havent we recently been updated ... certainly in the fora etc?
is there somewhere that tells the members what the updates will be, or what are intended, so that we are not all too shocked when it happens?

January this year we posted some images of 'The new look' in different colours in a poll to obtain feedback on members preferences, that together with the other comments received have played a big part.
We did run a few surveys and most of what we have been doing is based upon the results, for example;
Improved Photo Ads, Site Searches and Extra Cams in Chat.
Basically the new site will first go live to the Mods/Ops to use (next 3-6 weeks). Then It can be used for a time for all the members with the existing site. So when you log in here you can follow a link and use the new site instead of this one. After we are happy everything is AOK we will remove the old site and the migration will be complete.
We have been working on this for about a year now and the Mods/Ops that attended the last meeting at the office here all liked the new designs a lot. Rather than force a whole load of change on everyone in one go we have broken it down into pieces. The new logo, and search etc has been on here for some time now.
The new "look" and "feel" site is a big upgrade as a lot of the navigational and usability issues have been addressed. After that update section by section we will be making further improvements on an ongoing basis.

Maybe we should have a "Bon Voyage" ceremony to say goodbye to the old girl when we go and pull the plug on her?. I know we did in the office last time around 3/4 years ago!. For all her faults she has been a good site.

Change is good, i've moderated and owned quite a few forums in my time, and some of the features available are excellent.
Maybe some artsy black and white photography type things would be cool.

what about the ability to drag and drop bits into a waste bin and the page re-arranges itself to take care of the gaps. You know the sort of thing - If it says something like - Location, rather than someone putting n/a they could just drag and drop that option from their page?
Also some indicator on the profile page that though the member may have 500 pics to view they are all in private so its not worth clicking the link without an invite
What about a living flame effect ot simlar background. I guess you could use a lot of the visualisation effects you get with media players?

Or what about if members could you some of their photos as backgrounds?
You know like you can make them backgrounds for websited, desktops etc?
Im not sure if that would work, for a few reasons.
Firstly im not sure technically if that would fit with what we are doing.
Secondly it might mean that there are 250,000 profile themes that are nothing more than "sausage shots".

Maybe a set of seasonals - winter, spring etc that we could set to suit the time of year?
Underwater - ripply blue with wavinf fronds of sea-weed and a few parrot fish nising through the coral.

I'm gonna have to come up with some kind of cunning ruse now to keep her away from the internets until this thread has sunk to at least page 10, and cunning ruses are not exactly my strong point. 
And then, at some point, I'll have to edit my last two posts on this thread, just in case she searches me forum posts and spies the pink and glittery bit.
