Lets be honest here and say that until the benefit system is over hauled, people will always want to come here for free everything. Free housing, free health care, benefits galore, christ we even paying millions to eastern European workers kids ffs. The benefit system is open to every scrounger there is, and the lazy work shy.
Allow me to retort.

not sure if this is aimed at everyone on benefits (of which I am one!!!) or just the immigrants who arrive in this country and claim benefits.

Its a quote from another thread... Ben didnt want hijack that particular thread. So has started another on a subject that was brought up.
Im too tired to reply to this properly tonight! Will come back to it tomrrow...
Hi Marks - I think confused its good to see you - welcome back biggrin
As for migrant workers from Eastern Europe go, I must admit to being really impressed by how polite and hard working they all seem to be. The only trouble i seem to have experienced is in sometimes getting across what I want to say, as some have just a limited understanding of English. Which let's face it is only to be expected. I respect the fact that they have any at all it can't be easy.

Mrs B,
No, its not 'aimed' at either. There are those who like to moan about certain 'groups' and if Im right, that is who this thread is 'aimed' at.

^^^^^^ this last little bit could be construed as inflammatory though lol ^^^^^^
The way in which debate can take place is by people having different viewpoints , having different outlooks on the same subjects. This can of course lead to people being even outraged at points. However if people keep their heads and don't let arguement/debate descend into nasty crap . then saying contentious things in contentious ways can deliver stimulating thought and comment. confused
How a person perceives something maybe different to another, It maybe worth remembering that their experiences may be delivering them to a different set of conclusions. biggrin
If we all agreed with one another and never dissented that might make life a little bland. Thats why I@m quite happy to say that the worst town in my experience is Swindon! I hate the place with a vengeance. The people for the most part as in other towns are great. But the place oh god the place. And that is how through my experiences i perceive the town.wink

Im not psychic either, just read what has being quoted on the other thread quite recently.
You'd think after all these years here I would have learnt by now how to put links into threads but I havent rolleyes confused Sorry I couldnt point you in the direction needed, thanks Anais for doing the honours, as you should have done in the 1st place smackbottom But since you were tired, you are forgiven kiss
I've not read any other posts on similar subjects, I just read this one properly :-)
I'm in total agreement. I hate the knee jerk / John Gaunt / Dail Mail style reaction to such matters. Unfortunately "Save it for the golf club" is more like "Save it for the work place" as too many people believe the right wing rhetoric in my opinion.

And who's to say your comments aren't considered loud and stupid dunno
Ben, the quote from 'that person' is their own thoughts you shouldn't really pull it to bits.
However, as you've started a thread on the subject I'll comment.
Whilst there is a benefit system, people will always access it, and sometimes by whatever means. Maybe the person you are quoting should've used a different word other than 'scroungers', but to be fair there ARE some people in this country that 'play' the system, so yes they are taking the mick and scrounging.
No matter which policitical party is in, there will always be some form of assistance and therefore there will always be some people who will take advantage of that, that's life I'm afraid.
As I've said maybe if it was worded differently you wouldn't have got so upset, but I repeat it was their own thoughts just as yours are.

Have you had a make-over??
I think what makes me cross isnt the expression of the views folk hold. I love a debate. Which is why I started the thread.
I started a new thread becasue the views I quoted had hijacked the main subject of several other threads. I thought it might be healthy to have a thread devoted to the persecution of minority groups. I thought maybe this way, other more interesting and well informed debates could prosper.
TY Anais for clearing up the ramblings of my febrile mind.
Ty Jay for your thoughts, I think I have every right to comment on the posts of others. I dleiberately did not link the thread wanting to use the opinions expressed as a spring board rather than flame any other forum memeber.

