Hi All,
Just a quick reminder for anyone who experiences frequent chat issues to use the debug version of chat (link under the main chat button).
This version logs a lot more information about what is going on so we can track the problem down. We make minor tweaks to the debug version each day to help cut down the disconnections and other problems, so the more of you that can use it on a regular basis helps us identify problems and apply fixes quicker.
If you find the debug version is worse for disconnections or other problems, feel free to go back to the main chat, as some of the tweaks we do make could have the possibility to make it worse for some users initially until we see the results and apply further tuning.
If you use the debug version and experience disconnection or whisper problems, please to reply to this and let us know what went wrong, and we can investigate on a case by case basis too.
Thanks,
Elliot
Hi All,
As you've probably seen now the couples chat access went live on Friday. We know this was a feature which was quite popular so we hope it's working well for those that are using it.
As I've just read in the other thread there are a few moans about it coming back as an Extras upgrade. This is due to the increased server load and bandwidth used, and associated costs involved with this - as this feature effectively doubles the camera streams a single user can watch, as well as occupying another slot in the chatroom. Because of this we feel this is a justified extras feature, and it does significantly drop the cost for couples as they no longer require two memberships.
For genuine couples whom currently hold a second premium membership please feel free to submit a support ticket, we will review on a case by case basis any possible reimbursement as this new feature now negates the need for your second account.
Thanks,
Elliot
HI All,
We've found this issue, it is a problem with the latest chat update and an older version of IE9. We're putting a fix in now, however, we do advise all users on IE9 to frequently check the Microsoft site for updates to IE9 as its still in beta, they will be releasing new versions often.
Thanks,
Elliot
Very strange, could you try clearing your browser cache / temporarily files for me and then try again.
Thanks,
Elliot
Hi,
Could you give it a go now and let me know if it works.
Thanks,
Elliot
A couple of new features have gone live today:
If you use inline whispers, each whisper now has an icon so you can easily see it in the chat.
A new whisper option to 'allow or deny' whispers. You can activate this setting in your settings panel by setting Whisper Privacy to 'Authorised'. When setting this, if a user sends you a whisper you can choose to Allow or Deny the whisper. The users you allow or deny are remembered until you close the chat.
We've fixed the slow starting time with the cameras, cameras should now start within a couple of seconds.
Hi,
No, any user can open a room.
Thanks,
Elliot
We're pleased to say the camera reliability issues have been resolved. The video service has been up and running with 100% uptime and no issues since Friday.
Hi,
Just a note to this, we're not officially supporting Opera at the moment, IE 7/8/9, Firefox, Chrome and Safari (on PC /Mac) are the officially supported browsers at this point in time.
We are aware of a few Opera issues, but at the moment there are more urgent matters to attend too, but we hope to pop back to he Opera issues at some point in the near future.
Thanks,
Elliot
Hi,
Could you try the Desktop version of the chat, and see if this still disconnects you.
Thanks,
Elliot
Internet Explorer 9 support is now added!
We know there are intermittent / reliability issues with the cams, we are hoping to have this fixed today, or at the latest tomorrow. Apologies for the issues in the meanwhile.
SpeedSwing is ready to be used, however we won't be launching it until the new chat has settled down.
Thanks.
Hi All,
There have been some reliability issues with the video server over the last few days, we're putting in a fix for this today, so hopefully the video streams will begin to settle down from this point.
Thanks,
Elliot
The desktop version has been re-enabled, some users may find the desktop version faster and more reliable, so we definitely recommend checking it out! Please don't forget when installing to choose not to install the desktop icon if you don't wish to have it, you can still launch the desktop version from the site using the button on the chatroom homepage.
The old chatroom has been moved to a single server as the usage is now minimal.
