today is the first anniversary of a young working girls murder, she was stabbed here in sheffield,as yet no ones ever been caught, she left behind 2 young children,........yes,make it legal, take it off the streets, least the girls would b safe................tc hutchy
Our society is so hypocritical - the same local newspapers that condemn it on their front pages run loads of ads for it in their Personals - I saw a thing a few years back on TV - it was worth about £8,000,000 a year in advertising revenue even then to the big local press syndicates.
You know someone reading this will have worked or work in the sex industry in this will know better than any of us the absurd contradictions in our hung up culture, the lack of respect and lack of care about them as fellow human a very important issue because if we are part of a movement toward a better, freer, fairer ,more liberated world then we should care about them too.
seems like there are many views on this thread, and all very interesting, glad its created much interest,And many thanks TallHairy, appology excepted with gratitude.
seems like have a big debate going here.
Most of us for legalising it are for it to try and get rid of these pimps. They will always be around, all you can do is offer the girls a way out if they want to take it, and go for the pimps whenever you find them.
Prostitution in this country is legal (as has been said before). One day one of these people we vote into Westminster will have the balls to stand up and propose that the mess be sorted out.

Lets face it, never will the seedy side of prostitution be eradicated. If you make it legal in terms of accessibility then the pimps will just search out girls of a younger age or of foreign nationality.
You will never ever stop this.
You can though make an alternative, if you legalise brothels, maintain health and security for the girls working and regulate the industry. It may smack of big brother to do such but at the end of the day would you prefer 16 year old (or less) girls on the street or have them submit to stringent checks to work?
If society makes prostitution more "acceptable" and "accessible" then you take away the shame. If a person wants to visit a brothel then so be it ... better than picking up someone off a street.
I've heard it said many times ... would you like a brothel in your neighbourhood? Well personally if stops the girls standing on the corner, being beaten by pimps, ruled by drugs and all sorts of trouble then yep, I'd happily support a brothel if it was well run and regulated.

Sex work is legal in the UK, but subject to various rules and regs. Soliciting directly is illegal. Escort agencies, massage parlours etc. all operate as legitimate businesses, although it is understood that they front sex workers.
A controversy was raised recently in Germany. People on the dole were being directed to fringe jobs in the sex industry as legitimate offers of work. They were likely to lose dole if they did not show willing to attend the interviews. How about that?
It interests me that the whole discussion on this thread has focussed on the legal and financial aspects of prostitution and not one mention of the emotional and moral aspects of wether a person with financial strength should be able to compel another person to have sex with them in order to ensure their own financial survival . Its a very hot potato of a subject , especially in such an ambiguous arena as this forum , but in my own opinion it shouldnt be legal simply because it is wrong .

These are professional women. Speak to them. They are in the upper end of the providers market. Some will speak to you about their work. But you'll be expected to pay for their time............
There are people who would consider swinging doubtful in terms of emotional and moral integrity. How would you convince them?
I guess what we are discussing here is the balance between emotional and job satisfaction and regrettably, I think we may have to agree to disagree.
Escorting isn't merely a business trade but selling your body for someone's physical gratification. I won’t begin to scratch the emotional surface but I’m sure some will agree, there's more job satisfaction from grafting a day's work then having some sweaty bloke off the street negotiating a price on a blow job and sex, chuckin’ his muck and then leaving his condom in the bin to pile up with the others. Let’s face it, Prostitution isn’t Richard Gere and Julia Roberts, and the realistic side of the job, both punter and escort is physically and psychologically frightening.
Don't get me wrong, I firmly believe that people have the right to do with their bodies what they wish! I commend it. For those who prefer to play in unconventional arenas and for the ones they chose to play with, may you discover what you were searching for and have a hell of a lot of fun while yer trying.
When that unconventional arena becomes a job is when it’s frightening.
Just a point....
90% of clients of working girls are married or in a long term relationship They view it as not cheating on their partners
I hope you never have to find out Fox .
Its a subject more suited elsewhere so ill say no more .
