everyone seems to have retired, moved to a certain other site, just use facebook or have disappeared into the ether.

Hi all, this has to be my first post to the forum in about a year and the reason being this site is not the attraction it once was.

If we search for someone we'd like to meet within 50 miles of our home then we can find no one active within 30 days, one person active within 60 and another one active within 90!

It's a shame as we liked this site and had some great times here, in the chatrooms and forums as well as the bedroom, but we have moved elsewhere.

Wives are for fun, not just for Christmas ;) All hail Trevaunance, Destroyer of forums. Declared extinct 1st Sep 2013 - 3:48pm
Well the good news is Meeko, you are not alone. I think that barmaids are great too.
As for your memory, well I was going to tell you a story about my past but by the time i clecked 'reply' I'd forgotten it.
So let's get back to talking about barmaids.....
Visually superior to other sites, so that's a good thing.
But the number of active people in the west country on this site is vastly inferior to elsewhere on the web, so we will wait to see what happens.
We are still unhapppy that a block doesn't yet mean a compete and total block.
The changes are welcome. Although, we really do feel it's been too litle too late and that will be followed by too much too soon.
Never happy eh!
Countless hours of y life have been lost to his hilarious books. Sadly there won't be anymore which is a loss for this world and the disc world.
Over the years I have mellowed on this subject.
The death penalty doesn't work as a deterrent and to be honest it appears to be more costly than whole life sentences.
Look at some of these cases in America where people can live on 'death row' for 20 years or more, fighting appeal after appeal and running up the states bill time and time again.
The Human Rights Act precludes us from using the death penalty anyway, and no political party will bring the subject up. So things will remain the same for many years to come.
We've been here for over ten years and like the rest of the replies above we have noticed a massive change in the way the site is today.
Our first impression of the site was that it was a scam, and that surely people didn't just shag other people they had only met online, did they? Well apparently it wasn't a scam and people did get together for NSA sex smile We never thought anyne would be interested in meeting with us, so it was a while before we put any pics up, but once we did things cganged dramatically.
The chatroom was a whole new experience and we sat in the corner watching what was going on and seldom chirping up. However the south east room was always lively and we soon became regulars.
The forums, well they were so lively that it was hard to keep up! Great days.
We don't get the same experience these days, and rarely bother going on cam. It's a shame that whispers are so prevalent and that few people use the open room to chat. It's put us off a lot. Oh how we wish we could return to the old days.
Welcome to the forumssmile
You've been members of this site for ten years and presumably you've had a meet or two in that time. There is no right or wrong answer when it comes to your feelings, as none of us can know what is going on inside you.
Therefore I think you should be directing your concerns to your wife about this proposed meet.
Hi, and welcome to SH.
The time of day will influence the chatrooms significantly, with evenings, particularly at weekends being the most popular time.
That said however the trouble that you are facing is the common problem that most of us face. Not everyone in the room is actively chatting, many are usually afk (away from keyboard). Others will only talk to people that they themselves are intereted in. But by far the reason why the chatrooms appear so quiet is that many people will only communicate via the whisper facility. This means that no one else see's the chat and the room appears empty/afk/inactive/boring.
At the time of writing my neighbour still has external Christmas lights on his house sad

