Four for a penny?
I can just about remember 1/2 penny sweets, but when 1/2p coins were taken out of circulation they all suddenly became penny chews. sad

Love Hearts,
Why has nobody mentioned "Love Hearts"? I wanted to wrap up a tube for Tom at one of our first Christmases and I couldn't find one anywhere. So disappointed.
Mollie

Am sure they are still widely avaliable..
They are still around, my 4 yr old son loves them and gives some to me :inlove:
Then I thank you Gen Herts Cpl and TalNFun and I'l llook again. Christams is almost upon us and I would really and truly love to give him a tube of these sweets. I thought they had gone.
Love
Mollie xxx
I used to eat these hard sweets and they were pink and white and tiny.....does anyone know the name of them?
Also, I know that they aren't sweets.....but whenever I go to America I drink Mountain Dew and I can't get it anywhere in this Country....does anyone know by any chance a Website where I can order it?

Showing my age here but I think the same thing happened when we went decimal
i get most of the sweets mentioned for my shop, if anyone wants anything in particular i can get bulk (the big jars) at very reasonable prices.
pm me if you want something specific.
smile
Not a big chocaholic but called in the shop tonight as I really fancied some chocolate, went in search of a Topic but couldn't see one so thought I'd have a Picnic, none of those either sad panic set in so had to push past the kids to get a closer look  ended up getting a Bounty confused
Was it just bad luck on my part or have these now disappeared from our shelves?

Texan bars have recently been revived, but they are a fair bit smaller than the original size.
I guess even Texans suffer from shrinkage. lol
Tonibell mini-balls ......ice-cream you can kick
I used to love that stuff so much...not politically correct now.
Then again I have never smoked...the smell of smokers has always put me off..
will
Horlicks "tablets"!

I cant drink that as it tastes to much like penicillin and I'm alergic to that so I end up with psycosimatic (or how ever its spelt) symtoms, lol, and end up feeling hot and sweatty and throwing up!
I havnt re-read all the thread but I used to love cola cubes, space invaders, and sherbet dips.
The dips of new are not the same as the ones of old...
Oh and polos.... they used to be so much bigger when I was younger! The price hasnt increased much but they've made them smaller to keep the price down.
And waggon wheels... not as big as they used to be.
And its not my size now compared to then lol.

mmmmmmmmm my mouths watering thinking about all the sweets.........
Had forgotten about sweet tabacco!

try this place for sweet tobacco ( also known at the time as Spanish Gold )

It can work out expensive but OMG it's worth it !!!!
You can still get most of these sweets. The only problem is finding a shop which sells all the varieties. I came across a sweetie shop which had Sherbert Fountains, Bullseyes, gob stoppers, Sweet Tobacco and many others. There were a good hundred and more varieties. So they are still made.

... SPANGLES ....
Yeah acid drop Spangles. Made your tongue ache after sucking too many.
Try and chew bubble gum (not chewing gum) and a black jack at the same time.........sticks to your teeth, roof of mouth....everything. Yummy!
Liqourice isn't what it used to be, I like the bassetts hard liqourice sticks very hard to find but very tasty if that qualifies.

You sure we're talking Spangles here? dunno :giggle:
its making my mouth water thinking of all these sweets, especially the cola cube and pinaple cubes, my fav was that stuff you put on your tongue and it crackled, or if you bit it in your front teeth it make a great gun lol
Kola Kubes are still available from most good sweet shops... however, I haven't seen Scotch mintsfor years.... and don't get me started on Fry's Chocolate sandwich bars....
