I know that... I'll let you what else I found out last night... the information about what type of contract and how much is coming in the "next few days"... the release date IS going to be the 10th November...
orange are only going to be doing the 3g(s) which means it will be coming out in the 16 and 32gb versions only....
for people I know work in the orange call centre up here, they have taken on 150 extra staff just for enquiries and upgrades with regards to the iPhone... they are due to be done by a week on monday! orange apparently have had 250,000 enquires about it already
when i find out tariff/phone price stuff... i'll let you know....
I have a Blackberry bold for work (bit bulky and preferred the Curve I had before) and its great for that purpose. Email, text, calander, internet and a camera.
I did up grade to a samsung tocco ultra but just didn't get on with it so have reverted back to my nokia 6300- simple and easy to use.
(I would have a iPhone if I could and am kicking myself for upgrading just before Orange brings it out!)
So I have probaly been no use att all!!
dunno

Anyone mind if I chip in with my tuppence worth?
I'm not a fan of the iphone generally for a few reasons.
It's too poncey.
It's part of this whole irritating "i" thing and that REALLY winds me up.
It's WAY too expensive.
You have to deal with iTunes - which is a right pain in the arse.
I could go on...
Sadly though, they actually work very well (if you ignore the silly quirks like tethering, copy n pasting and MMS)
Blackberries to me seem like half the deal. They're great for business users, but seriously - who wants a massive keyboard at the bottom of the phone ALL the time?
I'm a HUGE fan of HTC phones and could talk you into the grave about them, but I would seriously suggest you look at the HD2 (on O2 and various others in about a weeks time) or for an Andriod experience, look at the Magic (or G2 as it's also known).
It really depends what you're going to be using it for, but the HD2 has the crispest, clearest highest resolution screen out there - and it's fookin big too. Beautiful for catching up on streaming TV and movies...
Just my thoughts though. I'll be getting the HD2 when my contract runs out in Jan. Oh, and dont forget to make the providers fight for your custom. Play them off against each other with a little white lie here n there and you'll be surprised what you can get for free.

I kinda agree with some of your iPhone gripes... off to google HTC phones!

To be honest I'm kinda boycotting the iPhone as I feel my iPod would then be redundant, and that would gall slightly.

no... think of it as an "all in one" package.... and that way you can keep ya ipod as a back up... thats the rationle going on in my head.....
I have been trying to talk myself out of getting on as my xmas present to myself.. it was either that of a Wii...
but the lure of the Iphone is strong....
lol
To be fair, I'm not a lover of touch screens - I'm a texter/typer and the touch screen thing just doesn't do it for me.
Am leaning towards the Blackberry I reckon. Proper keyboard!
I've got a very basic Nokia at the moment, but today ordered my christmas present, a blackberry curve. I also have an ipod and would feel daft getting an iphone, as i'm on a pc and not Mac, and would take an age to transfer everything. I was captured by the proper querty keyboard too!!

Get the one you can get for £5 from carphone warehouse and what you save you can spend on booze in the offy and we can go over to Birkenhead Park with bloke and get pissed up on alcopops and then beat up a group of unassuming hoodies.
I got all the information from orange today... I could have had a 16gb iPhone 3gs on upgrade for 125 pounds if I signed up for another 24 months at 30 quid a month.....
but because I signed up for 18 months.. they are not going to let me do it till january.... gutted......
it will so be mine!!!!!
My I-phone was free on a £35 a month contract (O2). I found on my previous touchscreen phone, even when it was supposed to be locked off, it would be forever ringing people up if it activated in my pocket or tankbag on my bike which used to piss them off royally!
With the I-phone it's reactive to your body temperature, therefore only works when you touch it and not when something else does. I've only had it a few weeks and am still finding new things to do with it. Yes, it uses I-Tunes but I don't have any problems with that and it works fine with a Windows PC and you don't necessarily need a MAC to use it.
It's just more phun than a phone!! lol

I have decided that I will be upgrading:
option 1
35 pound a month.. 24 months... 600 minute, 500 text and unlimited data... 16gb phone for £87
or
option 2
45 pounds a month..24 months... 1200 minutes 500 text.... then the 16gb phone is free.. or 32gb phone for £96
my bill is about 40 ish a month... ooooooh......

Didn't work for me lol
I had an iPhone, it was very good apart from the bloody ringtone not being loud enough, there was also a switch on the side that used to change state when it was in my pocket, I missed so many calls.
I now have an Andriod (HTC Magic), it ticks all of the boxes for me and is easy to set up with more apps than you can shake a stick at, I also like the seamless integration with all of the Google applications, tracks is pretty neat.
i just got my hands on an open to any networks and internet BlackBerry 8500 storm as i fancied a new phone but i like the idea of a touch screen more than a keypad
now its time to play and see what the phone can do even thoe i normally prefer easy to use phones like motorola or nokias old type that is like the old 3200 or the 3300i

In your case - try rubbing a wet fish round it. Though I have heard letting a cow lick ya head works as well :? :? :?
Hi, we both have iPhones and cant fault them their great.
I was very resistant to touch screen phones. I had one before my nokia N86 and sent it straight back because I hated it. However, on my most recent upgrade I got talked into a HTC desire. My friend has an i-phone (she's richer than me.. and it's not available on my provider) and on comparison mine does everything that hers does, I am so impressed with it. The only downsides initially for me were getting used to the texting.. it wasn't automatic as I was used to a different type of predictive, and it felt rather big.. even though it is very thin. Also the battery doesn't last a long time, but upon research I found this to be a common factor with all smart phones and there are ways of conserving the energy you are using.
Overall a big thumbs up to HTC from me.. I would highly recommend it. smile
