Doesnt bother me how anyone is in chat/cam , for the most part I'll refer to them as per their login name.
Essentially if you're in chat/on cam logged in as 'Jayne HumungusClit' or 'Evelyn BigNorkers' but you're sporting a big willy wiv a full a set of balls and 'giving it some' *laughing* then I'm referring to you as Jayne or Evelyn, das all there is to it really.

What are SH doing that is 'dishonest' then? There isn't a well populated forum/website that has 100% active membership, it just doesn't happen.
SH's front page shows how many members the site has and right underneath it shows how many are online at the time, prospective members can make an informed choice as to whether they want to join and as the initial joining is free then it's bound to draw people in.

For me it is about being honest, if you advertise a number of members then I would like to think that meant active members not every member that ever joined.
Isn't it like saying there aren't a people in the world (who are alive at this point)there are actually 960 ...(a lot of whome haven't done anything for a bit)...
wink
That's an easy question to answer....never! SH is an constant evolving mass of code that without change would be utter tripe.

WHEN IS THE SITE GOING TO BE UP AND RUNNING PROPERLY BUG FREE?????
Lack of effort? I'm reasonably sure most of those connected to the site put more than enough effort into it, if you are an IT 'expert' you'd know that a website with the traffic SH seems to generate will fall over occasionally and sometimes more than just occasionally.
Your profile quotes you as a December 2011 Update as having just 'rejoined the site' and here we are just two weeks into Jan 2012 and you want your money back and you're bored with the lack of effort/rubbish excuses you're being given?
Just for the record, we're happy with our membership, we're happy at the fee charged, we're happy with what we get for our dollar....sure the site is flaky at times, sure it's not always a smooth experience in the chat room but for how much the subscription is we consider it money worth spending.
We're not part of any clique and we get an amount of stick for giving the site a thumbs up when and where we can, we get shouted down for exactly the opposite of what you appear to but we don't care, we're happy and if you're not then just move along but whatever you do quit bleating, you're making my eyes bleed.

Personally I just want my money back now I'm bored with the lack of effort and rubbish excuses you keep giving , and it doesn't like I'm the only one .. so SH can I and indeed anyone else not satisfied with the service you are providing ?
I haven't been disconnected, camera is working, no problems with whispers...Should I raise a ticket with support?
All those people experiencing problems and that posted, how many have come back and said 'hey, it's working now, thanks!'

Well if it's any consolation I was in chat yesterday evening and lost connection on a couple of occasions.....was able to reconnect easy enough, no biggie.

I realise that there are some who are seemingly being summarily dismissed from the chat-rooms by virtue of an unexplained 'kick' and others who are operating a cam having their cam session disconnected etc.... It is also noted that some cannot whisper/be whispered to
But we haven't had any real problems in chat, no disconnections from the chat-room, I have been able to view cams and people have whispered us and we have been able to respond. I get it that some may not be able to whisper us but how would i know?
So with that said.
We're using Lion as our OS
We're using BT as our service provider.
We are using Firefox Ver
We also use Safari 5.1.2
Our screen resolution is 2560 x 1440
We sometimes use an iPad 2 (earlier on today was the latest) running ver 5.0.1 (with recent update)
Jules chats for an couples of hours or so in the evening and we hop on to SH most days to have a look around the chat/read forums.
This may irk some but I've simply posted this so that those working behind the scenes (sys admin etc) can see that there is some stability and maybe cross ref against those that are having a bit of tough time staying connected to the site.
The only error I have gotten in the last couple of weeks was one being unable to reach the main site for a few mins, perhaps the server was rebooting at the very time I attempted to log on.

O J Simpson to be INNOCENT !! ( yes I know a jury found him not guilty ..but thats not what i am asking here )

I dont know enough about the case and I'd lose the will to live if I had to trawl through the hundreds of thousands of pages of documentation on the case to be able to come to an informed view but as he was found not guilty in a court of law then I must presume he's not guilty irrespective of what I might think.
You are a barrel of contradictions Dean (not said in an argumentative way) ..you would report those you think are fiddling the system but go on to say that unless you had catergoric proof then you probably wouldnt report them..and yet with all the evidence given in the OJ case and him being found not guilty you still appear to see him as guilty? You also appear to be pre-judging any possible Murdoch case with 'he's got the money to get off' which is kind of funny really given that on the one hand you would seek to have somebody brought to book but
even though you would rely on the justice system to prosecute them/bring them to book you dont appear to rely on it as Murdoch could buy his way out of it?
Either the justice system stands for something or it doesn't? but please make your mind up.
Andy
Quote by deancannock
Starlight....thanks for the link...it emphasises my point I'm trying to get across quite nicely. O J Simpson...had the right connections, a very high profile defence team, a hand picked jury, and managed to place doubt, so they found him not guilty !!

