New Forums - What would you like?

As part of the development of the site and continually trying to offer you what you want, we are looking to add some new forums. What we would like from you is some suggestions.
For instance I use a non-swinging site with forums such as gadgets, fun stuff, accessories, general spouting, a whinging forum, amongst many many others. A lot of them are specific to the type of site it is, and a lot of them are completely not!!
So what would you like to see? What would you make use of? This doesn't just refer to subjects used in the Cafe, but also the 'Let's Meet Up' forum, Dogging and the Chatroom forum. Is there something in there you would like to see in it's own right rather than buried amongst other posts?

Dare I suggest it, because it has been talked about often enough... a current affairs/general soapbox kinda place?
That way people can vent and rant and even debate in an adult fashion about issues/news/'hot' topics and issues.

Nobody should be mocked for their suggestions, by the way. You could be surprised and find that you're not in the minority! lol

A joke thread???
I don't post them, but i know plenty people like to post their jokes/forards/funny video clips- would save the mods some locking time each time on gets posted!?
And I do like to laugh at them sometimes!!!

The way I see it at the moment the Cafe posts tends to be split into one of three categories...
Either The Soapbox rant/current affairs type of post, where people can talk about issues of the day.
The Funny / Fun / Wordgame type of posts where people just want to have a smile or take part in a game.
And lastly the sexy / swinging type of posts which is just an excuse for Nola and DirtyGirly to talk dirty. ;-)
I'm sure there are some threads that overlap but these three broad headings would encompass most threads in the cafe.
As for Lets Meet Up, I think it is fine, however it may be an idea to have the meets sorted geographically so people can see what's happening in their local area and others.

arnt there enough forums now and not always enough new posts?
i dont want the site split up even finer, i think the cafe can host all the different types of threads that it already has, after all cafes in real life you would have various convos.
we have a sticky for those specific things, like the steam room.
dont the groups have their own specific forums?
within the lets meet up, the only thing i could imagine that would help would be to have a seperate munch/social, and then the general lets meets up bit, defo with a area being put in the title.
i dont think there are enough contributors without spreading things even thinner.

couldnt agree more , didnt think there was much wrong with the forum the way it is.. unless the aim is to include and encourage other interests aside from swinging.. not sure how that would benefit swingers ? wouldnt it just disolve the already disolved number of active swingers here... not sure that would be a good idea.
however if you want to raise revenue then why not open a seperate site for anglers...fishing heaven..for footy fans footy heaven for religious beliefs ..heaven heaven... but if you do dont link it to here please.
in edit it would just add confusion of where to post as well

I think the thing I'd do is add a current issues forum for those who like to debate newspaper articles.
Maybe do something with LMU to make it easier for people to find the events/meets nearer to them.

These are the new forum categories that will be added in the next few days. The forum will then get a makeover when the site update goes through in the next few months. At that point popular threads will also be promoted on the new home page. Once we get more people using it we an then have a survey about software and features to see if people want an upgrade etc.

I'm confused by the three I've highlighted. Soapbox suggests to me somewhere to post something you want to rant about or passionately discuss (non swinging). Steam room would seem to be for ranting/moaning/getting it off your chest and Current Affairs would seem to be the place for non swinging discussions/debates/news. Is Soapbox just an extra place to do both or is it meant to be something else?
Judging by the names, it feels like there would be quite a content overlap by having all three forums.
Maybe you could outline the purpose of each a bit Martin?

there only suggestion I would have made would be to possibly split lets meet up into two....
one for munches and socials.......... one for private meets and parties.....
but other than that... just trying to work out where to put posts at the mo.... :lol: :lol:

Of course it will.
It will also give people the chance to see what sort of forums these are, for instance, if most of the posting was done in the current affairs forum, would they be forgiven for thinking this is not a swinging forum that features current events, but a current events that features swinging?

omg i fucking hate it. i really do, its pathetic its pointless, its picky, its stupid, what the fuck was wrong with one stema room thread, now were just going to have fuck loads of rants one issue then a few comments end of thread i dont have the fucking time to trawl through so many forums,
diluted and it tastes weak.

I would......
Lump current affairs and the soapbox together as the 'debate lounge',
Put the holidays and the just for fun into the 'chill out zone' and add the playroom games from the left in there too, and add the techy section in there.
Have the introduction section as a sticky in the Cafe
Put the swinging bit back in the Cafe
and have an admin section, whereby if people need a mod or an admin or have a request/query (thats not private) they need dealing with, they can post in there....admin and mods can check on a regular basis and deal with as appropriate.
Like winey says....a good step in the right direction, just a bit too many stalks to the same plant!
JMHO....but :thumbup: from me....love the logo too.

They may not have got it spot on first time, but how about giving a bit of a chance to see how it beds in and let people have an opportunity to use each of the new forums as they are intended?
Only then will we know if we have the right mix of forums and what may need tweeking.

Absolutely Mal... just seems a bit of duplication on a couple.
I'll stick my neck out and say that I like the introduction thread - I think that's a cool idea but then it's tried and tested on other sites.
Be interesting to see how it goes. :thumbup:
