Hmmm.....I know in the past there has been a Real Ale festival meet among the good folks of SH!
I have a neighbour who is friends with someone who works at the local independant brewery.....result? Out of season crates of divine Christmas Ale at 50p a bottle :smug:
Real ale festival is very well attended down in Plymouth (11/12TH JULY THIS YEAR)
Lots of young ladies and men as well as the beard & sandal brigade.
Love It!!
I totally love ale now. We recently moved to Canada and in the UK I was a red wine drinker. But here red wine is expensive and sometimes not that good. So been trying the local micro- breweries and mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. The two breweries we love are Tree brewery and Big Rock. Both of which don't pasteurise their beers or add any additives. At the moment I am loving the Thirsty Beaver (lol) and Cutthroat both from Tree Breweries.
There websites in case you are really interested lol.
Have you tried any of the Canadian brews from Unibroue and Brick?
no haven't super but I will keep a look out for the ty for that.

I love real ale. It does seem to be coming back into favour recently which is nice, at one time when you went to most pubs the only thing thay would have on tap would be lager or Guinness.

You need Harry Jones, he knows about real ales.
I love (some) real ales, though as I love driving more than drinking beers I dont get the chance to drink it often and i do like to drink it in a pub not at home. My favourite cask ale used to be 'Tanglefoot' A real Quaffing beer for me two or three pints at most but I could really get enjoy knecking them. Nowadays though I like Uley Brewery Pigs ear, i think its at least a year now since i've had a glass  Worth buying a small cask of it for a bbq though!

I love real ale, that and wine are all i ever drink :haha:
I even used to work for one of the london breweries, and if a pub does not serve it i walk out and find a pub that will, unless of course im with friends then i have to have guiness

Real ale gets the vote here too, nothing beats a pint of Old Thrunger or some suitable-named beverage.
We also pay homage to the hop at local beer festivals, it's noticeable how the average age is reducing (or is it just us getting older?).
i used to like a pink (or 2) of "the old speckled hen" not sure if you can get it though
Whenever I see buttcombe on tap I have to have it. Apart from being a damn fine beer it brings a smile to the bartender's face.
"Can I have a pint of your best Buttcombe please?" works every time.
Adams is also very good but lacks the comedy value, Fox's Knob has the comedy but isn't such a nice pint.
Ahhhh, beers I have known and loved.