You miss several key points or rather you omit them, the 'picking of the jury' is the same for all such cases in the US, all defendants in such cases have the same ability to pick/agree on a jury, in that respect OJ Simpson was no different.
Other defendants in the US have had 'high profile' lawyers and been found not guilty, in that respect OJ Simpson was no different
managing to place doubt? of course he and his legal team did, that is the entire point of the defence, to provide beyond reasonable doubt, in that respect OJ Simpson was no different?
Quote by deancannock
However in a civil case where he was not allowed to, the jury found him guilty of unlawful killing !!

Now who is air brushing the facts? The burden of proof is much less in a US civil case, the jury was made up of people that already had good knowledge of the OJ case simply because it had been prime time tv on America for months just a few years before, hardly an unbiased approach now is it?. Civil case was simply about money, not about establishing guilt.
Quote by deancannock
So the point I am getting to...as is the same as with Mr Murdoch, you may indeed have enough connections to ensure, you are not convicted.......
However that does not mean you are innocent !!!

Murdoch has not as yet been charged with any criminal offence(s) and it would be utter folly to commen further on that score but in the UK a person found not guilty of an offence is just that not guilty and from that point on they must be presumed so. Should you mention to any person found not guilty of a crime that they are not innocent one would expect them to throw the book at you.
The innocent until proven guilty although crumbling as time goes by still for the most part stands although similar to a large amount of your comments in this thread there are always people not prepared to accept what the law says which given you've previously been down on those that may be circumventing it for gain...well, it's quite a strange angle you're coming from? On the one hand all those breaking it should be punished/brought to book but then above those that are not guilty in the eyes of the law but have money to defend themselves are not innocent? Bit of a contradiction there Dean

Paying a mate cash for a job is pretty much the same as cash in hand to a tradesman, I seriously doubt your mate will have declared your payment to HMRC and if that is the case then you are as you say fiddling the taxman.
Also, if as you state you noticed somebody earning vast amounts of money in this way (quite how you would know that is beyond me) and you thinking you would be within your rights to complain/moan or inform that authroties? but would you? Is there a cut out point where you think 'nah, not this time' or is it black and white with you and you'd reach for the freefone hotline to report the possible tax evasion?
J
Quote by deancannock
Andy/Jules....yes I have paid a mate to do an odd job for me ? I also pay my daughter to wash my car ? I would not pay a tradesman cash, as I would want a reciept incase anything was wrong !!
Now I do know where you coming from. If someone works all the time for cash, and so does not pay tax, they are indeed not just fiddling the tax man, but in fact are fiddling me and you as well !! If I did know of someone that was earning vast amounts of money in this way, or indeed someone that was claiming benifeits when not intitled, I do think I would be with-in my rights to complain, moan or inform the authorities .

Jules will be made up that we've latched on to a way forward re a meet. lol
I wonder if bets are being placed on how long the NOTW will remain in print before either it's shut down by some subsection on article 3 zillion of the Human Rights Act or with Murdoch taking the moral high ground and pulling the plug.
Quite how the paper can retain any credibility (if it's ever had any)from this point on is beyond me.

Yep, I've read the article and many others on it, my position is as previously stated.

You can keep coming up with examples which move closer and closer to line but it`ll never change the fact that deserting your children in a strange place is so far the other side of the line that there is no excuse.
Of course the person or people to blame are the ones that took the child away but they wouldn`t have been able to do that if the child hadn`t been left alone for a long period of time.

They made a fundamental error of judgment the consequences of which both they and Madaline now appear to be paying for but I don't see them as bad parents or even bad people, I see them as parents that made the wrong choice and paid little or no regard to their childrens safety which occasionally re wrong choices we all as parents make...I dont see their actions as much different to those of parents that fit their childs safety seat in their car or who leave their children to walk home alone from school or leave their children with a badysitter that might be the friend of the next door neighbour, all of which if the situation goes awry could be seen as negligent...
It is so easy to condemn but in reality to some degree or another we are perhaps all negligent (if thats the term being used) re our children, it's just that the McCann's error was perhaps the worst case scenario and they perhaps just happened to be the subject of the attention of person or persos unknown who was looking for an opportunity to abduct a child.

Max Moseley lost his appeal.
Jon Gaunt said on Sky Sunrise last week "If you want to keep it out of the papers, keep it in your trousers"
I think there is some wise wisdom in those words.

