I'm a bit of a pain in the arse when it comes to warning people about my body.
I think it's wrong to do it but I just have to! I don't want people to see me with no clothes on and either run away or be too embarassed to say anything, then run away! lol
In a way it kind of makes it worse as when you've pointed something out, the person actually looks for it whereas if you didn't say anything in the first place it wouldn't be concentrated on!
I guess it's also a bit of scaredness too...if they see my body they'll not want to see me again.
I have a little battle in my head whereby I tell myself not to be so stupid and not to say anything then the other voice tells me I should tell the person about the fat, stretchmarks, wobbly bits etc etc cos then they won't get a shock. It's a constant bloody battle!
I'm going to shut up now

I love receiving a massage. I will only receive from someone I know well and trust though. It's a sensual and very personal thing, especially full body ;)

I wonder whether that's why its not generally thought of as part of foreplay or 'swinging' as such... because it is very personal dunno
If its a really good strong massage, I can be so deeply relaxed its almost a catatonic state, full on 'gone', eyes glazed, ragdoll-like lol Unless its with someone you know well or are 100% comfortable, maybe the deep relaxation is not such a good idea? :dunno:
For me, I don't "do" massage as part of foreplay or during swinging. I prefer to do that with someone I'm close to. But we're all different and whatever I might like or not, someone else will have a different take on things. I just prefer that kind of personal intimacy with someone I know well and trust because it does make me so relaxed. If I was with someone I didn't know too well I don't think I'd like to be in that position.
If I didn't know the person well, I wouldn't feel comfortable anyway and it'd kind of defeat the object smile

I like the relaxation, the feeling that all the aches and pains are going away.
I'm looking at doing some holistic therapies courses once I'm sorted financially as I've always wanted to go into that field.
All this talk of massage has made my back ache! lol
I used to wear make-up everyday, all day.
It was a protection thing I think. I wanted to feel good about myself and the make-up made me feel accepted and was a kind of mask.
These days I can go days, even weeks without wearing any make-up. I don't "need" it like I used to.
I do make an effort if I'm going out for a day or evening or I'm seeing friends but it's not a vanity thing, just showing them that I have made an effort.
I've never been one for full-on makeup anyway. No lippy, foundation or anything. It's just my eyes that I do: eyeshadow, eye liner and clear mascara.

I'm classed as disabled but it's not visible a lot of the time, when it is I'm either not fit to move or I do my best to manage what I can.
I have some very sympathetic friends on here who are aware and are happy to be social with me when that's all I can manage, and play with me when I'm fit, if that makes up a part of our relationship with them.
They also understand if I pull out meets and events at the last minute because of it.
I rarely broadcast it (until now lol )and indeed a lot of people who don't see me often were unaware of how bad it is on occassion. I still have received support from them and some lovely messages when I'm well and they've seen me having fun and pratting about at socials.
I don't mind people asking me questions but I get very self conscious if it's the only topic of conversation, as frankly it just gets boring. I know another member who feels that way as well. Anything longer than 1/4 hour on the subject sends me to sleep. biggrin

Jas, I agree completely with what you've said and know where you're coming from.
My "disability" is in no way as bad as others but nonetheless it is a disability, it restricts my life.
Recently I have been struggling to come to terms with it in my own mind and a big part of that is embarassment.
I'm embarassed when I get "ill" in front of people, even my friends. I want to explain things to them but obviously can't at the time. It is natural for people to look and talk and wonder what's going on but I would much rather someone just came out and asked the questions.
I understand the difficulty that may cause but if you are genuinely interested then just ask....most people I know with a disability have no problem with "un-PC" questions.
I won't let it run my life but I do have to be careful and I do have to explain to people before meeting them in case I get ill. I only do this when I know them well enough.
I don't think I have any particular dislike of any disability. If I like the person and we click, so be it!
Hmm, I'm a deluded freak but I'm not vanilla!
Don't tar everyone with the same brush!
lol

Creative eh! just my thing biggrin (if i'm not, thats my company screwed then)
i had a play round with the 3 quotes but the thing that struck me most was the relevence of them all to stages of the NHS (more as paragraph headers)
i had a dream- the aims and ideas behind the instigation of the organisation
to be or not to be- the current crisis threatening the future of the service
blood, sweat and tears- the solutions to set it back on track.
not sure what area of the medical profession it's aimed at but the NHS should blanket most of them
i realise there's a lot of stuff to get into 10 minutes but with 3 minutes on each and a quick intro and summary you should be able to pack in a lot of research.
not sure how rigid it is that they're used for the actual title, but i've always liked the quote on spike milligans headstone 'see, i told you i was i'll'
other subjects i thought of were
i have a dream- short study on narcolepsy, coma or insomnia
to be or not to be- fetility treatment or cloning
blood, sweat & tears- midwifery
like i said, bit tricky to detail too much without more info.
i think i've still got some great stills from a medical video i produced a while back, PM me if you need em & good luck

Well fluck me! Meaty has yet again proved that he isn't just a one trick pony! :giggle:
Some good stuff there too!
Sorry meaty.... couldn't resist!
That's perfectly fine gentleman.
Some others won't be here til later smile

