I have a habit. If a strange woman looks at me in the street, I smile. Sometimes she smiles back even if she is with someone. One even smiled, and adjusted her hair, but then she was in a car ready to pull away as the lights changed.
So do you smile, nod, say 'Hi' to strangers?
Do you smile back...?
Do you report them to the police and run like hell?
Is it possible to be more polite on the streets?
Should we just put our heads down and get to where we are going?
Travis
If people look at me I smile
If people see me looking at them I smile
A smile costs nothing, yes they may think you a deranged loony for smiling at a stranger, but you may just brighten someones day!
smile :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
if someone makes eye contact as i pass them i always smile.
its odd but i tend to say morning or hello to people when on holiday which is normally in england.
there are a few of my neighbours i say hello to but not that many, i couldnt even tell you mosts of their names, apart from Rocky over the road who knows everyones business lol

A few days ago while walking down a local high street I spied a woman walking towards me...
She was quite pretty and had a nice figure....
I must admit to being slightly transfixed by her as she walked down the street and as she passed me she looked me in the eye and gave me a beaming smile...
Certainly made my day :-)
well am off to a wedding in a minute where the only people i know are the bridge and groom and am going on my own lol
gonna smile at everyone and see if i get tapped lol
or just locked up for looking like an inane grinning mad woman lol

Absolutely agree with you kiss
However "dahn sarf" it's seen as slightly weird behaviour, so when they let me out of the asylum I'll have to be more serious.

I remeber our wedding, we had to smile all day! I was happy when they all left, and we could stop smiling and have some fun.
I smile constantly when I'm at work, (singing) and I often get feedback of - "What a nice lady, she never stopped smiling!"
I've come to the conclusion that if you smile broadly at everybody, people get a warm, positive feeling feeling about you. This even works if you hold a smile while talking to someone on the phone!

i use mine to good effect

Am I the only one who sticks her tongue out then? redface

I think it works the same way standing up to speak on the phone, it is in the different sound of the voice.
I am a south Londoner born and breed, there are not many of us around in London anymore which is a shame.
I have always smiled at people and chatted to total strangers. My children often ask if I know them.
But then I talk to any Tom Dick or Harry just the way I am, I nearly always get a response back, from all walks of society.
But then I have been told on many occasions I am just mad! lol
If I make eye contact.. or vice versa.. I always smile and usually say hi, if in range lol
Even it's someone who I don't particularly like at work.. I still smile and say hello.
Some people may call that two-faced... but I just want an easy life. Can't be arsed with hastle.. and manners cost nothing huh biggrin

I often walk around the lanes and footpaths around my village but what I see most are people driving by. But there is nearly always a wave. Which is almost the same as a smile. 9 times out of 10 I haven't a clue who they are. I always wave back. Sometimes I'll wave first.
Its always nice when I get a lady waving I don't know waving at me. (It does happen from time to time). Perhaps next time I should leap out and find out who she is.
It could be the start of a beautiful......trip to A&E!

I prefer to stick my tongue in wink
i always smile n say hi as i pass by peeps mr b often asks who was that and looks at me gone out when i say i have no idea
although taxi drivers might sometimes think me rude as when i occasionally get one home from work i am rarely in the mood for chatting as i have had to chat n b nice all day long so tend to b rather quiet on the journey not meanin to b rude i do smile n say please n ty in all the right places though redface
