How many threads have you killed?

I guess we've all done it, and if you haven't then you haven't been on here long enough.
I've got a theory about this. It goes something like this:
You take the plunge and enter SH Towers and if you don't make a complete bollox of it when you first post and get shown the door you quickly get the addiction.
Then you get some courage up and you start joining in.
Before long you're starting to interrelate with a few of the peeps here.
You get to go to a munch or a party after a bit and before long you've made some friends.
After a while your addiction makes you a bit sick and you may log in and find that you can't be assed to join in.
You don't log in for a few days (for whatever reason).
When you do you find that none of your mates are around 'cos they're doing other things or can't be assed or they're all busy..........................er.........................interrelating behind the scenes. wink

However, life goes on in the forums, and there's a whole load of new peeps banging the keys as if there's no tomorrow. :shock: :shock: :shock: lol

You post a reply or two to a few threads and.................
Nothing!

I've killed lots of threads in my time -far more than Tune, who is probably my nearest rival - and that can be proved in the back pages of the forums.

I was rather hoping to keep out of this one - but as Mike and I've been here - it's a dead duck.
I think it's partly to do with the timing. Someone very astutely described the life cycle of a thread - something along the lines of
1 Start
2 Serious, intelligent responses (sometimes interspersed with an attempted hi-jack)
3 A bit o' banter
4 A bit o' bollox
5 Successful hi-jack
6 Desperate stragglers
7 Death... and then sometimes
8 Resurrection (had to get that in)
There should be a health warning from stage 3 onwards!!

Very good, Tune, and pretty accurate. However, there are variations, e.g. on Saturday nights the process usually goes straight from 1 to 4 - always happens with mine anyway. sad

I've killed a few in my time, but also think it depends on the content of the thread, if its a funny one it will keep coming up top. Got to admit I spend more time reading them than posting & never get past page 1 so if it drops back by lots of new threads I tend to miss them confused

I'm glad that this happes to the veterans as well as the newbies then sad

but in my opinion what's worse than killing a thread is when you think of something really funny and type away and off it goes and when you come back the next day and read what you posted you think oh fuck can't believe I said that!!? what an idiot!
and there's no way to edit it because someone has already quoted you saying you plonker and the thread is then dead :(
