I find and it is purely personal that clubs are by far the best way to come in contact with other couples for the following reasons
you preserve your anonymity because you can interact within the club and nobody knows where you live or any of your details and remember most couples are more concerned about meeting a couple then the real problem of getting rid of one you don't like..!!!
another good reason for clubs is you are coming in contact with a large number of people to select from without feeling obliged to any of them there for you are less likely to make a false decision about who to swing with.
and if you're looking for single men you will encounter less problems with stalkers and other idiots because they will be scrutinised by other club members and will soon get bad for misbehaviour.... :P

yes here's a few bits of advice
research the club first and make sure it caters for your needs
if they ask for large quantities of money for membership then lookout because they're not likely to be there next week
do not think high membership fees mean good clubs ''they'd just mean high fees''
any well-established club will allow you to look round first
if you are trying to assess the club always stay to the end of the evening lot of clubs don't get going to the end
and if you go on a quiet night ''try again'' because it's difficult to get a true valuation in one visit
and last but not least try not to have any preset ideas about what going to happen take it as it comes..... no joke intended..