I wonder how many of the people who bought the magazine this week did so in the hope of selling it for profit one day?
Sorry GnV, maybe I didn't make myself clear.
The Telegraph story is not actually news. The proposal to reverse the hunting ban was part of the Tory manifesto in 2005 and 2010 and therefore it is not a change of direction for the party, or a sensationalist as the headline appears it to be.
To be fair it doesn't seem to me that the Tories are doing anything different to wht they have done before. It certainly isn't some sort of clandestine manifesto promise that no one suspected.
Let's also remember that they didn't want the hunting ban in the first place.
It's the same commitement as they made in their manifesto for the GE of 2005 and 2010. And despite winning in 2010 they haven't done a days work towards repealing the Act, so I'm afraid sensationalist headlines do not change my opinion that this Act will remain as statute.
Farage was on TV last night being interviewed/getting pissed with Steph and Dom Parker (from Gogglebox). I've got to admit that I'm not full of praise for Farage, but it was entertaining TV and I thought he was very relaxed and open. I wouldn't imagine that DC or Silliband would have came across as well as he did.
Nah! It's a load of nonsense. If I want to make a change to my life in August I make it in August, not 4 months later.
I'm not a rugby fan, but I do like a good day out. Fortunately I have a friend working for sky sports who got me tickets for Tonga v Namibia, Namibia v Georgia & Italy V Romania. Well I figured a football world cup match would never be held 2 miles from my house, so I'd settle for rugby instead ;)
Personally I think its way over the top. I wouldn't want to have to have my house lit up by the overpowering lightshow of a neighbour. I wouldn't want to look out my window and see people gawking or worse, have to keep walking past them to get the shopping in etc.
However, each to their own. If just one unhappy child is cheered up then I guess it's worth it somehow.
Well less than 24 hours to go before I can admit it's December, and the dreaded Cristmas feelingis coming over me. FFS someone rescue me!

Max, the way I see it is that the SNP are/will wipe the floor with Labour up there. Which means that the electorate don't agree with Labour atm. So why would the SNP then allign themselves with Labour?
If I helped to vote out Labour and then ended up in a coalition with them I think it would get right up my sporan!
Yes I know the Lib Dems have done it, and we have all seen the backlash. Surely the SNP would be fully aware of that too?
My gut feeling over next years election is:
Consrvatives: They won't have an overall majority. They will lose some seats to UKIP and this will be branded all across our media, but they will still be the largest party in Parliament.
Lib Dem's won't feature at all. They will be decimated as a party because the general public feels that they haven't delivered on promises and have been seen as the tories toadies in the coalition. They currently have around 50 - 60 MP's and I think they will end up with about a third of this.
Labour: They will stick with the boy miliiband, but dump him next year when they fail to get a majority. They will lose seats in Scotland to SNP predominantly but will still be the second biggest party.
UKIP: Will probably do very well for themselves. Two months ago they didnt have a single MP, they now have 2. In 6 months time I think they will have around 20 - 30. They could very easily emerge as the third party in UK politics, pushing the Lib Dems into 4th place, perhaps even 5th behind the SNP.
Others (Inc SNP): There will probably be around 50 others, around 20 more than there are curently mainly due to the SNP wiping the floor with Labour north of the border.
This will leave us looking for another coalition. Which will be very hard to form for anyone. There is no chance of a Lab-Con coalition, and Lib-Lab on Con- Lib is highly unlikely. The SNP & UKIP will probably hold the balance of power and therein lies a bigger issue. SNP will not allign with Labour as following beating them in the North, I just can't see it; and Nigel Farage said this week that he will not form a coalition unless there is a referendum on Europe next year before the summer recess. That's within 3 months of the election!
So all in all I think we are heading towards either a conglomeration of parties mixed in with the big two or most likely a hung parliament and another election by 2017.
My experience of zero hour contracts is quite dated. In my late teens I worked for a leading clothing retailer on a zero hours contract. At that time of my life it realy worked for me. I worked as many hours as the full timers most weeks, and was able to pick and choose days when I wouldn't be available to work (Usually those days followed a cracking night out).
When I was in my last month with them I was offered a full time position. But ironically I worked out that I had averaged more income on a zero hours contract than I would have earnt if I had been on the full time contract!
The thing is, though I wouldn't want a zero hour contract these days, there was a time in my life when it suited me and I was happy with the arrangement. There are two sides to every story.
It's that time of year again to reflect on the past.
It has been 100 years since the start of the Great War and the repurcussions of that time are still gently rippling even though the War itself is on the very fringe of living human memory.
We can not forget that it's the seventieth aniversary of Operation NEPTUNE and Operation OVERLORD, more commonly known as the invasion of Normandy. I myself will be leading three more tours to the region next year and am constantly amazed and awed by the stories that come to life in the region.
Since the end of WW2 british troops have fought and died throughout the world, indeed they have done so on six of the seven continents.
I'll be stood with my children and my great Aunt at the local cenotaph tomorrow. It's a time to put politics aside and Remember.
