The news today, say he is fit to be considered for release.
He is cured(?) as long as he keeps taking his medication.
Should he be allowed to come out and mix with all us folk again?
I remember well, all the talks my parents gave to us girls about not going any where alone ever, as a result of this mans stalking and killing ladies in this area.
Would we be safe??
its beyond me how some people could deem someone like him fit for release, obviously there was something seriously wrong with his head back then and how can he be cured???same for pedophiles there is no cure for being evil,,maybe some other lag will do him in and do us all a favour,,mind you i cant see any home secretary letting his or her name be tarnished and labelled "the one who let the ripper go free"so i think he'll die where he belongs..JAIL
Sometimes I think it was a sad day we ever abolished hanging but as the old saying goes 2 wrongs don't make a right.
Now we have to pay to house n feed the likes of him for the rest of their lives, He is one sick person who should never be let out ever! and deserves to rot in hell if there is such a place.
No he should stay in prison.
Well if the Doctors say he is no longer a threat then by all means release him.......as long as he is lodged with the family(s) of said Doctors and is allowed to baby-sit their children / grandchildren.
If the Doctors don't like this idea, then perhaps he's not really cured after all??
John
After long discussions with the doctors, he is now deemed as low risk by the powers that be at Broadmoor.
It is being discussed that he be placed in a medium secure unit, which is the stepping stone to life in the world outside of prison.
His lawers are fighting his case.
Well I thought nothing would suprise me,but this certainly has.
If you ask anyone who they think is the most prolific KILLER they have heard of, I bet most would say the Yorkshire Ripper.
The guy murdered 13 women and tried to kill two others, and there could be even more than that.
These " Doctors " or whatever they are called, want locking up themselves. This guy is the most horrific of human beings, maybe one of the worst this country has ever known yet.....they feel this guy is " cured ". Bollox I say to that one.
This guy should have hanged. But because we are a so called civilised society, hanging is now not an option. So this guy should be forever locked away, and should rot and die either in " hospital ", or in prison.
IF there are any people out there in this mad world who feel this guy deserves anything, then let them take them in. I think not.
This could be the first road to this absolute animal being released. As I have said many times, this guy and others like him, should have done the Saddam shuffle, and saved us all the bollox associated with looking after them.
There are very few people that I would say are " incurable ", and he is one of them. Cured? Or just flipping clever? Because this guy was too clever for the police, as they took ages to capture him. I don't really think he was ever mad, but the people who think he is cured, are certainly as mad as the day is long, and want locking up themselves.
Is that a 'NO' then, Kenty?
He must remain In prison. Like FB I think if he's released then he would be found and killed. And as Lucy/Mike suggests being on medication and cured?? that don't quite work does it.
Should he be released ?
The day after The Devil goes to work on ice skates ;-)
If the doctor says he can be released and then goes on to kill someone, the doctor should go to prison as well.
If he has had a "cure" then that would mean he was ill and if he is ill, have a mental illnss, then surely he could be considered as not responsible for the actions he took. So if he was not responsible for his actions then why shouldn't he be released?
Lets just be absolutely clear what's been suggested. Noone, apart from Peter Sutcliffe's lawyer, is seriously suggesting that Peter Sutcliffe should one day be released. All that's being discussed is whether he's safe to be moved into the general prison population, presumably because Broadmoor can do no more with him, and it's a waste of time and taxpayers money to keep him there. While it's true that progressively moving prisoners through the various security categories in the prison system is often a precursor to release, I cannot see any Home Secretary in this country ever approving that. He will die in prison.
No mandatory life term prisoner can be considered for release until the minimum tariff set by the courts has been served. Peter Sutcliffe has never had his tariff set, presumably because he was deemed to be mentally ill. If he is moved because he's no longer mentally ill, then a court will at some point have to look at that, and for thirteen murders I suspect that he will be given a whole life tariff, meaning he will never, ever be released.
Neil x x x ;)
Never mind whether he's cured - he killed 13 women ffs - shouldn't his punishment for this be life behind bars - his interests shouldn't be a factor in deciding whether he should come out. He should stay inside for the rest of his life.
Erm.............................no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no, just springs to mind, we are all entitled to an opinion, thats just mine :swingingchair:
Broadmoor can't keep him if he is cured. Nor can they keep him if he is deemed incurable. Horrific but true (I understand).
If he is cured - he is a criminal not a psychiatrtic patient.
That doesn't affect the fact that he should never EVER be allowed to breathe the same air as decent people. For some, prison is a punishment and I am absolutely fine with that in this case.
leave the bastard where he is, he should never be released, and if hes cured why does he still need medication, anyway i didnt think you could be cured from being evil .
Nice to see kenty quoting tirades from the gutter press verbatim for a change.
Thank you Neal for the insight into the facts.
Seems to me if a person is no longer in need of residential care due to mental illness that the prison system would be a better place for them.
For those who can read, the Times online site has a reasonably balanced article about the issue.