Every now and again people come into our lives and their words and/or actions make a huge difference in life .... random acts of kindness meaning so little but meaning so much.
At the weekend Morbius and I were treated by a member of the swinging community to something we'd previously expressed an interest in but the cost prohibited us. This person after finding they couldn't go gave us tickets to see Bon Jovi at Milton Keynes. We had a wonderful day which was helped by fabulous weather.
Then secondly, this morning just as I was setting off to my new job the postman delivered a beautiful bouquet of flowers and chocolates. They are a thank you for some kindness we showed someone else recently. (And they weren't necessary, thanks had already been accepted but thank you).
Then through the day I've had a couple of texts off people wishing me good luck for the job.
These things made me realise just how much this community looks out for it's own, how much the people here mean to me (and us) and so I want to say a public thanks to them, although i'm not going to name them because they may not wish to be named.
Random acts of kindness ......... so simple but so meaningful
Calista xx

Glad you liked the flowers! lol
I know they weren't necessary but you and Morbius really have helped me out - not so long ago and a little while ago - In fact, since I've known you both!
I like making people feel happy with random acts of kindness. It makes me feel good to know that I've helped someone or put a smile on their face. I quite often send cards and gifts to those I value and love. Some see it as a waste of money or time or whatever but it's not a waste if it puts a smile on someone's face smile
Nice thread Calista..... making me think about those random acts of kindness others have shown to me biggrin

I am from North London, so let me know where to go as it is not too far from me anyway I suppose, should I be lucky enough to be able to come.

have a good day dear? :giggle:

God I'm slow.... 7 pages later.... lol
Had an excellent day, thank you darling :giggle:
Reading HLB's thread about pregnancy has triggered off a memory of a conversation a few friends in the swinging scene had the other day.
It seems when it comes to protection, people saythat they use it and wouldn't do anything without it but actually when it comes to the crunch, it isn't used as much as it's said it is.
I've been in situations where it isn't even thought about by the male. I've been told of situations where it wasn't even thought about by the female, yet in both situations the other person had claimed "I always use protection".
It does seem that a lot of people in the scene don't actually use protection. I'm not talking about long term partners or married couples, I'm talking about when swinging with others.
Countless excuses are used: I was too drunk, I've had the snip, they cost too much, it's not as good with a condom on etc etc
To me, those excuses are just not on. Or any other excuse for that matter.
I don't fancy putting myself at risk just for a bit of a fumble with someone. I have more respect for myself than that. Hence why condom's are a must when swinging. I openly admit, I don't use them when I have a long term partner (swinging or otherwise), never have done but I do ensure I get myself tested and we have an agreement and trust in place to make sure that agreement is stuck to. i.e when swinging with someone else, condoms are used.
I can't remember the point of this thread now.... It's gone out of my head! lol
Er, I think it was just a warning that what someone says and what they do can sometimes be something entirely different. Respect for yourself and the others in this scene is important, as without it we all have the potential to be diseased! (Sorry, not funny eh?!)
biggrin

how about fresh in the shower wink saves water too :rascal:

Oh that'd be good...
If only I didn't have a "shower is my space" rule lol
I don't "do" showers with anyone else.... though sometimes I think I should change that!
That natural scent..... no aftershave, deoderant etc etc - just natural scent.
That turns me on every time!
Or fresh from the shower, that's good too smile
Just a quick update!
Thanks Alleyson.
Thanks to those who PM'd me to provide me with information - it was very helpful.
I've been to the doctors today. I'm not going into details but it will be sorted soon enough. I have to have a few tests to confirm the diagnosis but once that's done it'll be manageable.
Thanks again folks.
kiss
Thank you so much Dammie and HLB - it was a fantastic night. You did so well to organise it all.
I'm not going to do the naming thing as I'm going to bed in a bit.
Thanks to everyone I spoke to, danced with and drank with!
kiss
I thought I'd start a different thread for this subject as I don't want to detract from the well derserved thanks for Dammie and HLB.
As some of you know, I was taken ill last night at the "non munch"
I just wanted to say thank you to:
Morbius, Calista, Feklar, Celestria, tatty and Vicky_uk - You all helped me more than you can imagine.
Marmalaid - Thank you for being there, taking the abuse (lol) and coming back to see me. It means a lot. kiss
 to everyone else who helped, I'm not missing you out on purpose, I can't remember the details of what happened or who was there when it happened (apart from the people mentioned above), so please, if anyone knows, could you PM me?
I'll be going to the doctors tomorrow and need as much information as I can get so I can sort this out.
Oh and it wasn't because I was drunk - as I heard one really helpful person say rolleyes
What happened last night really hit home to me the amount of friends I have and the support and help offered. I'm sorry if anyone's night was ruined.
I'm feeling much better today, going to go to sleep in a bit as I'm bloody knackered!
Thanks again

If it's love you're looking for.... you probably won't find it here!
There are decent swinging single males..... lots in fact, but equally there are some who are not so great!
Most singles are here to be single.... not to be in a relationship, in my experience anyway.
