Do you think the café is struggling just lately I have just looked and down the bottom of the forum index page the last post was posted on Monday, before the changes of splitting the forums into Café, Current affairs and fun threads, when it was all one.
The whole of the index page coule be taken up with posts from todays posting.
Do you feel like I do that the spark and flow has been removed since the splitting?
I was thinking of not replying to this until Monday.... wink
In times past, traffic used to drop off at the end of the school holidays. I think that was due to some of the teachers around here having a litle less time on their hands but I see there's one at least who is producing a healthy stream even now - so that may be that theory out the window. :giggle:
It always goes in phases but over time we have seen more people posting and then not sticking around - I think that makes it a bit quiter.
I agree, though, with what is behind your post. Splitting the fora has not been an improvement - there are too many and I still almost exclusively log in to the Café but I just get a less diverse menu now.
.
ive noticed that too minxy, it seems there is a lot less posting, and also an exodus of familiar names too.
maybe the newbies coming in behind are just getting the feel of the place before getting their posting boots on I dont know dunno
deffo not much going on of late, and im the same as you Tune, just log onto the cafe.
Probably because people get ripped to bits so have decided not to bother as much rolleyes You have to admit its happened a lot of late.
You all want to try the Just for Fun forum. We only bite when you beg
think you may find site as a whole is a little quietier than it was......but yes forums are very quiet..think this is to do with the type of people that now join..are maybe more interested in the ads and meet up section.....and chat....forum maybe seen as a little slow and old fashioned. I'm not saying it is by way...just saying it may be the way new peoples view it.
Am I doing something wrong then as a relative newbie and spending too much time in the forum when I should be arranging meets? Knew I was doing something wrong! lol
People are more than likely just not re-newing their memberships, just for the sake of the forums when there are plenty of free ones out there!
anyone care to explain to me what difference it makes if the cafe is busy or not..?
stick some stock in the freezer till it gets busy and thaw it out.. nothing worse than a crowd all talking at once

Well, it makes a difference if there are fewer new threads going up. It's more interesting if there are new threads when you log in.
I do feel that splitting the forums - especially the "introduce yourself" forum - has been detrimental to people posting, especially new people.
In the past, when new posters introduced themselves in the main cafe, they were greeted with many replies, and presumably felt more likely to post again because of that. Now, it is more likely to be one or sometimes two kind hearted mods who reply.
Also - even as seasoned poster, I sometimes think of a subject for a thread, and then think, hang on, now is this a cafe, a current affairs, or a just for fun... and then I don't bother posting at all.
Need to clear the decxks and get rid of every post Pre now and start afresh with less forums. This would at least make new posters feel they were part of creating something new and fresh. Lets face it names that have come and are now gone (though undoubtable that there influence made SH what it is today and we owe a great debt of gratitude to such giants of the swinging scene worship) so matter little to most of those active on site nowadays.
Lets have a suitable service say a few words and bury the past biggrin
Removed it for the sake of being tidy biggrin
Him down there was right. I'd posted same thing twice redface Well you know what they say cant have enough of a good thing innocent
Or we could just all post twice eh Losty? ! :lol2:

That I think would be a great idea, we can all write the same threads again and nobody would know. lol

Too busy to notice really. biggrin

go you!!!! xx
I think this has been said before, not too long ago.
Yes it is very quite of late, and less and less posters.
There are probably many reasons from people not bothering in case they get slated, to old members not coming onto the site, to new members who probably find the forums a bit too daunting.
Adding all those things up makes the difference.
As Cherry stated, some people her included think about a new subject and do not know what section to put it in, so then do not bother to post.
The forum has too many sections now and I think that has had a detrimental effect on the forum.
No doubt it will come to life again as there have been many times when the forum has gone very quite. Lets hope it is not long lasting.
yep,
never liked the split, still dont.
i go in cafe and see things that i guess should be in current affairs, its stupid, anything that creats discussion and debate which is conversation beyond hi hi hi stuff is current affairs, so would be no need for the cafe in that case.
i will ramble and can give loads of reasons why i hate the split.

There's more than a little sense in that suggestion. I must admit to an occassional feeling of deja vu with some posts. For example:

 oooo errrr that was March 2008 I havent been here that long have I? :P
Ahhh but I never made sense back then! lol
Well this may just prove your point dunno but I didn't even know new areas had been introduced confused
Probably a habit of a lifetime but for me it's always been, log in, forums, cafe. I never read the login page because I know where I want to be, and I'm sure it's the same for the ChatRoom folk.
That said I guess I'm therefore not qualified to have an opinion on the subject until I go and check out whats on offer, watch this space. In the immortal words of the governor of California ................... I'll be back. wink
Hello!!
I've not been on for a while but I have to say that one of the things that I've always loved about this site is that there is a sense of community.
I've always felt more comfortable when there is a profile that is more than one day old and that there are threads you can look at.
If there are members that regularly post (or did) then by searching them you could get a sense of who they were and what their opinions are, far more relevant than random chatting at times.
Maybe i'm cynical or misusing the forums but I've always liked the fact that there were regular users on this forum who you could recognise, well when I say on this forum I of course mean the more vernacular 'forum'...
Hmmm smile hello x

That's a good point well made and something I try to tell new members. A well crafted profile page is great, but unless you update it every day (blog style) it really doesn't give too much away about what sort of person you are. On the other hand posts in the forums are far more revealing and can help you to get to know "the person" rather than "the persona".
for me... the split was the thing that took the steam out of the cafe...... rather than having one really busy forum, now you have 4 not so busy ones...
I wish they would put them back together... but they won't so no point in argueing about it
but it isn't the same site as the one I originally joined, where there was advanced by swingers for swingers now it the about a sex site and "the bottom line"
it doesn't have that feel for me anymore...
so I have changed my attitude accordingly... I am not here as much, it isn't the first place i now visit when i go home or get up.....
