How many people like me have noticed the prolification of BIG new signatures, pics/logo's/adverts going round now confused: to advertise that "I am here" and please take notice of me in signature blocks :?:
Are they needed :?:
I am sure that with the slightest use of our grey matter we can all do it , but why :?: what does it gain ?
You get a one line post followed by a ten line signature, and if you are unlucky a screen that is a mile wide and takes most of the night to read. If you are going to use sites like "photobucket" then use then to suit SH and not you ego.
Come on people, before sex power, let us try brain power or is it in short supply :?:
""semi""rant over.

phredd ( still con not spell Fred)

As it happens, I really do agree and said as much on this thread a couple of weeks back
....and I will delete the crap in the signature, its just my take on the how interesting they are.

I agree with Fred and LOVE your signature Dave.. I think Fred articulated your thoughts very well! It's my personal opinion that the bigger the signature the bigger the ego!
I particularly HATE the flashing type signatures - they give me a headache and what they do to people with various medical conditions I hate to think about.
So.. blah blah blah?? Blah!!

I agree with you entirely Fred. Signatures with large graphics and with more than threelines are totally unnecessary IMHO ;)
Not a complaint but just a REMINDER!!!! to some people here that...
ADDis a verb that means to join or unite (one thing to another) it also describes the arithmetical process of addition!
ADis a noun (short for an advertisement)
OK? Thank you.

That'd be a type of British snake, found charging about grassland on sunny days.,.. dunno
(and AWOL, shouldn't their be a ' after Ad', to show that it's been shortened... and not the time after Jesus was pinned up? )

The snake is an adder.
After ad, there should be a full stop to show it's been abbreviated, becoming ad.
Did you mean 'shouldn't there be'?

Should there be an apostrophe after ad? No I don't think it's needed. But hey I might be wrong... is there a SH Espeling and Grandma Committee here? dunno

You started the ball rolling on this issue Awol - hope you're not complaining because someone else pointed out your mistake? lol

was there a mistake? the word ad has become a noun on its own as far as I know. So no mistake there and you can relax I'm not complaining ;) but you (and anyone else) are most welcome to correct me anytime. I like learning new things every day.

I didn't correct you. Technically I suppose there should be a . after ad. but I'm inclined to agree with you that it's become a word in its own right.
biggrin

Thank you for agreeing freckledbird. I know you didn't correct me. I was just trying to reply to postie's "correction" because I found it funny he "corrected" me and at the same time he confused his "their" and "there".... but please let's stop that or people might think that I'm applying to joing the Spelling and Grammar Committee! :D

Well I ain’t had a whine in a while so…………….
I was chatting to a lady a couple of weeks ago on msn. During our conversation she just happened to mention that her kids PS2 was broken. She was saying that it breaks at least once a year and it cost’s her £50 to get in repaired by Sony, not something she can easily afford.
My am I whining, well basically because Sony seem to be making a bloody fortune from these repairs when most of the time the units are just dusty.
It ended up that I asked her to buy some basic stuff to repair it herself (small screwdriver, can of air etc).
Well last night, she fixed it herself. It took less than ten minutes. I did talk her through it while I watched her progress on cam (which was fun).
Just a shame she didn’t get naked after the repair – maybe if I worked up to a tv?....................
Anyway – back to the gripe – I just wish that these absurd charges could be wavered somehow if the units are just dusty
End of gripe!
i want to let of steam about..........
.....the fact that i dont at this moment have anything to moan about!
ok.. i am going! lol

I WASN'T correcting anyone's spelling or grammar. ( I'm not allowed to anymore...) It was just a comment. Nothing more... and yep, I was a total numpty for putting the wrong "there" in. No offence meant Awol. I honestly thought you had to put an apostrophe in if you have shortened a word, such as 'phone. Hopefully the adder joke at the beginning shows i wasn't being serious.

I don't know if this is the same scheme they used to operate with the original Playstation, but back then they charged £30 to do a swap - you give the courier your broken playstation, they give you a refurbished one back and send the broken one to be repaired by Sony.
It's a bit steep if it is just dusty, but it's a bloody good deal if you do what a mate of mine did and accidentally pour a whole glass of red wine into it (apparently there was a loud bang and smell of burning plastic, never a good sign).

None taken Postie... as I said earlier I'm always happy to be proven wrong (or right sometimes) or made fun of, or whatever... it's all part of being alive and belonging to a very active and lively forum like this one ;)
