Probably because people get ripped to bits so have decided not to bother as much rolleyes You have to admit its happened a lot of late.

Well said and we totally agree with you Lil
Ditto to the above.
And I find a lot of the OP's are quickly left behind to make way for deviations of it, or in some cases totally different subjects are introduced and the comment/point/question that was orginally made/asked in the OP is long forgotten.
I opened a thread some time ago which was recently resurrected and I have re-read it all the way through this past couple of days. It would appear that most people who posted on the thread havent actually read the OP, bearing in mind the comments that followed. Very frustrating.

If there are members that regularly post (or did) then by searching them you could get a sense of who they were and what their opinions are, far more relevant than random chatting at times.

That's a good point well made and something I try to tell new members. A well crafted profile page is great, but unless you update it every day (blog style) it really doesn't give too much away about what sort of person you are. On the other hand posts in the forums are far more revealing and can help you to get to know "the person" rather than "the persona".
Awwww shit !!! Is that why nobody wants to talk to me any more ???
They`ve got to know me !! lol
 I talk to ya!
But i havent read all your prevous posts yet, when I have I might start ignoring ya too. :P....
Is this why you have stopped talking to me.... rolleyes

Unfortunately that's what happens in real-time conversations too. Subjects go off topic, someone makes an unrelated observation and the entire discussion goes off tangent etc etc.
Then in a thread you will have the people who only check the last page - possibly as they have already responded earlier on maybe? - and then they respond to the last comment, regardless of its relevancy to the original post.
I start quite a few threads - if they go off at a tangent, fine and if they get completely ignored, fine. I just see that as normal and to be expected.
Once you've posted a thread or replied to it, you just can't legislate for what is going to happen to it. Some threads run and run and spark lots of interesting/funny/informative conversation and others (many, in my case :rollsmile just die on their arses within hours.
All good - keep posting!

I think more like passing ships in the night wink
I do like a debate...It does seem that when someone starts a thread it can quite quickly disintegrate into the battle of the egos and so the original thread gets overlooked.....Maybe that's another reason why the forum is lacking in whatever it used to have....not that I know what it used to be like..... smile
