To be honest I'm kinda boycotting the iPhone as I feel my iPod would then be redundant, and that would gall slightly.

no... think of it as an "all in one" package.... and that way you can keep ya ipod as a back up... thats the rationle going on in my head.....
I have been trying to talk myself out of getting on as my xmas present to myself.. it was either that of a Wii...
but the lure of the Iphone is strong....
lol
To be fair, I'm not a lover of touch screens - I'm a texter/typer and the touch screen thing just doesn't do it for me.
Am leaning towards the Blackberry I reckon. Proper keyboard!
I've got a very basic Nokia at the moment, but today ordered my christmas present, a blackberry curve. I also have an ipod and would feel daft getting an iphone, as i'm on a pc and not Mac, and would take an age to transfer everything. I was captured by the proper querty keyboard too!!

Thank you all for your comments so far! We have watched all the programmes this week, and the one discussing IQ was particularly interesting. We were discussing this in length, and we came to the conclusion that IQ is also a contentious subject when it comes to racism. We feel that we have intelligence in different forms, that is not really relevent to the tests that Mensa for instance, set down to get your IQ score.
I have qualities which my other half doesn't have, and visa versa. It doesn't matter that he's black and I'm white, as long as you can get on and work/live together happily it shouldn't matter. But it does to some.
Going back to anais's comment about being harder to do the workshop in this programme, the brown eyed woman did ruin part of it. But the comment that offended my other half and I, was when the teacher said, "there was a mixed race child who fell over and scraped her face, and I was suprised to see she had pink skin underneath" We were both flabbergasted when we heard that....
If I can find it, there is a little ditty about colour from a black persons point of view which goes along the lines of, "when I wake up, i'm black. When I'm asleep I'm black. when you (white person) are sick you are green, when you're cold you're blue... and you call me coloured???"
There's more to it, but that is all I can remember right now. Maybe someone out there will know more. But what do you think??
*kitty*

I missed the intelligence one - wanted to watch that.
I was going to mention the bit about the teacher saying about the child that fell over... It didn't really surprise me. I remember in a race workshop I was in - one of the white older participants asked a black guy if the palm of his hands were black as well confused :? :?
You may be able to watch it on Four on Demand... its a bit like BBC iPlayer.. will see if I can find out more. It really was worth watching!

My other half and I watched this documentary on Channel 4 on Thursday. The write up in Total TV Guide says "Former teacher Jane Elliot uses an exercise she employed 40 years ago in Ohio, using British adults from various backgrounds to show how susceptible people can be to bigotry. The volunteers experience inequality based on eye colour to show how easy we can become victims of discrimination"
We are in a mixed race relationship, and come across various forms of discrimination when we're together. I am also disabled and also get discriminated due to my disability.
The programme was interesting, as a number of the people who took part in the exercise reacted as though it were real life, and not an experiment. All the blue eyed people in the group were "collared" and segregated, and the brown eyed were given comfortable chairs, and fed better in the meal break. The results were astounding. It made a few of the group realise that they were treating people different, and unconciously as it was something they had always done. It was "ingrained" into them.
I was once asked, "are you with your other half because he is black?" my reply, "no, I am with him because he is him... normal, natural and treats me well." I don't see skin colour, I see the person. We are all the same underneath.
I'm interested in what other people think about the programme? it really was an eye opener, and very thought provoking.
Please note, that this thread is meant for debate, not personal attacks. Thank you!!!

another one of my gripes about the swinging scene is the political correctness of accepting people how they are.
im not suggesting everyone should be hollywood beautiful. but i do think that the really ugly ones should be more discreet.
i can think of a couple of clubs i go to where certain regulars seem to wear their physical defects as a badge of honour. one chap with a massive bollock hernia who refuses to cover up. some very obese people who seem to be "happy in their skin". and all sortd of other aesthetically displeasing types.
sex isnt only for greek gods and godesses, but just as i wouldnt go to a club with grit under my nails or so much pubic hair that you cant see my todger, i expect others to make an effort to be pleasing on my eye.
and i dont accept the different strokes for different folks garbage. given the choice between a fittie and bbw every bloke will go for the hottie.
discuss.

If you're such an irresistible hunk of manhood, why is it you're too scared to show us how drop dead gorgeous you are on your profile? Since your personality leaves a lot to be desired it seems to me you're running out of option mister.
Perhaps it is you who should be more discreet?

When is a SOCIAL classed as a swingers party??
Is it possible for a social to also have areas where guests can play if they want to take things further??
I think so
As far as i'm concerned, socials is where the emphasis is put on getting the atmosphere right ...
Decent music, good lighting (not too dark), plenty of seating, a large supply of non alcoholic drinks and a smidging of alcohol, a dance-floor and a well managed guest list with a good ratio of fems : men (no1 wants a cattle market scenario) ...
What else do other members think makes a good social? ...
And what changes a social into a swingers party?? ...

People swinging.
Once people start doing anything sexual, it's no longer just a social. In my opinion.
Agreed.

A small, independant 'adult' shop was forced to close in my town recently because children going to church (all six of them) had the trauma of walking past it. God forbid that they should witness the horror of red frilly knickers in a shop window (about the raciest item on show)! Makes me wonder why M&S isn't also closed down for displaying such horrific items in full view of the public! Whatever next? With cucumbers on show in supermarkets where children can see them, baby oil in clear containers and squirty cream available to anyone tall enough to reach it on the shelf, society is going to hell in a handbasket I tell you!

Mmmmm? And I bet those same kids' parents don't have any problems letting them watch death and destruction … on the TV news everyday.

