OK, if we're getting all intellectual here, maybe we should distinguish between morals and rules.
Morals are things like "An' it harm none, Do what ye will"
and Rules are things like "Don't eat fish on a friday".
I think organised religions often impose rules on us by trying to pretend they are actually morals.
Always found the Smash Aliens irritating rather than funny...
My favourite was the Carling Dambusters advert - maybe because I first saw it in a packed cinema and several bits brought the house down.
Or maybe it's a childhood full of making goggles with my hands and humming "Da, da da..." as we ran aroudn the playground...
I've posted elsewhere saying how much I appreciate the effort Mark put into this site.
Personally I have my doubts that the new owners will manage to keep the spirit unchanged in the long run - part of what made this site so attractive was that it was "for swingers, and by swingers" and I fear that however hard they try, at some point things will begin to go wrong. Not by design, but by accident.
But I don't know that for sure, and I feel we have to at least give the new owners a chance. Nothing's going to change overnight, so let's give them the benefit of the doubt.
But equally we have to accept that some people are in shock and grief at the moment, at what they see as a threat to something that's a huge part of their life. I don't think we should judge anyone who gets upset at this stage - give them some time to get over it.
M.
I first joined this site a couple of years ago, and while I hardly contributed to the forums, I did meet someone very special in my life here, so I guess I have as much to thank Mark for as anyone else.
Coming back here a month ago, I was amazed to find that the site was still free. I know from personal experience that even running the smallest web site can become a huge time consumer. If Mark has found a way that he can be paid back for all the hard work he put in, well I guess we still owe him far more than he received.
It's better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all...
So I'd just like to join all the others and say:
"Thank's Mark!"
One thing I've never understood about the class system is that all that seems to matter to most people is where you were born.
Like, if you were female and born on a council estate, that makes you a "good working class girl" even if you're a higly paid barister, spend your holidays in Tuscany, fork out for private tuition for your kids, and are married to the Prime Minister.
Surely it should be who you are, not who your parents were that matters?
And don't get me started about people with two Jaguars...
Princess,
Totally agree that you should do what's right for you, just as long as you're careful.
But I'd hate all women to start having boob jobs - some of us guys actually prefer small boobs...
Mark.
P.S. There's an article about Tunisia at
P.P.S. What does an "uplift" actually involve?
I wonder how many people do it more than once? I can sort of understand someone getting all worked up about the fantasy, but when it came down to it deciding it wasn't for them. But it sounds like some people do it time after time.
I guess it's like the people who send out a picture of someone else...
