Re-forming the band....

Recently, a lot of bands have been re-forming and solo singers making a comeback. Mostly 80's artists, so good for me! I grew up in the 80's so getting very nostaglic! The only problem is seeing someone I had a mad crush on 20 years down the line .... I have been watching a programme on UK Living about bands getting makeovers then putting on a one off performance... was quite scary...
Anyway, my question is, which band from whichever decade would you like to see re-form? I would love to see The Beat or The Specials play again... what about you? Be interesting to see what you all think!
HAve already seen The Beat a few times so got that one tucked away.
and The Specials...bring it on!!! Going to their gig at the Ricoh arena in Cov...
But apart from them, saw Echo and the Bunnymen last year class. older but still class.
However i think along with a load of other 30/40 somethings i'd love to see The Jam do a 'farewell tour'
Echo and the Bunnymen.. wow that brings back memories!
Just thought of other bands... I would love to see the original T Rex reform, but sadly that won't happen. And Mud too.... and the Sweet... getting very very nostalgic now!
biggrin
Led Zep with John Bonham lol yeah that's gunna be impossible but
Last year i went to see The Wonderstuff for the 20th aniversary of their debut album '8 legged groove machine' and it was at the same venue where i first saw them. They played the entire album in sequence with 3000 people singing along at top volume. Although two of the original four members aren't here now the replacments were excellent and it was a top night.
The following month i saw EMF, who just didn't seem to have the same energy they did 15 years ago so i'm glad i didn't have to pay to get in.
The one band i'd love to see back together is The Family CAt (i know, you've never heard of them) a fantastic and very under rated indie band of the late 80's/ early 90's. I have their CD's on at least once a week but unfortunatley they've pretty much ruled out ever reforming sad
I'm also hoping ongoing rumours that the Stone Roses will be touring this year come to fruition biggrin

There were a few swingers there that night :haha:
hopig to see them again soon, there's another gig coming up. now, if we can just get a Neds/Poppies?Stuffies triple bill i'll be a really happy man
I might be going mad but I'm sure the Family Cat supported one of the Carter USM reunion gigs last year or the one before. Now those were amazing gigs smile
I've been lucky as I've seen the two reunion gigs I always wanted, PWEI and Carter USM. I've got tickets to the next Carter gig in Brixton already ( ).

The Carter gigs at the end of last year were supported by EMF and The VileEvils (half of PWEI) but if The Family CAt are playing again i neeeeeeeeeed to know biggrin
The Poppies gig a few years ago was superb. They're hopfully doing another tour (and maybe even an album  ) in the not too distant, just as soon as Clint can spare 5 minutes from being all Hollywood to fit it in
I see Spandau Belly are back .... oops I mean Ballet.. :silly:
I'd go for a Prince and the Revolution one off gig. That'd be top
Some of you are showing your age on this thread!! biggrin
So I am saying nothing :gagged:
the beat are still together and playing live dates

a friend recently went and saw them.
xxfem xx
yeah if you live in or around the west midlands you can often find The Beat in the Bear at Bearwood, Rankin Roger is quite often there when their not tourin...
They quite often play gigs in the upstairs room ...went about 3years ago and cost me the princely sum of 3 quid!!!!
Wow! Lots of bands I had forgotten about.... it was Spandau Ballet that actually made me think about posting this thread...
Wish some of these bands would come to the city of dreaming spires... well I can dream!
did someone mention PWEI?
I'd like to see them again.

The Monkees! biggrin
John Squire commented on a Stone Roses reunion recently...
"When Esler asked if there was "any chance" Squire would reunite with The Stone Roses, the guitarist answered: "None whatsoever."
The presenter then questioned whether never meant "absolutely" never.
"Yeah. I'd rather live my life than attempt to rehash it," Squire replied.
"It would be pointless. I find art far more challenging and rewarding."
Esler then asked Squire a final time if he was completely sure about his remarks. The guitarist paused briefly before giving his answer.
"Yeah. That's the whole point of the visit to your studio - I'm trying to stop the phones ringing."
Squire went on to reveal that he hasn't spoken to frontman Ian Brown since leaving The Stone Roses in 1996."
So look forward to that one next year ! smile
As for The Jam...
Paul Weller, who will get a lifetime achievement prize at the Brit Awards, has said he would reform The Jam only if his children were "destitute"
Every reformed band I've ever seen have been a disappointment, whether a full line-up or partial due to fallings out/deaths/whatever !

I saw them a few years ago, the place was full of Andrew Eldridge look-a-likeies, then he strolled on stage with short, bleached blond hair, wearing a white shell suit rotflmao
I'd rather like to see Siouxsie & the Banshees and The Cult and today, it suddenly dawned on me that i've never seen Faithless  something i will certanly rectify if they tour again
