being on nearly a year here.......in the last 4 months i have decoverd that some mods keep in hiding
I have to admit that i find it annoying!.
like if we want to pm them for some reason like ............is it OK to put a another post in... about what ever ..............or i have this prob can you help etc

I am in hiding right now, I am pmming with a mate and opping in the chatroom and would not be able to give full cover in my Mods status.
I leave myself 'in hinding' because I leave the site up all day on my machine, even when I am not in the house. That gives the impression I would be here to help with I wouldn't be.
So showing myself you make me look like I was rude for not answering someone with a query.

I don't blame any Mod for hiding. They are not public property and the fact that other members will want an immediate response if they are on line when PM'd is part of the reason why I think they probably should hide. They're here to enjoy themselves as well as Mod the site, which takes a helluva lot of time anyway. So they should be entitled to respond in a timescale which suits them.
I can't believe that any member really needs a response so quickly that they need the services of a Mod on tap so to speak. They're not paid - so hide away I say.

Which somedays is alot when you lot have lots to say...........when I have caught up then I tend to come out of hiding. Debs I think that its just pot luck who you pm.

If we have a prob .............. like instanly...and no mod is showing!....were do we go!...... who do we no whos modarating at that time to pm

Nope, like MrsFC said, we all have busy lives away from here so its luck of the draw if there is someone here to answer or not.
I don't think some people realise how much time and effort mods put in as it is, its almost impossible for us to be here 24 hours a day. I didn't have a clue before I became a mod and sometimes I wonder why I did :shock:

Some times though, when you spot a post that is in breach of the AUP it would be nice to know who you can get in a hurry, maybe the black dalek should install the 'report this post' (yellow card) hack or something similar..........................
I am aware of the abuse@ link, but thats not as quick as grabbing someone who's on line at the time to 'take appropriate action' against the offending post - the report hack pm's and emails all Mods when activated, so will get a response if one is on line......

The site is run and owned by the mighty Mark and the heavenly Helen.... us Mods just babysit it for them.
As Dawn said, we all have busy lives to lead and then there's here to look after. I'm often hidden but that's cos I spend a lot of time patrolling the photo ads system and not actually doing anything in the forum. If people saw me logged in and wanted something I wouldn#t actually be here. But then we're not on tap and available to the members whenever they want us... grief!
Apart from deleting twatty threads, deactivating twatty people, moving the blatantly commercial posts away, coping with the spammers in the photo ads, dealing with teenagers, dealing with twatty drunk people who post rubbish, dealing with the banned people trying to get back on, deactivating people who post for illegal activites, talking to other mods, talking to my friends AND drinking a cup of tea we don' t often get time to actually enjoy ourselves. :cry: :cry: People seem to only see Mods as Mods and not ordinary members who have been entrusted with a guardianship role.
As to how Mods are apppointed - apart from those of us who were selected by Mark many moons ago - we occasionally need new Mods and then we get together, debate, spit, argue and finally come up with those whom we think are reliable, firm, fair and trustworthy. And then the PMs get sent out! And after the person concerned gets up off the floor they get panicky, excited, nervous and finally overwhelmed!

I agree %100, our mods do a great job and they do it selflessly as well.
Seeing that they do it out of the goodness of their hearts to help make this a better place for us all I think they all deserve a great big Thank You

If I'm tarting - sorry, I mean having a deep and meaningful conversation - in PM, or I just have time to read a few threads and don't want to get into a PM exchange at the moment, then I will go invisible just to avoid getting distracted. It's not that I'm hiding exactly, it's just that sometimes it's not convenient to get into a long exchange and I feel guilty if i have to say "sorry, I can't talk to you right now" so I avoid it by going in stealth mode.
As for mods, I expect they are often too busy with their duties to get involved in discussions, but need to log on in order to carry out those duties, so they need to avoid distractions too.
I suppose if no mods are visible and you really need to speak to one urgently, you could always put in a post along the lines of "Any mod online and available please PM me."

I don't see why the mods shouldn't hide, to be honest. What's good for us is almost certainly better for them, they would be bombarded with pms constantly. I think we just have to accept that if we pm a mod, we might not get an instant response.

I think that just about covers it
now if only someone had of said all that to me before I said yes :shock: When I accepted the mods position I thought it would be great to put something back into a site that has helped me have so much fun. I don't mean just the swinging, the social side of being here is excellent. Some of the friendships this place has given me are amazing. I guess thats still the way I look at it, besides, if I can't break my addiction then I might as well fuel it

I hide when I want to come on here and be a SWINGER, which is what I use the site for - after all it is a SWINGERS site. Sometimes I do not what people pestering me about mod issues. We don't get paid for this, it is not our job, so if I don't want people PMing me with mod issues, I will stay hidden. I don't owe anyone a service, so if people get annoyed when I hide, sorry, but tough shit!