The persecution of minority groups always leads to unrest - whether it be whole country/ies, or a small forum board. Personally I would say, within the legal boundary, live and let live, be open minded and embrace other peoples views/opinions/ways of life. You learn bluddy loads. Just don't try and change/convert me and give me the same respect I give you cool
Except for the benefit leech minority mad
The system is a superb concept which has helped millions of people, whether as a platform, or for the few that there is no other option.
What galls me tho is that I'm on a very average wage. I can pay my mortgage, just about run an old car, and providing it's blue and white striped, can put food on the table. Apart from the odd munch, I cannot afford to go out of an evening, David has to pay for that luxury lol
Yet when we do go out I always see a couple of people I know that the only work they've ever done, is work the benefit system :x If I didn't have to pay for their nights down the pub, I might be able to buy the kids clothes from other places apart from ebay, just like they do :x
I really do begrudge paying taxes for some people to have more money and a more luxurious lifestyle than I have. Even more galling is if I know of these few people personally, how many others are there
Don't get me wrong, I'm extremely happy with my lifestyle, the very least it's done is taught the kids the value of money. But why the bluddy ell should I have to help pay for the benefit leeches :x
Classic example was last year, one of said benefit leeches I know went on holiday abroad for a week, and in contrast, my youngest had to make do with a virtually empty field and a pile of builders sand for a weekend ........ luckily it was also bluddy raining, so said youngest had several worms to build sand castles for confused ............ rotflmao that sounds really funny now, and it was a cracking weekend that's given us a memory that, in reality is priceless. But I remember at the time thinking of the difference between the two holidays and the fact I helped pay for their more luxurious one evil Had I not had to help, maybe I could've afforded a bucket for my youngest!
Thats the legal minority I don't support or respect the viewpoints of, the benefit leeches, that ruin a bluddy good system for the people that really need it :x I just don't know how they get away with it, not only that, but for so long  Unless I'm missing something, which of course I could be...... don't judge until you've walked a mile in their shoes and all that .......... or in some peoples cases flipflops

You're welcome wink of course you do and did comment on posts of others, but you must expect some feedback for doing so, that's all I'm saying.
Missy............ I love reading your posts! biggrin
We receive benefits in the way of "working tax credits" I feakin hate them I freakin freakin do. The benefit system should in my mind be there as a mostly temporary safety net against extreme poverty, or as Missy says "for the few that there is no option"
Wouldn't it be nice if we earned just enough to be able not to haveto resort to chikd tax crdits. Sometimes I think its used to pat themselves, the government, on their backs. Saying, "Oh how good are we another 500,000+ receiving money from the state"
Money from who!! ffs money from themselves and others back??
I would like to see

Money in from wage/salary -----> money out in bills etc = enough for just a little over.
Not
wage + working families tax credit + child tax credits + housing benefit + council tax benefit ----> money out in bills = By this time fu*k knows coz it changes every week

You say these things and yet if we didn't say and complain about them the way we do, maybe if we just put up and shut up then things would be a lot worse than they are. Whats wrong with wanting better for everyone when by what we see, better can be acheived?
There is always a point to wanting something better..
Appreciating what you have is also a valid point.
But when it comes to politics and debate about political issues and wanting to 'make a difference'. Is a more useful tack to be involved in the interwebnet forums that debate these issues, sending letters to your MP or other influential people. Setting up your own forums or public routes of expression and change etc etc
Or whining on a swingers site ?

I just see poorly educated people who can't spell enough to complain properly.
Flowers and Lost have pretty much covered the foreign worker angle. I have no problem with them and correct, they (most) work their butts off in the unskilled, minimum wage type jobs which they have because the many wankers who are happy on the dole wouldn't and wont do them.
My/ the problem is with the system, we have no quotas etc unlike our equal European buddies that do and as such far to many have been allowed to come and thus the unfortunate leaving school with only the minimum wage path to take or the people made redundant who need to earn money as soon as whilst they get back on the feet and similar now find that they cannot go any work order picking in a factory. Don't blame the Eastern Europeans, blame Labour for letting it happen!

It is not aimed at you bonedigger or the many many people who need to use the benefit system, of which I have been one of them in the past. The benefit system is there as a safety net for people who need to use it in an honest way.
My Daughter claims it at the moment. I have decided NOT to respond to the original poster of this thread,as he knows and many others do now, that I wrote that original reply on another thread. I am allowed to express MY opinion and it is only that...MY opinion for which I am entitled to have, just as everyone else does. To reply would only inflame a situation to which there would be no point in doing. I respect his comments and hope he respects mine...whoever is right or wrong.
