Does certain smell or song trigger a memory from your past?
If I hear a song from 1976 it brings back memories of a long hot summer, fun and first romance. smile Charlie perfume and I think of a former girlfriend, coconut and I think of my late gran baking coconut madelines biggrin sad I smell a certain shaving foam and I'm cuddling my grandad as a child :)
There is a smell lingering here that reminds me of something......... now what was it? rolleyes rotflmao
Hyacinths remind me of a romantic trip to Holland, Keukenhof gardens and the wonderful flower festival.

The song seasons in the sun by Cat Stevens reminds me of my brother who I miss so very much.

Sunday evenings.. sitting room smelling of boot polish, my dad bulling his army boots, and the top 40 hits playing on the radio.
Being picked up from work by MrFC in his blue capri with Tavares playing on the cassette.

The smell of Brut, reminds me of my Grandad!! I still love that smell.
The smell of Cigarettes, reminds me of my first lust (not love, he was a bad boy! LoL)
And the song "Insatiable" reminds me of the utter sexiness of my Salsa Instructor.....god he is amazing *Getting extremely hot under the collar*....*Grin*.
The smell of proper cubes of turkish delight remind me of my gran - she always used to sneak me some after my mother had already said no....
Patchouli (oil or burning sticks) reminds me of a very special friend no longer around.....
Hearing anything by "The Smiths" reminds me of taking a day out of college to queue up with a handfull of others to buy the "Louder than bombs" US import album on vinyl then us all taking it into college and realising how obvious it was where we'd been....
"Mandylion" by dutch band The Gathering reminds me of my most mind-blowing non-sexual evening spent with a partner....(don't ask !)
Led Zep classic "Dazed & Confused" live reminds me of sitting in a flat outside Shrewsbury during my first ever dabble with, er, "substances" in a room full of heavily out of it friends.....
Hmm.... ummm my Imparla bedspread smell reminds me of 2 years in South Africa.. it's a sort of warm leather (steady!) smell. It came from the Lion rescue park where they raise the Imparla as food for the Lion breeding programme.
"Baggy Trowsas" reminds me of 2nd year at school... just beginning to discover girls are fun!!
Propane Gas reminds me of Hotair ballooning!!
Oohhh and 2 things... logfire and proper homebrew (real hops an all) reminds me of my Grandad and evenings watching/helping him sort out the hops flowers and getting a taste of the results when only aged 8!!
I remember my nan having foxes glacier mints in a draw about 8oz worth.... memorires ....havin to walk a few miles on a saturday morning to pick up the weeks groceriers for her and havin a 10p then (1971) loadsa money as o thought and spending half an hour min to choose what i wanted.... I know but i didn't have money then and it seemed like loads. Or its because im a librian (a bit dithery) on choice. confused redface :? surprisedops:

Hi all, Slim. Can anyone remember the smell you used to get when you went to the
picture's straight after they opened the doors, some sort of cleaning material I think

Fish.
Every time i smell fish I'm transported back to the rivers, lakes and canals where me and my dog sat for hours fishing. Small boy, big dog, cheese and tomato butties wrapped in 'Mother's Pride' wrapper. No worries, no stress, no people....oh, to be that small boy now.

That theme tune for Top of the Pops still gives me the incredible urge to dig out my tape recorder, hold the mic up to the telly and tell everyone to shut up!
My sister in laws stretch mark cream she was using recently took me right back to my pregnancies, was the strangest feeling in the world. Suddenly felt exactly like I did emotionally when pregnant.
Beetroot sandwiches take me back to being sat on the beach when we were kids, eating them combined with sand, and drinking warm orange squash, due to being sat in the sun all day! - while parents drank cool wine and beer from the hamper! :shock:

My granny used to have a "sweetie drawer" for her grandkids. We all lived in the same village and come Friday, we would gather in the playground gossiping about what would be in store for us when we went to hers for tea.
We all used to race each other up the road at the end of the day to see if she had Buttons or Flakes. Ahhh, bless, she always had what we wanted too! biggrin

The smell of sweaty shoes reminds me of the changing rooms of my high school, they smelt rank :crazy: - but it was worth hanging round the changing rooms when I wa a first year as the fifth years did PE after us. There was one girl there who was sooooooo sexy, I always had to hang around to watch her get changed. brings back wonderful memories of stolen weekends in London a few years ago!
Dandelion and Burdock reminds me of climbing trees and picnics in the local wood when I was probably only about 7 or 8.
Creosote reminds me of being told off at the nursery for going on the climbing frame when it was being treated. I can't have bee more than 4 then!

Dandelion and Burdock reminds me of the Corona man who used to deliver large bottles of said beverage with Limeaid, and Lemonade to our home Circa 1968.... Whatever happened to him ?
The Corona man certainly got around, he came to my house as well in the early 70s. Their Lemonade was yummy - no other tastes the same smile
Slightly lumpy mash, diced beetroot and the best ever cheese and potato pie (all with their own very unique odours) remind me of school dinners.
It's amazing though that many ages of friend and family remember exactly the same too !!

Smell of beans always reminds me of my best friends house when I was growing up in Cambridge. We used to sleep 4 in a bed and the room always smelt of beans lol.
Smell of newly mown grass - when I was little I used to spend hours on school field when grass had been cut and made houses with rooms out of the cuttings.
Lavender always reminds me of my nan and I makes me want to hold here again and tell her how much I love her
