Today the sad news that the great actress Wendy Richards has died aged 65.
I think she was the longest serving member of Eastenders, and I think most of us remember her in " are you being served ".
A sad loss and such a young age too.
If Jade Goody gets her finger out we can have a national day of mourning.
Yes Mr Powers but the actor who plays Ian Beale isn't dead so isn't worthy of the attention of our forum. Im not sure about the bloke who plays Ken Barlow.
Sometimes what you don't say does you more credit than what you do.
Quite fancied her in Are you being served. Its sad that she died of such a vile disease. RIP
And just for the record I took no offense at Bens comments. Gallows humour has always been around and always will, it helps us cope when things get grim.
awww thats a shame ..we have been watching lots of old comedies lately and she appeared in one or two..very sad
For me she will always be the face of Eastenders, more so than Dirty Den and all the other characters who are more caricatures...
Perhaps her greatest skill was portraying downtrodden normality. Sounds mad I know.
I never really watched Eastenders or Are You Being Served. There are only so many laundrettes and crap "Have you seen my Pussy" gags I can stand before I lose the will to live. But you don't work that long if you haven't got something about you.
I can't say she was my favourite actress, but I think the talent she had, she used very well.

I had a copy of that - I think it was on the old red parlaphone it would be worth a few quid nowadays.

getting back to topic....may I say Wendy Richards brought many of us many moments of great humour in "Are you being served" and entertained us with drama in Eastenders...and so will be sadly missed by many.
