Firefox is indeed wonderful - been a user for the last few versions and really hate using IE at work.
Another way to get shot of Microsoft is to try Thunderbird, Mozilla's email client - it even imports everything from Outlook including messages, folders and pop settings etc so it's up and going straight away !!

You can't beat the real thing though...
I saw Guns 'N' Roses (supported by Faster Pussycat) at Manchester Apollo in 1987 !!
God, how old am I !!!smile
Got to agree with Serendipity about Tool though...brilliant band. If you like them, you should try Porcupine Tree too...a little more 'English' but very good

Tool are a given where musical brilliance is concerned but I'm glad to see Porcupine Tree get a mention - Steve Wilson is a genius !
They're great free therapy indeed. I've done one for the last couple of weeks and they're habit forming.
It's like anything else though: you'll like 10%, hate 10% and the other 80% pass you by.
Bear in mind that if you do find a blog for somebody on here (myself and Mr Writer included) that they're public and therefore comments about this place wouldn't be the best bet in some cases.
Not that there's anything wrong with here but the outside world just isn't ready for you lot !! lol
With not reading here at work - it all goes through a proxy server and the sites visited get logged ! - I end up coming home and reading 24hours after the last time. This means a serious list every day to go through.
I must admit to cherry-picking odd ones based on their title and their original and last poster. I'm sure I must miss loads of good ones.
Like a few other honest souls on here I have to admit that if somebody can't even be bothered to punctuate or use capital letters to start a title, or if they fill a post with something requiring the Rosetta Stone to read it, I'm turned off even bothering straight away.
If you think I'm being a post-snob then it's probably because I write so therefore I guess I'm not so surprised I do that. Call it a quirk - that doesn't sound so anti-social wink
( me, vetting post titles -----> :small-print: )
Will !
I'm also a recent returnee so it's nice for me in turn to also have the chance to say welcome back to somebody else !!

Now I can see why you have the sig you have wink
There really were so many better ways to phrase my original admission, weren't there.

redface Just to avoid confusion - the picture Shireen posted did not make me think of Carpy, I just noticed him logged on.

'Rock' mode??? Is that when you have an erection then ? lol

I was so asking for that sort of reply, wasn't I
Would have been even worse if I'd said "metal" instead ! If I'd said "Gothic" would you have imagined a gargoyle !
Wow - they're saying hi before I've even come in ! We now have a psychics branch in the GFZ, do we ?
To use a term said many times amongst the people on here "I'm easing myself in gently" after being away for a while but it is nice to set foot in here again. Last time was not long after the refit and the terrible time when Fred and Sarge got locked away after the GFZ-warming party..and the sheep-barbarcue-in-a-skip incident......if you remember that far back !
I'm off to bed shortly with work in the morning but rest assured you'll be seeing me more on here again....how can anybody stay away too long
lol

I hate seeing women with beards AND tattoos!! It's one or the other........... not both!! confused :? :? :? lol

I've just come to this thread late and was so going to do the same joke. Really must pay more attention !
Now, women with tattoos.......phew.....don't get me started. Amazingly sexy and up there with piercings in my book. I'm sure those of you who've met me in my "rock" mode really won't be surprised !

Who, or what, on TV at the moment do you see and get all hot and bothered about that you know deep down you'd really rather not admit ?

Seven Of Nine.
I'm sorry, I know it's naff, but when she says "Do you wish to copulate?" my only response is "Is the Pope a catholic?" redface

By all accounts her outfit was so tight that she couldn't wear anything under it and had to be helped into it before each filming, then smoothed down all over to make it look like a second skin. She always used the same female assistant to do it as it ended up as such an initimately personal job.
There, I bet that helped with your fixation, didn't it cool

well watching Breakfast tv - think less of news and more of Kaplinski getting nailed by her dancer.
in fact, as they were at it in the dance studio, u got to give her credit for winning!!!! lol

Actually she's somebody I've only recently realised about - not in any way my normal type but there is a certain something about her. More Kaplinsky is no bad thing at all !

