First off i would like to thanks to all those who gave some advice in the chat rooms.... but dont know if we were expecting too much but after i dont know how mant ad replys, nothing..... not one reply back... not even a thanks but no thanks. Have come to the conclusion that most on here are messing about (apologies to the genuine ones out there.) so you got advice in the chatrooms about the ads... and not you come to the forum to tell us....
not all forum users use the chatroom, and the other way round, they are two distanct communities...

if you want to get the best out of the forums, we do have a mentor scheme in the top of the thread and i advise that you get one of them..... but other than that in the forums we know nothing about you, because you have said not about yourself to us.....

Well, yes......... I guess most of us are just messing about on here tonight cos everyone else is out munching and we're stuck at home!
But in actual fact, what you will find with this forum is a community. Most of the regs know each other in RL, socialise together when they can, and have a bloody good laugh when they are online. You might find a lot of the posts on here are difficult to understand cos they are conversations between friends, but that shouldn't put you off. If you take some time to get yourselves known on here you will find that people will talk to you, then you will be able to come to a Munch and meet loads of nice people . Not everyone on the forum will want to shag you of course --- some people are here for specific things, some are here just cos they like it --- but at the end of the day, you get out of it what you put in, as with any RL community of course.As Fabio correctly pointed out, the ads are different from the forum. Most of the ads are placed by people who know little or nothing about the forum. Yes, there are plenty of timewasters out there, despite our efforts to root them out
... but all of us who have ads get timewasters. I have a "wankers" folder that is filled to the brim with idiots, you just have to learn to live with that. I guess the ads are like looking for a pearl amongst a pile of shit, but sooner or later you get lucky :) The chatroom again is a community, but a different kind of community to the forum. Some people on the chatroom don't use the forum and vice versa. The chatroom format appeals to some but not others -- all about personal taste really. Again, if you stick with it, you will get known and people will end up wanting to meet you.

Having an add on for only a month isnt giving yourselves enough time. give it a bit

I think a lot of people join the site with certain expectations. Perhaps that's reasonable, perhaps not, I don't know. Anyway, once they find that those expectations are not met, it seems to me they can do one of two equally sensible things:
1. Accept that things don't always happen quickly, stick around, get to know the community and what it's about, and just enjoy it for what it is.
2. Decide that it's not what they were looking for, they're not interested in pursuing it, and move on.
Option 3 - tell everyone how disappointed they are and then leave - doesn't really make much sense to me. We know people sometimes get ignored by the people they write to - what are we gonna do, pass a law against it?
I really don't see the point of people complaining about it if they don't intend to stay. What does anyone gain out of doing that?

Fair point, I'm relatively new but decided to join in on the forums for the same reasons you did, and because this lot sounded like a right bunch of nutters, so I should fit in easily
.I've done a certain amount of ad surfing and had/have one or two interesting email conversations resulting from that, but it's definitely a case of picking out the wheat from the chaff. I've actually ended up sending more reports to mods about adverts than replies to adverts, at least so far.

This is a really valid opinion and seems to be the majority view of all but the really newbies coming to this site in a bright fluffy cloud of optimism. Not all of us go along with this for many reasons though: -
1) We find it much much harder to decline invitations to spend more intimate time with those we have come to know well through chat or other media prior to meeting.
2) Some people are looking for more speciifc things (e.g. specific types of partners, or those below certain ages). Just because you enjoy someone's sense of humour in chat or forum postings does not necessarily get you any closer to the type of person you seek.
3) Some people are just shy and don't like to "bare all" in front of a broader audience be it forum or chat, however friendly that audience may be, like dogging exposing ones most personal thoughts in public doesnt come easy to everyone.
4) The relative closeness and familiarity a number of the established members have with each other can SEEM (and I am not saying it is meant to be so) exclusionary to newbies
5) Thoses parts of SH other than the ad boards can seem to dwell on almost everything but the subject that many would expect. The forum appears to be a unique feature of SH with the ads and chat available in many other places, it is probably a good thing that the forum in particular isn't so single minded, but for a newbie this can be really offputting.
We can really understand where the OP is coming from here, having been members for only slightly longer than them. Where we disagree though is making a big song and dance about leaving something which is clearly not for them. On the other hand there is a real danger that SH could miss out on the diversity of people and thought that newbie members can bring, by making those who do not fit the existing pattern feel unwelcome (however unconsciously). Who really wants to live in an indentikit world where the only thoughts and feelings tolerated are those which reinforce existing opinions and beliefs? Cynics might say Sun and Daily Mail readers ;) Isn't it a good thing though to have diverse views and (dare I say it) debate which may even cause one or two of us to change our preconceptions?
