I've been thinking about our abject performances over the last few years.
We've tried dance-y stuff, pop stuff and big shouty ballads. I say next year, we should send Motorhead and have done with it.
To be fair, Zinglebert Bembledack is probably already on his private Lear Jet back to Las Vegas thinking "balls to 'em. I'm off to make some real money and let those losers get on with it".
I was going to make a joke about hoping the authorities would let him out to get rid of that bloody awful 'band' that follow the England team everywhere. But I wasn't sure how everybody would react.
Happy Birthday, Meeks.
Hope you're having a great day, mate.
Woohoo!
Put Desi and me down on the list for this, please Mrs B.
Hodgson has won trophies. Whether you regard 12 Swedish and Finnish league titles as "tin pot" is your prerogative. The fact remains that he has won much more than media darling and "people's choice" Redknapp (a 3rd Division title with Bournemouth, The Inter-Toto Cup {the very definition of Tin pot} with West Ham and The FA Cup with Pompey, where he spent millions and bankrupted the club). Hodgson did something very few other English managers had the balls to do. He tried his hand abroad. It was this foreign experience that set him up for the England job rather than any trophies. Hodgson's knowledge of European football is vast. That is what The FA have looked at.
Oh, and by the way, West Brom finishing in mid-table is a great achievement for a club of our size. We've spent a tiny fraction compared to some of the so-called bigger clubs. Consider Liverpool; £100 million+ spent and we enter the last 2 games of the season just 3 points behind them.

I'm saying Hodgson is a better choice as he has more experience and a better track record.

and has won ?
12 League titles in different parts of Europe. As well as second in Serie A and a UEFA Cup Final with Inter.

Hodgson suffered at Lolerpool because he wasn't Dalgleish. He'll suffer with England because he isn't Redknapp. The 'Arry loving media will see to that, conveniently forgetting that Redknapp is a very average manager. In 30 years as a manager, he's won the 3rd Division title with Bournemouth, the Inter-Toto Cup with West Ham and The FA Cup with Pompey, after spending millions and eventually bankrupting the club. Hodgson has managed teams to 12 league titles (in Sweden and Finland), finished second in Serie A with Inter (and reaching the UEFA Cup Final) and qualified for World Cups and European championships with Finland and Switzerland. I'd rather have an England side managed by Hodgson than Redknapp, who would quickly be found to be out of his depth. Though, having said that, it would've been interesting to see who the press would have blamed if Redknapp had got the job and it all went tits up.

blimey next you will be saying that mcclaren was a good manager as he won the carling cup.rolleyes
Au contraire. I'm saying Hodgson is a better choice as he has more experience and a better track record.

In the corresponding time, Hodgson has won an 'insipid' total of 66 points at West Brom, while at the same time over the same period, the so-called King Kenny has a massive 68 points.

well...two things...firstly Roy is a good manager and think he does suit the international scene. He has no court cases or dodgy deals ( that we know of ) around him, or in the skeleton cupboard.
Also on a personal note, he has done really well at Sandwell Town ( as a Wolves supporter, I'm not allowed to use the real name..lol )...but now they lost the manager they will hopefully do crap....now that more important than England for me !!! lol

The Dingles can only dream of being where the Stripey Demons are at the moment.
As a Baggies fan, I'm gutted because he's taken us and turned us into an established mid-table Premier League side, something impressive, given the fact that we don't have tons of foreign money behind us. On a personal level, I'm quite happy for him as he's wanted a crack at the England job for a while and looks to be finally getting one.
I'm more than a little apprehensive about who his replacement will be. The name Steve Bruce is being mentioned. That fills me with horror. I'd like to try and get Roberto Martinez from Wigan, if we can. But having said that, we may be able to attract a better class of candidate as we'll be playing our 3rd consecutive season in the EPL.
And at least we won't make such a debacle of it as Moxey/Morgan and Clipboard Connor did
RIP The Lord Of Loud. As important to the history of rock music as any musician you care to name.
Some people love the sound of the dawn chorus, other the sound of child's laughter. Me? A Gibson Les Paul through a 100 watt Marshall stack.
Huge problems in chat atm. Down to just 62 people in chat as I type. It took me 3 attempts to get into chat. I was 'timed out' twice. There is a very bad lag in chat too. It's taking ages for posts to appear on screen.
Much grassy arse to everybody.
It's been a great day. Loads of loffs with friends and family and a bunch of beer. There should be more days like this.
Starlight, whatever you do, never listen to any Jerry Sadowitz. You will spontaneously combust.
He makes Clarkson sound like Thora Hird

One thing that amuses or baffles me in any conversation/discussion/bickering about Thatcher, is that you get the usual Labour supporters spill their hatred for what she did to this country, yet conveniently forget that she left power in 1990, to be replaced by John Major, who then became Prime Minister for 7 years. Labour were elected into power in 1997, and despite being in power for 13 years, did nothing to change some people's views that the problems with this country is all the fault of Thatcher.

I remember the Labour party during her reign and every decision she made, they all said "we will buy back any privatised companies when we get in power" "we will get rid of this poll/council tax when we get in power", "we will lower VAT when we get in power", "we will help get the coal mines working again when we get in power", we will buy back all the council houses when we get in power", and let's think, how many of her so called crazy things did they change ?
Labour lost power in 1979 and they finally regained power in 1997. There was a huge difference in the party. Nearly all of the "socialist" principles had been dropped (mainly because they were making Labour 'unelectable' in the eyes of the general public) and the leader in '97 was Tony Blair, who freely admits that Thatcher was one of his idols. In '97, all 3 main parties were chasing the votes of the middle-class, middle-England "Mondeo Man". Any socialist principles the Labour party may have had, had long since been abandoned.
There was a similar problem last night, as well. Admin are aware of it and are investigating.
What Desi said above.
We finally got to Wigan and it was all what was promised and more.
Great people, great atmosphere and an all-round top night.
Huge thanks and many huzzahs for NWC for organising it and we hope there will be more in the future.
