say?
parinoid?
the same quietness is happening in the chatrooms.
it could be said there times when people are not so active, but from my experience and what i have witnessed there is alot of fear in posting/chatting.
the rules are there for good reason, but there seems to be such discretion used. one person will do something and disapear other can blatently flout rules.
this inputs a fear or a "whats the point" attitude.
this is only my opinion and i can not talk for everyone.
if im not back in 24 hours, dont come looking for me , ill be another mia.

I just find it all a little stale at the mo, forum wise. Nothing with any substance to it. Stuff thats being debated to the hilt yonks ago. Nothing new.
"And before anyone jumps in and says why dont you post then?" my answer is, I cannot be bothered, pure n simple! I get the feeling, Im not the only one to feel like this. The morale in here seems to be hitting rock bottom. We need a FORUM PICK ME UP!! lol

I remember this place when it was "proper live n kickin"
you could count the "users online in the forums" literally in the hundreds (been a long time since that happened)
Personally I blame the PC brigade that some how infiltrated the site, and before anyone says it, no I don't think it had anything to do with the takeover, the rot had set in way before then.
I have always maintained that to be a member of a swing site, you need a thick skin, that’s because by our very nature, we are unorthodox, slightly away from the mainstream rolleyes not quite fitting into the "normal" basket  not quite your local vicar material.
I think what happened was that far too many of us, old school included, tried far too hard to prove otherwise.
Look, its as easy as this. WE ARE SWINGERS …………….. dunno what? We are ffs, get used to it, it does actually mean that in the main we are regarded / perceived as
PERVERTS.
And I think that one of the main things that killed the forums, and is now starting to kill the chat rooms is that we are all trying ‘oh so hard’ to prove to the world that we aint.
Which is shit,
what we should be doing is standing up for what we believe in, and showing the world our lily white spotty arse (or ebony black spotty arse for that matter) and telling them, hey, this is the way it is ok? If you don’t like it, move on:
So yeah cummon, lets get back to some real debates, lets see some proper balls from admin, (you’ve been here long enough now to know how it really works guys) that we can shoot down in flames, and be flamed back without having to do the mysterious disappearing act
THIS IS A DEVIANT SITE FOR PPL WHO SOCIETY CLASSES AS DEVIANTS  ffs stop trying to dress us up as anything else and lets get some proper debate going here.
Cat + pidgins = bolt
:lol2:
Bye everyone, been a blast wave
biggrin Pete i love you and I want your babies and for those who choose to live in bungalows ................. tossers wink
Pete wait for me wait for me wait for me bolt........................... bast*rds fast ain't he (puff wheeze pant)

I'm jaded with the whole scene, which inevitably shows in my use of forums and chatrooms, and it seems i'm really not alone in this

The 'normal' forum people know that the 'usual suspects' to whom they respond, will not get all huffy and sniffy, then bring in their mates to have a dig at the person who dared speak to them. Or worse, start a PM campaign against someone who had a go at their mates  - that's just a teensy bit sad, I think.
I love the threads where people say what they think, stand up and are counted, without fear that some mardy PC person will just argue with them for the sake of it.
I can't stand the threads where people post just to say they're fed up/bored/depressed, just to elicit sympathy. I don't think those people do themselves any favours. I know there will be cries of 'but it's a community and we support one another'. That may be the case. However, most of us come here to have a laugh, not to become depressed by yet another person feeling sorry for themself. Tell your close mates in PM - the whole forum doesn't need to know. It's there for everyone to read and I know I'd steer well clear of anyone like that - can't imagine a more depressing night out.
Then there are the threads that people start, rather than use Google, or maybe a shop catalogue, or Exchange and Mart.
And I know I don't have to read them - but if I do, I also know who to avoid. lol
The forum is clicky, as are the chat rooms, as are your local pubs and social clubs. No point saying that's not the case. You go somewhere because that's where your mates are. Newbies to anywhere either dive in and make an effort to go with the flow that already exists, or they bugger off and find something else that suits better.

And good on you for trying. We all get ignored at times, some more often than others. It's not a newbie thing at all.
