Easy, albeit somewhat predictable.
Satisfaction (I can't get no).
It's a tough choice to have to make, but for me it's gotta be "Gimme Shelter"
Sorry.... never really "got" The Stones. Now if it were Barry Manillow that would be a different story! :giggle: bolt

Honkey Tonk Woman has to be up there, just for the intro. If I had to choose just one, it would be Sympathy for the Devil after seeing a brilliant live performance in the 70s. A leftfield choice would be Winter from the Gateshead Soup album just because it gave Mick Taylor a chance to play his guitar.
Nope, you're not alone. Although I was never a big Stones fan either, I'm not an Elvis fan (although during his army days he was a looker) and I reallllly don't do SATC - or Bridget Jones...or Notting Hill...etc etc
Sweet Virginia
or Start Me Up for the guitar sound
Paint it black for me - Stones are cool.
Yep, I'm with Losty, Paint it Black for me, though I'm quite partial to Jumpin' Jack Flash too.
Angie for me.
It is a bit away from the Stones " normal " kind of thing, and that is maybe why it is my favorite.
You know how you said Elvis just watered down black music (hopes he's remembered right...it was you wasn't it ?).......Rolling Stones !!!!
I like the Stones, but then I like a lot of music. Females singer have a big appeal, but not the spice things.
I have always liked The Flower Duet, more so since seeing a clip from The Hunger, I must get that pic.
So who is out on the edge now?
I can take or leave the rolling stones. Now Gillingham supergroup Chicory Tip, who can fail to be brought to tears by their seminal " Son of my Father" and their pioneering use of a Moog. They also had the good grace to stop when they had enjoyed their 5 minutes of fame.
One of the things that I like about the Stones is just how many songs I actually knew by them, without ever knowing it was them singing it.
Mrs Res was into them before I was and it was only listening to her cassette (yes it was that long ago) that I realised how many of their songs I actually knew and knew well. I thought I only knew "Satisfaction" at the time and was amazed to discover that almost every song on the album I'd heard of, liked, and just not realised it was them (which sounds stupid given Jagger's voice, but I was young and foolish with the IQ of a Lemming dropping).
And have you seen the Video to "Sex Drive" It's rather naughty if I remember rightly.
The Stones have managed to hang on to the baby boomer fan base and more fans have joined to fold with time.
I have a number of favourite Stones songs because so many of them have been influential at different times in my life. Some of my faves for different reasons are:
"You can't always get what you want."
"Under my thumb."
"19th Nervous Breakdown."
"Sympathy for the devil."
Anyone who doesn't get the Stones just needs to listen to the lyrics of Jagger & Richards to appreciate how incisively they got to grips with the mood of the moment. Some lyrics still stand the test of time:
"You can't always get what you want, but if you try real hard you might just get what you need."

agree completely with this one! also love the Sisters of Mercy version
Impossible to choose a single track but if pushed I would settle for Beggar's Banquet for the desert island LP and take Let It Bleed as a back up.
The stones is not a sound am keen on, well I like wild horses but not them singing it :giggle:
Can I have some old fleetwood mac please lol or some Janis or some Free redface

Ooh, I've got lots and lots of old Fleetwood Mac, Peter Green was GOD wink
I can`t believe my favourite Stones song has not got a mention, even though i am too young to remember it on release i love "Mothers Little Helper" don`t know why i just do.
I'd have to go for that piece of philosopop:
You Can't Always Get What You Want.
Close thing though, there are so many good ones.

Paint it Black for definite. Whenever I hear it it makes me think of 'Tour of Duty' the Tv series.

Yup - paint it black is a goodie too.
This thread prompted me to replace a Pink Floyd CD in the multiplayer with Forty Licks and was given some very strange looks at the traffic lights whilst singing along at full volume and playing the drums on the steering wheel to paint it black.
Fool To Cry - just got a great vibe to it. Sublime man cool