Has to be ALL the gorgeous girlies in Hollyoaks !!!!! pwhooooaaaarrrrrr

Ah, but these are the odd or dodgy things you'd rather not admit to - we all like the ones in Hollyoaks ! wink
It's about time I started a new thread on here, wouldn't you say. God knows, it's been far too long since I've even posted something so this has to be a good idea ! (rolleyes at self)
So, after a very surreal conversation with somebody in the pub over the weekend, here's the question:-
Who, or what, on TV at the moment do you see and get all hot and bothered about that you know deep down you'd really rather not admit ?
There, that's a juicy one, isn't it
Mine (and as I'm sharing this you can feel free to) is the bright blue cat-woman from the Thomson Local ads. redface In my defense it's a love of things Japanese "Neko" related so I have an excuse. Honest I do. No, really. wink
What about you ?
I'm late to see this thread but just wanted to drop in and wish you all well. I'm sure 90% of you don't need to lose weight but from experience I can tell you that when you do it IS rather good.
Over the last couple of months I've dropped from 16 2 down to 14 10 and still going strong.
I've not seen the list but if I could throw my well meant advice in thats working for me:-
1) find excuses to walk - even when there really is no reason. When shopping don't buy things in the right order and give yourself extra walking about to grab things - sounds daft but my wandering around town on a Saturday has probably doubled it's length.
2) If you live near enough to where you're going then walk. I've started getting off the metro I used to take to work and walking 90% of the way. I'm lucky enough to be able to do this but even a stop or two is extra. In this alone my weekday walking has gone from 10mins to about 50mins per day.
3) Don't buy crisps, choc, cakes OR booze thinking you'll keep it for rewards cos if you're like me you WILL eat it stupidly quickly. You'll save pounds as well as pounds that way too - what a bonus.
4) Get sleep. I know that'll cause some giggles on a site like this but those getting more sleep have been clinically proven to not retain weight as much. It's a throwback to stoneage man where long and frequent rest meant safety, and this in turn meant no need for the body to hoard food.
5) Depending on what your arranged dietry advice is on here this last one may or may not clash. Read the packaging and look for the "per 100g" breakdown - if it's 4g of fat or less and low sugar then you're fine with it. The body needs a little fat to work and this means food choice isn't limited.
Just trying to help !! Let me know if I'm talking out of school !!

Your Poetry thread inspired me to have a go at a bit of writing way back in the mists of SH past, so it is good to see you dropping in to see us all again.

Does time in this place move so fast ?? lol
As a quick reply I'd say that it's no different to me than maybe an introduction from somebody going the other way and joining after a long term relationship. It's simply sharing info with the crowd.
It's actually quite nice really for that person and it lets the crowd (some of which may know the person well) know why they are leaving so no offence is inferred or taken. Regardless of how "swinging" or otherwise the person has been during their stay I'd personally feel glad for them as something has happened in their life which they see as a big positive step.
The longer you spend on here the more people feel comfortable with sharing all manner of things and thats just another - in the same line as you feeling ok to ask the question and me feeling like dropping a reply.
Then again I tend to see the best in people, I like to trust in human nature and I'm a total sucker for people finding what they're looking for.
Just my view, thats all
Excuse the long post but it's too apt to resist. For those of you who've ever seen an episode of "Bottom" I'd remind you of the ultimate horror:-
Scene 5. The Gent's Toilet.
----------------------------

Eddie: The coast is clear!
Richie: Right, let's go! Oh, nadgers - what kind do you want?
Eddie: Rubber ones.
Richie: Yeah, but there's ribbed, there's ticklers and there's ultra-sensitive.
Eddie: Ripped?
Richie: Yeah.
Eddie: Who's gonna want a ripped condom?
Richie: Ah, it must be for people who want to get pregnant. Well, I don't think ultra-sensitive's our style, do you?
Eddie: Nahhh.
Richie: Right then, tickler it is! Oh, nadgers - what colour?
Eddie: What have they got?
Richie: There's black, there's gold, there's Union Jack or there's leopard-skin.
Eddie: Which d'you think is the most romantic?
Richie: Well, Union Jack, of course.
Eddie: Well, Union Jack tickler then.
Richie: Okey-dokey. Oh, nadgers - what flavour?
Eddie: Flavour?
Richie: Yeah, there's banana, strawberry, peanut butter, Marmite or cheese and onion.
Eddie: Well, everyone likes cheese and onion don't they?
Richie: Of course they do. Okey-dokey then. Cheese and onion flavour Union Jack tickler it is. Bagsy me first go with it.
Eddie: No, no, no. Get two.
Richie: Get two?
Eddie: Yeah.
Richie: Wild man!

