Hi Winchwench
Ok here's my design ideas top create a sensual boudoir:
Floorboards definitely (wood is NOT cold to step onto)
Absolutely no TV/DVD anywhere (should be banned in bedrooms)
No children's pictures
Sensual generally means warm colours and a moroccan idea would be a good starting point so perhaps try warm reads, aubergines, browns with maybe an accent colour (duck egg lovely for this and restful to as Sassy has done/doing)
As well as colours, textures are very important in a bedroom, silky cushions, chunky throws, faux fur, mngolian cushions (thicker for winter, thinner for summer)
Personally I would only choose pure white good quality cotton bedding and dress with cushions and throws which you can interhange from season to season.
Lighting is really important, side lamps, wall lights, candles etc. Low wattage bulbs.
The walls - should be the last decision really, choose the expensive things you love, the bed, furniture, curtains (fabric is expensive) then put them all together in a mood board and see what colour would compliment them all. Often it is a colour you wouldn't think of. As someone else suggested a feature wall is a good plan to get a strong colour without dominating the room.
Happy designing.

I've always thought that setting a room around a certain scent is a good idea, for instance if the room had a lavender scent the room would be designed with that in mind, everything would be related to lavender. Bedrooms need to be cosy so i think the perfect scent for the room to have would be something warming, the first one that comes to mind is mulled wine, so naturally the room would be designed so taht it matched its scent with warming colours such as reds, browns and oranges. With alot of thought i personally think that a home or a room designed using smell as a template would be a comfortable one.
I doubt that helps you though x

Bloody hell Drew, that was a very sensible post!
Like that idea, actually - the scent template.
Can't mess with interior design can you lol, thats what i wanted to do at college so i'm very serious about it x
Thank you all sooooo much for your input kiss
I've not been about much since starting the thread- some shit has hit a fan and as a result we're having to redecorate our lives too.
However- the furniture is ordered and paid for confused
And I stumbled upon a lurvely colour for the wall the headboard is against- it's a purpley plummy colour. And its pearlescent :inlove: I put a test pot on the wall last night & it's dried like liquid sparkle :bounce:
Actually, that sounds awful! It's pearlescent & shiny & silky & lush.
Furniture will take anything up to 35 days  but at least that gives me time to decide what to do with the floor. Love floorboards, but Mr W is concerned about noise, draughts-oh and splinters! :?
More ideas happily welcomed-and my apologies for not responding to them all.
And yes, I will be posting piccies when it's done! wink

Hi Winchwench
Draughts - Not bad with upstairs room as downstairs rooms always warmer than upstairs and heat rises
Splinters - If you sand and seal properly you won't get any, wood feels warm and clean
Noise - hmmm the only downside especially when kids toys get dropped from a distance! But in grown up bedrooms.....
Actually think where your bedroom is above, if it's above the main living room and you decide to have a quickie while others are downstairs and you drop your handcuffs on the floorboards....can make a bit of a racket
Still shouldn't be putting you off...go for it

I am a little sad after reading the very promising title of this thread "I need some help in my boudoir."
Only to find out it's about paint and other girly things.
