Hey all, just a quick one, been perusing the ads trying to find the right peeps for us (thats another story!)
Ive found plenty of ads saying "No winks please" or "winks will be ignored"
Does anyone here actually not mind reciving them? personally, we hate it, its just plain lazy to us!
So whats everyones thoughts? does anyone appreciatd them?

I haven't received many winks, but I have responded to all of them.
Non-subscribers cannot send you a message or communicate with you directly in any other way; their only way is to wink. You may say that they should become subscribers if they wish to be more than voyeurs, and no doubt SH would say the same, but if you appreciate the interest and want to explore it, then you need to follow up on the winks.
Doing that, and establishing a conversation, is - in my experience - fraught with difficulty unless they become subscribers. Another site that I use follows a similar system, but allows me to send reply-paid messages, so that I can communicate if I really want to.

Come on how difficult is it too put together a sentence or two just saying your member name and the fact that it would be nice to hear back.
This would give us all the imputus we need to answer. Even if its a no thankyou (insert name)thank you for your interest.
Can see the point about non-payed up members. As we only meet from chatrooms and forum then i guess it doesn't affect us.

i don't like winks i think they just lazy, if someone cant be arsed to write a bit to you they not that bothered about meeting you, but what really makes me laugh more than the normal boring winks are the people who think they making a effort by changing their winks to say exactly the same as it says on their profile 
We don't really like winks in principle, but we usually have a look at the profile... and the best meet we've ever had came from a wink.
We looked at their pics and thought, nah, too good to be true, must be a fake. Noticed that the name on the pics was not the name on the profile... thought about THAT for a bit... Waited a day or too, thought "what the heck" and wrote to them, arranged a date, they cancelled on the day of the date... (we really had doubts then)
... and then met them a few days after that and they were excellent, and we've seen them several times since. Just goes to show.

Nobody ever winks me anymore. Maybe if I'd replied to one or two, I wouldn't feel so left out.
In truth, I don't mind as, being a single bloke kinda thing, I don't get many at all and when I do I take it as a compliment. I would imagine women and couples get loads, though, and I can see why that would be very annoying.
Having said that, I'm thinking of winking everyone on this thread...

Well, I was going to say that would be devaluing the currency, but they seem to be hardly worth anything anyway.
Me, I can't afford to ignore any approach, but the only two winks I have had have been joke ones.
if,whoever is sending the wink has a full profile and some pics, we don't think they're a bad thing.
it gives you the opportunity to see if your interested before writing a lengthy p.m
its when you receive a wink and the sender has a profile like ours that they seem pointless
also they can be useful if you see a profile and want to go back to it later,if you send a wink you have that profile in your mailbox
so winks have some good points and bad points for us

We actually say on our ad that winks are ok.
As long as the person has a profile we think why not make life easier. We have had some where the profile is totally empty, but in those cases we just ignore the wink as the sender is being a bit silly.
I didn't know that the basic freebie members could wink. I think the problem there is that even if you do reply to them, the system is going to delete any contact information you give.

Mmmmmm, winking never felt so naughty!!
We ask not to have winks... we still get them and although we can cancel them we think they are useful as it says alot about how lazy they are so saves us bothering to mail them..
But just this morning a cracker came in.. :P

We don't answer winks. if the person sending cant be arsed to write something why should we be arsed to respond. winks are not very personal!