Suddenly whats really out there doesn't seem quite so bad...... lol
Dear god - I can't believe the number of posts !!
(Ok, thats not strictly true - I've read them and they're there so of course I can believe them !)
Strange how many of you mentioned the duck too - I remind you all that it's you're own fault when you voted him in as my avatar ages ago !!
It's going to take me a while to read threads, catch up with the who's who at the moment and to think of something to grace the poetry thread in particular. Give me a few days of sporadic visits and then I can start to get back into the "swing" of it all !!
{stop groaning at the back - the pun wasn't that bad !!)
You know something ? I've not been away for that long I guess but it feels like ages - thats a big compliment for how this place gets to you.
More later - I'm off to do some sadly domestic things while I have some effort left to do it !!

In fact whenever I hear the track "The closest thing to crazy" It reminds me of a very special time of acceptance by people like you and many others when I first started to venture "out" from the sanctuary of the trans community

Spooky - it was hearing that track on the ITV "Record of the Year" thing last weekend that reminded me about this place and set the ball rolling for my return ! I can remember your grin when you told me of the CD being auctioned - I was really chuffed at that.
Great to see things are still on the up and up for you Judy !
DaveJ - thanks for sharing that - thats just mental !! Duckpathian is running around the floor here quacking that he knew he'd be properly famous one day - what have you started !!
As for you, TuneEssence, I'll be writing again soon so watch this space for poems and more !!
It's so good to see the response - after being away from here I wondered what it would be like coming back. I needn't have worried !!
People are still asking about the SH clock, threads still meander around like crazy, people on here are as lovely / mad as ever.
Amazingly, to my delight, my poetry thread is STILL bringing in responses - to think I even asked Mark about adding it at the time !!
What the heck - I'm going to allow myself another couple of biggrin :D
Actually thats a good point !
The bug is gone / cured / fixed / finished / over / removed / left / etc / etc...... wink
It's also really rather touching that some of you folks remember me !! I bet it's the duck you remembered really !! He's so missed his "soft pink nests"
Thanks folks - I realise there was maybe too much detail in that post but it saves people asking me where I've been !! wink
So, based on how bloomin long I've been away, I guess that rampant pizza from the GFZ is onto it's third generation of kids by now ?? lol
Many of you out there won't have a clue who I am but for those that remember me......helllooooooo again !!
I guess your first question is to wonder where I've been - it's been a while indeed !
Going back a few months some of you heard during chats, emails or munches that I'd been getting some rather nasty stomach pains. Mischief, Will & Sappho were great aides at that time and things started to calm off on their own. So, like a muppet, I did nothing about it.
{can you guess whats coming next  )
It then came back with a vengence to the extent that even sitting at my desk at work I'd suddenly be in tears (not something I do lightly !) and only just be able to make it home to lie down for a while until it calmed down. Imagine feeling like you're being knifed at random moments for anything from 1min to 3hrs and you get the idea ! evil
Various visits to the docs and odd tablets later and it was no better so I went into hospital for some tests. Hey presto, the cause was found !!
If you're eating you may wish to check back later but I'd basically got a little bug in my stomach munching on my stomach llining and stopping it from absorbing food properly before it hit the actual stomach walls. Hence food would touch where it shouldn't and pain kicks off.
Turns out 50% of people have this bug but only about 1% of those react to it in any way. Lucky me - I never win on lotteries but I get that ! lol
A course of 56 tablets in 6 days left me sick from the side effects but now, a couple of weeks later I'm back in health and ready to get back to where I was all that time ago !!!
One upside is losing a stone and a half over just five weeks, though I'm sure there's better ways of burning calories !! wink
So.....what have I missed !!??

Just to confuse things even more, most porn discs are region 0, also known as region-free and will play anywhere in the world.

Which as ever goes to show how the porn industry is leading the way in terms of common sense !! wink

Sneaks a snog with Carpy kiss

Ooooooh, you must have guessed I'd see a techie message and drop a reply in - I can't help myself! biggrin
Just to add a further piece of help (or confusion) to this theres always the Australian market to buy from too !
Although marked as Region 4 when it comes to DVD's, they share our higher quality PAL picture as opposed to America's NTSC. The Aussie dollar seems to be up and down like an uppy-downy thing so can work out quite cheap if bought at the right time, with the bonus of that ideal picture. type.
The land down under also has an odd release schedule compared with us - sometime discs are up to 6 months later getting there but sometimes they are that much ahead of us too !! For example I bought the new DVD release of Pink Floyds "Live at Pompei" some 4 months before the UK release AND at two thirds the cost - delivery, amazingly, took just six days from order to arrival !!
I'd try - I've used them quite a few times and they have good solid delivery to the UK and lots of offers and sales running most of the time.
Has that helped ? wink
