Blah blah. As for the bicep posturing at the end....cringe worthy!
I'll support a lot of sports, just because they are British contenders, but tennis just gets my goat.
I may eat my words, and I'd love to, but why are we resigned to supporting also rans, has been's and no hopers these days?
Sorry, I just I guess I'm not a huge tennis fan rolleyes
it was the fact that he was down and out... 2 sets down, facing a match point and came back....
wow....
he got the crowd into the game, and that is what made it special...
the other thing is that seeing he between where he was and where he is now... he has grown up a lot temprement wise and it makes he a different person
as for sports personality of the year.... I am waiting for the olympics first before crowning joe calzaghe again... ooops!!!!! lol
well done Andy bring on Nadal, have lost my voice
Yep, fair play to him, great match.
And as for the bicep posturing, well I'm guessing it was a funny dig at all the folk who have criticised his fitness levels in previous years. A tongue in cheek homage to his new fitness coaches... but hey, let him enjoy the moment I say!
For some reason I just can't take to him although I do want him to win.
He was using the mainly English crowd as a weapon against his a opponent yet in previous interviews has been very vocal about his Scottishness and is a little anti English in my opinion. I admire him for this but he can't have it both ways.
i thought he did well...he came back from being behind and its something to be proud of surely !
i saw him on the jonathon ross show and he seems a nice lad
good luck andy

i didnt know he was scottish, just thought he was british, iv not heard him make any anti english comments
i remember david coulthard (F1 driver) making comments
about being scottish and not british and that annoyed me so much that i never cheered for him at all since then
having said that...if anyone asks me my nationality i say im english rather than british lol

David Coulthard comes across as a much nicer person though. Andy Murray irritates me, every time I see him I want to punch him.

Kryton (Coulthard) flies the Scottish flag at every opportunity yet still prides himself on being a member of the BRDC (British Racing Drivers Club)....

I think the clue may be in the word "British", as opposed to "English"?
:dunno:

But he tells interviewers when asked(with some vigour) that he is not British but Scottish and he races under the Scottish flag....
Why doesn't he go start the SRDC :lol2:

Hmmmm.... I must pass at least 6 tennis clubs on the way to work. In Merseyside. Oh and it's taught in all the local schools round here. In my part of Merseyside.
My geography must be shite... coulda sworn we were North of Brum!!
wink
Doesnt matter what the miserable git might think he is, he just needs to look at his passport.
Fair play to him though, he did well.
Bless him ......... he came second! :rascal:

:lol2:
i don't like the arrogant git - ever since 2006 when he said he would support every team that England played against in the world cup. he's since made it known that he doesn't like the english, yet hes happy to have us support him. Well done Nadal!!!

My thoughts exactly.....and I'm from Scotlandshire myself. ( Thats not my phrase but my Eng-a-lish hubby Harry! )

Spent years pissed off with the whole chip on shoulder, support anyone but the english philosophy of some. And that started long long before I met Harry.
I can even pin point the time that I did start feeling that way.
1990 - World Cup - England playing Germany in the Semis and a bunch of Scottish hockey players singing Deutchland Deutchland Uber Alles...and me trying to entertain a group of visiting English workmates on a training course.
Never felt so ashamed of some of my own countrymen in my life!