A well deserved win for Ruebens, he's been the 'nearly' man for too long under MS and recently JB.
Good luck to them both for the rest of the season.

Totally agree with you there. Rubens has had many potential wins "taken away" from him. This time there was no excuse and he could just drive to a well deserved win.

Judy Tzuke for me "Stay with me til dawn". Great song for having sex to!

Great choice lady, I've just ripped it to my iPod Touch, but I'd also include the haunting Boys Of Summer by Don Johnson.

I'm not entirely sure I understand the question. Stronger in terms of what?
I think men and women fundamentally experience the same emotions, but there is a difference in the way that men and women express their emotions. However I'm not sure it's a question of being stronger or "being more in touch with your emotions". I think it's just different.

I suspect the darkest skin tones can be a real bitch to light properly.

nope, not really much difference. skin tone lies in a very, very small range in the colour spectrum.
Although i have only lit for tv/video, the worst case as far as lighting difference for light/dark skin is you sometimes have to fiddle round with accenting lights to help with seperating features from backgrounds etc in some cases.
Well answered meat2pleaseu this is one of the many myths put about by the publishing houses, but the reality is that they simply do not fit into their notion of beauty. This then stimulates a whole industry which perpetuates the myth and then creates a life of it's own.
It's very similar to the whole size debate. For instance who decided that size 6 was a good thing? It doesn't really matter since it now exists within it's own ecosytem, and as the juggernaut rumbles on it becomes more and more difficult to stop, despite what most of us really think.

Mmmmmm?????
Not really sure I want to get involved in this conversation because both poshkate AND dawnie have highlighted the fact that this thread has gone a little awry, but it seems to me there is a huge difference between legality and social stigma. And it seems that both are being confused.
dunno

Actually you can get a pay-as-you-go option on the 3G dongle. I've not had any problems with it and the speed is superb.
Furthermore you can also buy a wifi adaptor for the 3G dongle which will give you wireless access throughout your home and allow more than one computer access to the internet.

Im a self taught two finger typist....comes from hours on forums like this, and also from typing up reports and theses ect from when i worked.
BUT why oh why on gods green earth can I NEVER and I mean NEVER type
myself and just without stopping and doing it slowly and deliberatley.
If i do it fast it comes out myslef and jsut every piggin time.
can anyone explain why these two words seem to mis-spell themselves (nearly put themsleves)
and does anyone else have this prob with other words dunno

Yup! I have the same problem too. I think it has a lot to do with the QWERTY keyboard which was deliberately designed to slow down typing to stop manual typewriters from jamming up.
The problem is it isn't ergonomic, but we've sort of got used to it.

Sorry... I thought this was about freedom of speech and being entitled to our opinions.
I'm over myself thanks very much. wink
My pics are private. It's not the end of the world but to have the choice of where they appear rather than having to hide them completely would be nice.
My main reason for not wishing to appear in the gallery is because I found my brother on a random search of the gallery and I'd really rather he didn't find bits of me in there. He knows my username and to avoid my profile. If my pics are in the gallery there's every chance he's likely to happen across my tits and ass. Something neither I, nor he, would choose to see.
Yes the site works, yes I think most of the changes are for the better but I'd like to support Admin 100% and at present, on this topic, I cannot because for the reason stated above I disagree.
So yes, I'm over it. The site doesn't work as well for me as it did but this is something I cannot change so I've accepted that my photos require to remain private. Doesn't mean that I'm not going to voice my opinion on it as and when I choose to. That is one choice, as a member here, that I am afforded.
What I have come to realise, is that the changes here will take place whether the forum minority like them or not. There will be a 10 page thread whinging about it, there will be questions asked and some answered, some not, there will be a period of calm and everyone will get used to it... just like the tagging of pics, the quickies, the friends feed and I believe way back when the introduction of the postcode feature. People don't like change. People do like choice. There is a choice, you accept the decisions made higher up the chain or you don't. Should you choose not to, you know where the door is. Simples.
However, I'm happy to listen to rants, to type rants but I'd never state that you couldn't make them cause as far as I'm aware, the freedom of that choice (within the AUP) is allowed.

Totally agree with you here. I think the one thing that is good about this site is it's amazing tolerance, and allowing people to voice their views and opinions. I suspect that sometimes when I express mine that I have upset people in the process, but I think most people realize it isn't my intention to do so. Were that to change then that really would be the end.
However I'm not entirely sure about the notion that people don't like change. I think in reality people are generally indifferent to change, but require information and reasons for the change, plus reassurances that their own interests won't be compromised. Once these are satisfied people seem to be quite happy about whatever has been implemented.
biggrin :D :D

Same old, same old.
It seems to me that the mods, admin and chatrrom ops have plenty to say between themselves, but where are the so called 'members' in all this?
I appreciate the need to "upgrade" the site but it's difficult to make any real comments about the "… navigational and usability improvements …", when the pictures show no sign of it, without using the new site. And so a series of pictures showing the same/similar imagees but in different colours isn't very informative. In fact at first glance it seems like window dressing rather than any real interface improvement. There is much, much more to interface design than just superficial changes of colour and images
Also from a user interface point of view there seems to be little evidence of significant changes in navigation or intuitive structure. The main changes seems to be redesigned icons and buttons, and use of a different colour palette. The only comment I've read so far, from a real user interface perspective, has come from two-4-more.
This is a real chance to make the site great, but once again I'm afraid this opportunity will be dreadfully squandered, but it's not too late to take onboard some real constructive comments that will make the site easier to use, and more consistent. None of these issues appear to have been resolved yet.
