Well if I had to answer now I'd say that there's two opt outs in place already, you can either make the photo's private or disable the distance search, but thats just my personal opinion and my peers may disagree with me, hence the reason I said that its 'it`s open for discussion'.
There have been some false assumptions made in this thread and I'd like to think that I've provided some clarification where it was needed, there are a lot of ways to make yourself be seen on this site, there's also a lot of different ways to hide yourself and also ways to open things up to those you want.
im boggled by technology can we have an easy algorythm/flow chart to tell me how i can have pics on my profile as i find them rather helpfull but i dont want my next door neighbour or worse my boss having a perve at the gallery to find my pics and possibly use them not for my good.
Purely in the interests of research, I did a search for members within 3 miles, and the second person I perved <ahem> viewed, is listed as keeping their location and distance from me private. Yet they still appeared in the less than 3 miles category :huh:
I think that there are many valid points being made here. two-4-more in particular has highlighted several issues that shouldn't be ignored off-hand.
The main point that I feel is being made, it seems to me, is that if people feel their privacy, and the control of their privacy, is being compromised in any way it will negatively affect the nature of the site.
A significant number of people have already been driven underground by hiding their photos due to the whole tagging debacle. Now with the approach to the new search facility, which I think is a good idea fundamentally but possibly ill-conceived, it will do nothing but increase the sense of insecurity within members.
The upshot of this is that it will drive more members underground and/or drive people away, members who will leave the site for good. This is a non-trivial concern and the mods and admin staff should be wary of not taking it seriously enough.
I have already made my pics private, and with the increasing number of members who are following suit, it makes it much harder to use the site for it's true and proper purpose. More of these type of changes may cause many of us to consider leaving permanently.
I hope this doesn't happen.

i sadly have been forced to make my pics private. My pulling power is now reduced.
I have always argued in favour of this being a paying site so that people who have an incling i am a swinger and look around the sites will have to pay to get on this site and discover my alternative life. This sadly appears no longer a safe realm.
I value my privacy and having kids in early 20's who are inquisitive could now easily find me. This also applies to colleagues.
i hope now my pics are private that they will not appear in the gallery. They were there i checked. I am now going to check they are gone
What does data protection act say?
i have just checked and some of my pics despite all being private are still in the gallery including 1 from an old account that is no longer active

Private ones should not be in the gallery, if you change a public image to private it can take up to 15 minutes to take effect in the media gallery results, if you are still seeing any private images in your results drop me a pm with the details, if you have an old account that you no longer have access to let me know the username and I will take a look.
I just know what all the fuss is...if your photos were public,they could be viewed by anyone who searched the ads section anyway...okay they are in a gallery aswell now,what the difference..if you don't want certain pics viewed set them to private...we've just done a search in the gallery and only found the pics we had choosen for public view only...our private ones are still private...we like the new look gallery!
We also think its a far easier way aswell to look for people we are interested in,go through the photos,click on a specific pic then check out the profile from there.
mine are all gone now.

When you do a gallery search it pulls up pics, but if you look you can click on the tab above to get to the main profile page of that person. The search just takes you to the picture tab of the profile.
Not sure if this is a glitch on the website or the result of members entering incorrect details about themselves but if I'm viewing the 'females' section of the gallery most profiles are actually couples.
Just thought I'd flag it up - apologies if this issue has already been spotted.

When the photos are tagged the question asks
'who is in this photo'
It does not ask 'is this a couples account or females or males account'
So therefore you may find that a female in a photo on her own as an example, will come up in the female section, but she may be part of a couple.
sorry, not read through the whole thread - all I know is we've had to put all & any pics we had that could slighty identfy us into Pvt
We've been contacted by folks that have used the distance search on the new gallery just to tell us they think they recognise me!!!
Had to remove the BJ videos we had on here (as you could, again, idenfy, me if you lived close enough to us) so i'd like to see a pvt gallery option on the videos too!!!
