I reckon if it's that painful, you should maybe remove it, allow it to heal fully then have it done again in the future. My navel piercing never really settled and began to grow out, so I removed it.
That's just what my navel was like Jon, not infected - just a bit crusty. I removed it because it was beginning to grow out anyway and I didn't want it to get to the stage where there was so little skin that it might have got caught on clothing and ripped out
It doesn't sound as if much air will be circulating due to tightness if the second bar is bigger than the first though - maybe that's why it's painful?
 Bloody hell that sounds bad, hun. If it's been over a week and the frostbite hurts, I'd go to the doctor.
Mmmmmm......nice nips
I wanted to have my nipples and my hood pierced, but after the disaster of having my tongue pierced I'd rather not.
My gums started bleeding, I got ear infection, swollen glands and a sore throat. The infectin worked itself through me (thanks smoking muff for you advise and medical knowledge) causing my tummy to burn every time I ate and then I had the problem with farting every time I coughed and it got worse
So no, as nice as those piercings are no more for me.
I'lll enjoy piercings on partners instead
