Aaaah bless ya if anyone says to you it's going to be easy, don't believe them. Sorry but you need to know it's hard work but well worth it in the long run.
I gave up 4 years ago with the help of patches. I was smoking well over 20 a day and it was killing my chest and our pocket. I went with the patches like you and my first day was horrible, all I could keep thinking about was a fag. BUT, by the time I went to bed I felt fantastic, it was the first whole day I'd managed.
I did put on loads of weight but that was my own stupidness as I started drinking wine every night to replace the fags! But here I am 4 yrs on and I feel better for it.
You will feel jittery, you will feel depressed, you may even feel sick and tired, it's all just the detox over this 48 hrs. Stick with it, you'll be fine, just keep giving yourself a pat on the back every hour that you are passing, as a non smoker!
Mar x
Thank you Mar for the encouraging words
It is now six hours since I had my last cigarette. The anxiety has gone a bit but my throat is feeling rather sore I'm trying to work out ways to keep my mind off the smokes now evening is setting in and I'm worried I'll want a ciggy after the kids have gone to bed
