as the title says
soon the new NO SMOKING law will be introduced so how will it effect you,
will you give up?
will you only go to doggin site now?
will you like the ban no more smelly clothes etc?
will it effect the places you will go?
Means I can come home from the pub without smelling like an ashtray :bounce: :bounce:
for him it means he will be even grumpier than he is now rolleyes but for me means i wont spend my nights out wiping my streaming eyes! lol
We've had the smoking ban in Scotland for over a year now and it's bloody wonderful. No more stinky clothes or hair at the end of a night out. No more having a 'smokers' cough after a night out. It's great to go into a pub and there not being a smog over it, and if having to eat in the pub, you can eat your food without getting a mouthful of someone elses smoke.
I recently went on holiday to a country where smoking in pubs etc is still accepted and it was awful having been used to socialising in Scotland for the past year.

Funny you should say that. Last Sunday afternoon we went to get to kids from my parents house. Child 3 kindly told me I was smelly which I was a bit miffed about.
Turns out he could smell smoke in my hair from the night before and I'm a non-smoker rolleyes
Hopefully it will mean when i go for a shit at work...i won't have to worry about all the cigarettes butts and fucking fag ash on the floor around the toilet!....f**king dirty bastards!
i cant wait for the smoking ban to come in.
it will mean a much more plesent evening when i go out, i often feel sick from the amount of smoke in pubs.
it will also be nice to know im not going to get a burn in my clothes or hair from trying to get past people with fags in their hands in crowded pubs.
i do wonder how the clubs and pubs are going to cope with so many people out in the street, and i hope i dont have to now fight my way through 50 smokers to get through the front door, or tredge through thousands of butts in the street.
i think if youve been attending swinging clubs it wont force you out into the past time of doggin, i think thats a whole diffrent ethos.
its worked else where im sure it will work here.
i do feel for the smokers, after all smoking isnt ilegeal, just where you can do it now. just one of those things that the habit of smoking causes risk and discomfort to those who have until now had to like it or not go out.

Now all the pubs will smell of larger-farts as the smoke won't be there to mask the smell.
Interesting point about smoking outside, I was in Ireland last year and we went into a pub for some food. it was early when we went in but by the time we left the place was packed, we had to walk through a colum of smokers just outside the door, was a hold your breath and run thing really horrible. I hope that does not happen here. mad

Hopefully businesses will install shelters outside for smokers... if you smoke and your local pub/restaurant/workplace don't have them... then ask if they intend to get one!
How will it affect me?
I'll be sat on my own while he nips out for a ciggie break. It's something I'm used to already with restaurants cos there is a no smoking policy in place already.
Just wondering if loads of people give up, then where will the government get their extra revenue from?

Yeah i kno i work on a building site and its the same there the smell of builders shit mixed with fag ash and smoke is something nobody should have to endure!!
As someone else mentioned the fact that i wont come home from my very rare nights out, rare because of the very same reason, smelling like an ash tray and waking up with a slight headache but feeling sick because of the smell of smoke.
It really does knock me sick, i realise smokers dont kno how bad it is as they are used to it but for a non smoker its really rough!!
Bring on the Public Smoking Ban, all you fag smokers go to your room (the designated smoking room) lol
Hopefully from 1st July we will stop being whinged at by the non-smokers lol
We will smoke where we are allowed and you can have the places where we are banned from. If you come into our domain then don't complain of the smoke. A bit like swimming where sharks are then complaining that you got bit

Studies show that only 30% of people do. I carried out a similar study, albeit on a smaller scale (300 compared to the original study group of 30,000) and came up with the same percentage. I undertook my study at McDonalds where they eat with their hands. Lovely people........and I bet they complain that the food place gave them food poisoning lol

it can't come quick enough for me.... at last i can go out and actualy smell peoples perfume etc.... i can come home and not throw my clothes straight into wash...and not jump straight into shower to wash m hair.
can't wait..bring it on.

You wouldn't do this when the smoking ban comes in
So this is where the saying came from that you can get two days use out of a pair of underpants......the right way around and inside out.........four days if you turn them around as well lol

Hooray roll on the 1st of July
I will be able to grab a coffee from the machine without having to worry the smoking rm door will open & i'll be shrouded in smoke from a dozen dodgy brands bought off a mkt stall :thrilled:
I'll take great glee watching the smokers in the dead of winter all huddled under the canopy the company is erecting for them on the grass with the sleet & rain pouring down :evil2: greedily sucking down :smoke:
And heres a hope a very slim one though that the company will get the truck cabs cleaned of all the grime the smoke leaves behind
Does this mean ive gotta sent Stileto up the garden for a :smoke: confused:
Am I brave enough to sent her up the garden dunno
I'm pushing to get home from work earlier.
Smokers are given two 15 minute breaks during the day to go outside for a fag.
Those of us that dont smoke are asking for the same two breaks. only we want ours 4:30 - 4:45 and then 4:45 to 5:00.
If it doesn't happen, I'll go stand outside with the smokers and take my diet coke with me.

Just wondering if loads of people give up, then where will the government get their extra revenue from?

Could they possibly put income tax up? Loose the national health service & make it all private???
:smoke:

Im guessing (though i dont know) that the amount of money saved through decreasing numbers of smoking related illness would offset the lack of revenue.

In a few decades time may be. In the meantime they can up the tax on 4x4's again lol

We've had the smoking ban since early April over here and it's nice to sit in a smoke-free pub/restaurant now.
The downside is having to walk in the road because the pavements outside the pubs are full of smokers confused

don't quote me on this...nor ask me where I got the info... Im old, the mind is weak... the memory short...
but:
I heard... That the amount of revenue gained from smokers, far outwieghs the monies spent on the illness related to smoking...
this was a few years ago, and as the number of smokers has dropped, I guess the balance is a tad closer now... though I suspect the govt will be losing out big stayle all the same should we (self included) smokers all gave up at once.
one reason that I hold for my own cessation of smoking is my resentfull feeling towards all the extra cash I line the coffers (coughers???) with!
lp
The only way it will affect me is I will be sat on my own most of the time while all my friends are outside puffing and when they get back they will be busy moaning about how they have to go outside to have a fag!

Well god forbid if they banned alcohol in that case.

Or east of the border wink . There's no doubt that if your not a smoker pubs and restaurants are much more pleasant places in Wales since the 1 April.
The smart breweries/landlords have created a covered area outside to cater for those who do smoke. Seems to work just now but it'll be a bit different next January.
.
Well I know people who smoke will find it terribly hard and I do feel sorry for them but personally for me 1st July can't come quickly enough. I am extremely sensitive to smoke and when ever I go in a smokey room I feel ill. I have to pay the price for socialising in pubs and clubs with my health. I hate the smell on me. I get a raging sore throat the next day cause of other people smoking near me and sometimes if I have 2 or 3 people smoking near me I will cough, sneeze, have a runny nose and my eyes water, I get a headache and struggle to breath. So for me 1st July is.
Yippee Yippee Yippee Yippee
Bring it on ... can't wait ... hip hip hurray.

Smoking raises £10 billion per annum for the exchequer.
Smoking related disease costs £1.7 billion to treat.
Alcohol related problems cost society £20 billion a year to deal with. When was the last time there was a huge hike on alcohol tax? Or in fact a ban mooted
Obesity related illness costs £500 million to directly treat and £2 billion when other social factors are taken into account plus it directly causes 9000 cancer cases per year. Shall we tax rich foods?
Im more concerned with the next thing on the 'ban' list, because lets face it, some folks arn't happy unless their moaning about something.....where does it end?
