It always seems silly to me that the English celebrating St Patrick's day when they have no Irish connections at all, but don't celebrate St Georges day. I think the reason may be something to do with the fact that people have been made to feel that showing pride in being English is something to be ashamed of. This has been because of the hi-jacking of English symbolism by the likes of BNP et al.
So to counter these half-witted idiots (my words and I'll stand by them) lets use St Georges day to celebrate all that is good in modern day England-the fact that I believe we are a multi-cultural society and use it show all these different communities exist together in our great like an anti-facist day, though maybe a bit strong.
My daughter, though by quirk of law is French and I shall be celebrating Bastille Day is that unpatriotic or what?
SiGo steps off soapbox
As a serial redecorator just a word of advice - where do you draw the line do you paint the TV because it dosen't fit in with your colour 'd drive yourself mad trying to colour co-ordinate are obviously quality speakers with a good finish, it seems silly to ruin them on a whim.

What a great place to work-it's so laid back you can die and nobody even notices-so by my reasoning you could do no work for 3 days a week and get away with it.
Mind you I've worked places where they'd give you a written warning for being dead at work
I'm surprised people have missed out the other thing that has led to poor spelling. Now I know I'm not perfect but I think I was the last generation af kids who were TAUGHT to I refer to is the spellcheck on word. It's a wonderful tool but as more and morework is done on PC's in education the spellchecker simply corrects mistakes rather than educate.
Though as has already been pointed out maybe this is just a change in the English language, after all language is a living evolving we speak the same now as the 17th century?
Also some people spell things the way they are said as this is the way they were taught - was their not an education movement in the 60's that taught people this way of me if I'm wrong but I'm sure that some will know more than I on this.
Text speak annoys me, as does the speech patterns of some, that is a personal preference but I can't say that I witha strong local dialect speak anymore correctly.
I'm too young to have ever been to Wigan Casino but on the subject I have just finished an excellent book called Casino by Dave Shaw published by somebody who is into that sphere of music it was fascinating and I'm sure it would even more for those who were there.

Didn't see this programme but when I was living in France there was a programme with the same subject matter on the main thrust of this documentary was the way that this disease really puts a lot of life in perspective.
My daughter is quite ill though not on scales that have been mentioned here, but enough to affect our lives and sometimes things get very difficult for parents who can feel at times as if their lives, and their childs, have been robbed from do get on with things but it dosen't stop times when you feel like crying