That means that everyone on this Site is fair game to have their lives plastered all over national newspapers? That can't be right can it?
Quote by GnV
Speaking of which Gaunt has his day in the High Court today, May 11th...all stemming from his original sacking in 2008 from Talksport. Gaunt purveys himself as a defender of free speech and yet when members of the public who could hold their own when confronting him on his radio show dared to put him on the spot he would summarily dismiss them from the airwaves by cutting them off.
If he wins his case today the whole world and his dog will get to hear about it but I can't see Moz Dee giving him his job back at Talksport

Ah, that explains why Michael Portillo is in the reviewer's chair today.
I've never seen Jon Gaunt in any other role but on Sky Sunrise as occasional Newspaper Reviewer so I'm unable to comment on your postulations about his capacity for good broadcasting (or otherwise).
I can't for one minute say that he is my favourite broadcaster, neither did I do so but the words I attributed to him about keeping it in your trousers if you want to keep it out of the papers does make sense. You can't condemn the man for that.
I've knew Jon Gaunt since before his days as a failed nightclub owner and bankruptee, to then little known broadcaster on local raido (BBC Radio WM) and then Talksport, (I dont follow The Sun or his witterings on Sunrise) the best way to describe him is as a 'hypocrite' He once described Shami Chakrabati (Current Director of 'Liberty") as 'the most dangerous woman in the Britain' and yet he now allows Liberty to drop anchor alongside him in his current legal battle regarding his rights as a broadcaster. Visit his website and on the top right of the page is his latest rant re the Royal Wedding, it's 2mins long and altogether laughable.
A further update to the first post:
Almost a re-run of the original post with pretty much all of what I intially mentioned being repeated this evening. I logged on about 10pm without much of a problem but then all the same as this morning is what awaited me this evening with one further issue and that was I couldn't at one point even reach the domain front page so my guess is there was a server reboot somewhere.
It's almost as if your under attack via huge amounts of packets being slammed at your ports but in any case I'll try and log Jules onto chat but if I can't then we'll log in on the morrow, no worries.

I don't agree with Jobs assessment that flash does not work well or is not stable on a tablet device but I do agree that where flash is on a tablet it can and usually does seriously diminish battery life/ performance which at ten hours of life on the ipad2 on a full charge would if flash was enabled cut it considerably to the point of 'whats the point.
I have an ipad2, I'd like flash on it & can live without it but if what is proposed in that link does become available I'd be happy to integrate with my ipad.

I didn't say I want my money back. I daid IF I had bought this product in a shop I would have taken it back and got a refund.
As for the software not being compatable and all the other blurb you have come out with. The simple facts are that the chatroom is less useable than it ever has been since broadband became popular. It doesn't matter why. SH is losing long standing members as a result. If I thought raising a support ticket would help the chatroom become more user friendly then I would have done it months ago. I'm not stupid. Nothing has changed at my end.. Same network provider and same laptop. At least 20% of the chat nowadays in the rooms are of getting booted and getting frustrated.

Might be the same network, but network providers often change/upgrade as do operating systems, browsers and programmes such as flash. Microsoft release patches almost daily, Mozilla every month or as do adobe? Our service provider is currently BT, our connection is sometimes flaky, we use a mac with Mac Office and the Mail programme Outlook found within it, it doesn't work very well with our BT mail due to smtp settings not being available like they used to and yet an earlier version of Outlook does and so it goes on.
You claim that the chatroom is less user friendly is not one we personally find has much merit. I don't like the current chat software SH uses much preferring the old system and software when there were 3 servers but in them days (pulls braces ee by gum) we did have connection problems and I should imagine it was much more problematic/high maintenance then that what is is now? But the ease of use and the slight improvement in the tools available is better.
Your reply to Cubes re the Support Ticket and you seemingly thinking it's not worth it is class, you have a problem and yet you cannot raise a support ticket to try and help the admin here try and rectify it/help you? That would be like me phoning up bt sales and ranting at them that I'm not getting the 'up to 20mb speed' they offer...they sales team can't do anything (other than laugh at me probably) but at least if I raised a support issue with them i 'might' get somewhere and a degree of help?
I can understand your frustration but can't help but think some of it is your own fault and borne out of your lack of raising a support ticket with support.
As for getting your money back if it was a shop, lol We get less than 3mb speed with our connection ..my face is permanently blue these days and BT support have visited our home, changed our connection/ been at the top of our drive hanging off a close by telegraph pole and still they haven't rectified it....but at least they tried and have tried? raise a ticket and at least give SH tech support a chance.

The mistake was to offer free membership to the original members should only have been offered for a limited period.
In my opinion the site have to stick with their original contract and we, the majority, are going to have to pay.
Beware SH there are many up and coming sites.

We've had a look at a good majority of these alleged up and coming sites and for the most part they're a pile of poo, they're either littered with spam, contain inappropriate links and often have very little to offer other than a sparse message board and restricted adverts. Nothing wrong with those sites but where SH eclipses all before it is a/ Financial investment in the site and b/ exposure for it's members to other members so to speak.
SH is primarily a business (or at least i think it is) it tends to move with the times and keeps ahead of the game by continually investing/evolving...in short sh sets the benchmark for others to follow/aspire to. (my opinion)
