peaches and me were on the way back from shopping for a new bbq and sun loungers when we drove past some pikeys that have camped up on the side of the road.
now they had the usual jack russel chained up along with a pony, but there was this cockrel tethered to the grass. i think it was a cockrel as it didnt look like one actually not sure what it was but it was a bird in such a bad state. missing loads of feathers and had huge pink bold patches and looking really in a bad way.
im a total animal lover and i hate anyone mistreating animals of any kind.
now do i call the rspca to see if they will go and have a look at this bird as it really needs help.
will they actually go to look as its pikeys were dealing with.
or should i just let it go and have it on my concience and hope someone else has called them?
not swinging related i know, but its really bothering me.

Yes, definitely call the RSPCA.
What they said, at least then you can feel you done all you can otherwise you will always wonder 'what if....'
I'd agree, have to call.
 nasty buggers
We found a discarded one in our lane. Called him Claude and he lived in an unused stable for a while and gradually got better, then he lived in a chicken house by the back door. We were thinking of getting him a friend but he was notoriously bad at going to bed, and I was due out for a meeting so I left him, alas poor Claude was no more when I got home. At least he had an extra year or so being fed and cared for... we suppose it was a fox, we never found corpse or feathers though.
Well Done Rache
Id have done the same
nothing worse than people being cruel to animals.
its really bothered me that has. what goes through a pikeys mind i will never comprehend. they have the morals of a parasite they really make me sick.
i once had a jack russel and use to take her for a walk which went past a legal campsite and there was a real romany gipsy brother and sister that lived on the site and we would always bump into each other and stop to have a chat.
they were the most friendly genuine people ive met. and even they said they were so ashamed of the way pikeys behave and have brought the gypsy way of life into the gutter.
i really hope that cockrel will be ok.

As a vegetarian and sometimes animal rights activist I am 100% behind your action in notifying the RSPCA. Well done.
However, I find the use of the word "pikey" derogatory and offensive. I also dislike generalisations and stereotypy. As far as I am aware, gypsies / travellers are not included in the Race Relations Act. I could never understand why this is so.
It is one thing to condemn certain forms of behaviour and I am totally with you on the action you took regarding the maltreatment of this bird.
But it is an entirely different matter to denigrate an entire group of people because of the behaviour of some of the members of that community.
You said, and I quote,
"i fucking hate pikeys they bet on anything. "
Later you went on to say, "what goes through a pikeys mind i will never comprehend. they have the morals of a parasite they really make me sick.
If you had referred to a racial or religious minority in the way you have members of the travelling community, you would be very lucky not to find yourself prosecuted under the Race Relations Act. The more so when one considers the offensive terms you use to describe travellers.
riff raff
ive delt with gypys on many many occasion and in many different situtions. ive also had gypsys live in my street and 3 familys live in the next street to me.
no there not all bad, but the ones that take the piss are pikeys.
ive seen a good 250 totally reck a leasure complex from resturants, ten pin bolling fascilty, and cinemar. ive also seen the boss man bring them all back a month later and line them all up in front of all the business oweners and slap everyone of them around the face as an appology.
ive been stuck in a car on the A46 in a tail back five miles long while they have their pony races on the main road while they have thier horse race bets, and vannish before the police arrive.
ive bounced in a night club that they have hired so they can bare knuckle fight on the dance floor for money.
ive had a truley spiritual expirience by a gypsy. one sunday night i was bouncing with ben who had been trying for a baby for over 3 years and all had misscarried.
he and his girl had given up when one sunday night two gypsys turned up wanting a drink and were not looking for trouble so were let in.
they sat drinking minding there own business when they called us over we had a good chat and a really good laugh.
at the end of the night they were the last left in and told us to tell them to drink up if we wanted them to leave. ben said he wanted to get back to the missus so swig the drinks down. one of the gypsys then said you have been having problems with a baby son, your going to be lucky there boy gave him a wink, and drank up and left.
3 weeks later bens g/f became pregnant and they know have a bouncing boy full of beans.
so no before you start im not having a go a gypsys. im talking about pikeys and they are pikeys.

Good for you for phoning RSPCA, we had an argument with another lad at work the other day. He said he was going to Spain with his family and wanted to take his 14 year old son to see a Bullfight. He was mighty surprised when half a dozen rough old Engineers howled him down and called him all the names under the sun.
He could not see why it was wrong to kill a Bull in that way!! Hope we convinced him!!!
