You may have read the other day that I did have five cats until two house moves in under year and lost one cat per move leaving me with three.
Yesterday I had to get another cat, Kitty, put to sleep. I know some of you dont like cats but I like thier atitude.
Kitty was my oldest cat at 22 years and was totally oblivious to whatr was happening around her. She was definatly suffering from some for of old age demeture (spelling??) but was realy happy. Everytime you picked her up she just purred her head off.
I opened the garage the other day to see her sitting there. She tried to stand and couldnt. She had been run over. Being an old cat she never went far so must of been run over in my street, by one of the scroats that think its big and clever to race down the road.
I took her to the vet yesterday to have the RTA confirmed and be told that because of her age she would most proberbly not survive the anesthetic. I had to have her put to sleep.
She was older than my kids, its funny she was only an animal but I feel the loss very deeply.
Oh god this is a depressing thread but I feel I have to share it.
Now I only have two cats. I can see a trip to a local animal snactuary coming on.....
Even those who dont like cats do you get attached to your pets as much as I do?
so sorry dune big hugs for you
i have a cat and i treat her like my baby if ever i lost her i wouldn't know what to do
Sorry to hear that.....
Im really attatched to my cat.... as is she to me.... Prolly coz of when she was a tiny kitten, I would sit watching tv with her asleep on my chest. Now everywhere i go in the house...she follows me....Even the bathroom!!!!! She also sleeps on the end of my bed at nite and wakes me up every morning lovingly pushing her snout on my face and purring....lol
i do sympathise,
when a pet passes on, it's sometimes, if not always, like loosing a member of the family.
just remember, 22 is a very good innings for any cat, and at the end of the day, you did do the right thing.
Sorry to hear of your loss mate.
I'm a big fan of cats and have lived with at least one for most of my life.
A trip to the animal sanctuary sounds like a good plan, if we had more space I'm sure we'd have more than the one we've got at the moment.
Sorry to hear your tale of woe Dune, we dont know each other but I feel for anyone that is sad. Big hugs xx

Aww Dune sad sorry to hear you are feeling low hun kiss but you know it's not right for animals to suffer (even though I doubt that helps much)
I have 3 cats and I can't remember a time in my life when I haven't had at least one. It's hard when they have to leave us and you need a little time to grieve, but there will always be another furry lil devil needing a good home from the Rescue centre ;)
Feel better soon hun

My heart goes out to you,
its true its like losing a child, i am attached to all of my animals having recently rescued two cats that were tortured for no aparent reason only to ensure the fun of a druggie and his pals, pathetic. They were timid and lifeless at the early part of this year, now they run round as if they own the place keeping my 15stone dog in check and well under manners.
Chin up Dune, I am sure you gave her the best 22yrs she could of ever wished for.
Thinking of you Dune :therethere:
Its a horrible thing to go through, I also know from experience sad

Thanks for your understanding. I am currently working from home and I went down stairs to find that my 12 year old son had printed this out last night.....

I nearly went all tearfull again it was her last night....Thanks to you all..again
Thats too bad, sorry to hear that... I love cats, and have four tattooed on my upper arm... and have had too many pass away... (one is too many)
*When the lights right, you will swear you see her shape on the windowsill.....*
Sorry to hear about that Dune and very sad that due to some careless driving your cat was deprived of a peaceful ending sad
Big hugs hun :therethere:
We had a gorgeous cat called smudge, he was really fluffy & cuddly & must have been hit by a car. Hubby found him dead on our dining room floor . . . he was less than a year old. It was a couple of days after my dad had died & I was in Northumberland with my mum at the time. The only thing that comforted me then was that my dad loved cats & I just thought that they were together.
Your son's obviously been brought up well to have such a caring outlook.

Well that's me now blubbering away!! <fast blinks>
Dune, so sorry to hear this - 22 years, wow! That's one hell of a time together. I don't want to write loads, cos people can occasionally be a bit dismissive of losing a pet. But just to let you know I'm sorry, it is tough and I feel for you kiss
Its horrible losing pets - especially when they have been around a long time - my dog is about to go and its horrible preparing yourslef for them not being there....
...I hope after you have grieved that you feel you want to get another one.
Thank you all for your caring messages. Thats one of the reasons why I like being part of this forum
lol
Well you know how I feel about animals!
I was so sad to hear about Kitty - reminded me of losing one of my dogs last year.
It is like losing a member of the family - no other way of putting it.
That tribute by your son is wonderful!
I bet it both warmed your heart and brought back the tears!
All I can do is send a big kiss and a snuggle just to say I understand.
